I read Mazey Edding's first book, A Brush with Love and found a new author to love. She's local to me and that, for some reason, makes me like her even more!

I was so excited to see that Lizzie was getting her own book as I loved her in A Brush with Love.

Lizzie is a unique character but honestly IRL, she's like many of us. Maybe a bit too loud, talks to much and is a bit scattered at times. As a mother of a child with ADD, I can relate to Lizzie. She's trying so hard to do it all, but it's just too much and all comes back to blow up in her face. I love reading books about relatable characters and Lizzie is one of the most relatable characters I have ever read.

One fateful night she meets, Rake. A gorgeous hottie from Australia - just a one-night stand that turns into so much more.

The banter between these two was funny, sad, and steamy! I wanted these two to get their HEA, but it wasn't a straight road, there were many twists and turns along the way. I so enjoyed watching these two, come into their own and together at the same time. I love the way in which Mazey Eddings writes and makes me feel like I am part of the story. (I am still looking for the bakery in Philly that Lizzie works at because I think it's a genius idea lol)!

Another great book by Mazey Eddings!

I really enjoyed this book. A energetic whirlwind of a woman with adhd meets a quiet, emotionally stunted Australian man for a two night stand that somehow leads to more. I enjoyed Lizzie’s journey to self-love but also growth and improvement. Yes, she has adhd but eventually she realizes it doesn’t have to control her life. I even found myself getting frustrated with her as I imagine the people in her life did but loved her through it anyway. Rake was such a charming character trying not to fall for the sunshine that was Lizzie’s energy and failing miserably. The best part was that he really didn’t deny it for too long. I’m usually not a fan of pregnancy trope but Mazey Eddings did it well. 4.5/5 ⭐️ ARC provided by Netgalley

This book was not for me. The MC wasn't my favorite and the plot just seemed crazy unrealistic. I know it's a book but I wasn't sold on the decisions they made so quickly. It was also just a little too raunchy for my taste, others might enjoy those parts more than I did! Just wasn't for me.

I was thrilled to receive this ARC. This was my first Mazey Edding novel. I had previously heard wonderful things about “A Brush With Love” so I immediately dove into this one - and I am totally in love with this author, the writing style and this story.

I think what I loved most about this was the nature of the story. It was real and told in such a beautiful way. I related with Lizzie and her feelings - how she over expresses herself, feels all the feelings, speaks her mind. I really resonated with her character and I appreciated that tremendously.

The unconventional, quirky, messy, emotional story made ME feel all the feelings. I feel like I experienced every emotion throughout my reading this book.

I would recommended this to any reader who is a fiction fan, specifically romance!

Mazey does it again somehow just fully pulling you into this amazing world but this time with the focus on the lovely Lizzie. A strong female who has adhd and is learning to navigate what that means in the adult world. You quickly fall in love (almost as quickly as they do) with Rake, an Australian hunk! Though they met for a one night fling their worlds are completely changed and truly for the better. Lizzie finds herself able to be open and honest about her adhd with Rake while Rake who has chosen to ignore any chance at love is truly awakened by this red haired goddess Lizzie. Neither one will ever be the same after this once in a lifetime encounter and honestly as a reader you won’t be either after you are welcomed into their world. Thank you Mazey for representing adhd so raw, open and beautiful. LBBM is a must read.

I loved this book so, so much!!!
I really enjoyed Mazey Eddings’ debut novel, A brush with love and Lizzie was one of the most intriguing characters from it so I was really excited for her to have her own book. But I was not expecting myself to get so emotionally attached to this story and love her this much!

I’m not a fan of unexpected pregnancy trope, this trope has never excited me or made me want to read a book. I started reading this one just for Lizzie but I ended up loving EVERYTHING about this story.
This book was pure chaos and I was living for it!! It was also so full of love and warmth and I just couldn’t believe these people, these feelings that I’m reading about, these experiences aren’t real. Mazey Eddings is amazing!!

I’ve read many books with Neurodiverse MCs but this was my first time reading a book with the MC having ADHD. Lizzie’s struggles were relatable, which made the story all the more special to me. She’s a character you’d describe as sunshine. She’s chaotic, full of energy and life and just a bright ray of sunshine. She’s so lovable and appreciative of the people SHE loves, hardworking and just so sweet. I was mildly intrigued by her in A brush with love but now, I’m totally obsessed!! Oh, she has the ability to make inappropriate jokes in just about every serious situation and I love that. There were so many parts of her personality that reminded me of myself (like laughing at every situation, even the most serious ones, finding peace in getting hugs from my loved ones, craving physical contact when I’m feeling sad and many more things!!) There were so many instances when I just wanted to reach inside the book and give her a long hug.

Our love interest, Rake was quite the opposite of his name. He was a total sweetheart and one of my absolute favourite characters I’ve read about. He was just so nice and caring and understanding (we need more REAL people like him please)

Lizzie chaotic energy and Rake’s calm and composed approach to everything was just so fun to read about and they complemented each other very well!!
The romance was soooo swoony and heartwarming, I cried real tears while reading some of the more serious scenes. Their chemistry was also off the charts right from the beginning but this story was just so much more than a steamy romance.

This book was the whole package: I laughed and then I also cackled like a mad woman at some parts, I felt second hand embarrassed on behalf of the characters and I cried A LOT during their struggles, I wanted to shake them when they did something wrong but mostly, I was just really, really happy for these sweet characters because they found their happiness which they deserved.

There were many other elements of the story that I’d rather not talk about in my review, I was pleasantly surprised by them and I’d want that for other readers too!!

In short, this was exactly the kind of rom-com I love, with a healthy balance of all the emotions, lovable MCs, supportive group of friends and an unforgettable story!

I would highly, HIGHLY recommend this book to everyone!
(Also, Lizzie reminded me a bit of Hazel from Josh and Hazel’s guide to not dating by Christina Lauren so if you loved that book, I’m 10000% sure you’ll adore this one too!!)

A huge thank you to Netgalley and St. Martin’s Press for this e-arc!! I’m so happy I got the chance to read an early copy of this beautiful book!!

Lizzie is a young baker who does not have the time to have meaningful romantic relationships. Rake is the picture of an organizer in real life and has sworn off women after terrible heartbreak. After a two-night stand, they find themselves expecting. While they be able to look eye to eye and coparent their baby? Or will their differences get the better of each other?

This was a very sweet but mediocre read. The characters were complex in their own way, but I did not find it in me to care about them.

I like a good pregnancy trope and this delivered. Except, of course, for the treacherous third act conflict every romance seems to have. My problem is not the break up itself, but the fact that the reason for their separation was already resolved in two separate instances. So why bring a finished business back to the surface.

It was a fun, entertaining read eventhough I had some issues with it. I would recommend it!!

This was a cute book with an adorable couple, Lizzie is high energy and chaotic while Rake is organized and chill. I loved watching their relationship develop and the way he supports her when she was going through it. There were a bunch of spicy scenes but at times I felt like they were forced and didn’t really go with the flow of the book. The whole book was unrealistic in that he completely uprooted his life for a one night stand and I doubt that would happen in real life but this is a cheesy romance book so I was into it!! There were fun touches throughout like the NSFW bakery and cute back and forth banter between the two. I would recommend reading this if you want a lighthearted romance with an accidental pregnancy and a happy ending!

Another hit from Mazey Eddings! Fans of A Brush With Love will definitely enjoy Lizzie Blake's Best Mistake. I loved the humor and heartfelt moments in this novel, especially the discussions about the stigma of having ADHD. It was very easy to empathize with Lizzie as a main character even given her slip-ups here and there. Not only was Lizzie a really fun main character to follow, but I liked being reunited with Harper, Thu, and Indira again and seeing Lizzie's dynamic with each and every one of them. I only wish that Rake was a stronger character. He and his personality felt really diluted, considering how strong of a character Lizzie is. To me, Rake's personality and motivations felt a little weak when I compared him as a love interest to Dan in A Brush With Love. I'm very excited to read Indira's book next!

Oh Lizzie Blake, how much I love thee. And Rake Thompson, an Aussie dream. These two are thrown together in a night of chemistry and lust. A perfect one night stand. Until it isn't. Lizzie breaks her one rule and goes on to have a two night stand. Their live become more and more entwined, and soon, everything turns upside down.

I really liked this book, perhaps more than Mazey Eddings's first book, A Brush With Love. I love Lizzie's ADHD representation because Eddings shows that just because she may be disorganised and messy in different ways, it's not her fault. Her brain functions differently, and I'm amazed how Mazey Eddings brings her to life. I have many friends with ADHD, and I could see them in Lizzie. I really loved Lizzie and Rake's relationship grow from a place of lust and sexual chemistry to caring about one another. Sometimes we see the opposite in romance novels, and I found this change in storytelling successful.

The one qualm I have about the books is because there was a major plot point that wasn't mentioned in the book summary or blurbs, and even though Eddings may have wanted it to be a surprise when reading it, I would rather aware of the plot point before going in. I don't want to say anything in case of spoilers, but it was just something I nitpicked.

Lizzie Blake’s Best Mistake was an okay read for me. I didn’t love it but I also didn’t hate it! I enjoyed the dialogue and it did make me laugh out loud. But the overall story just wasn’t for me.

Thank you St. Martins Press and Netgalley for the digital ARC!

had high expectations after a brush with love and i was so disappointed.. i didn’t hate this book but i didn’t love it
unexpected pregnancy is absolutely awful unless it’s done amazingly well and that wasn’t really accomplished.
both mcs were cute tho and their chemistry was good

thank you netgalley and st. martin’s press for an eARC of this novel!

rating: 4.5 stars!

after a brush with love, i had really high expectations for eddings’ next novel, and she delivered beautifully! i know pregnancy trope is something people either love or hate, and i’m definitely one of those that loves it and this book does it so well.

lizzie is such a fun main character-i loved how she was written and the way she develops throughout the book, but not through changing herself; she’s such an authentic character and the adhd representation was so wonderfully done. her characterization wasn’t what i expected, but it was everything i wanted. the subplot involving her family had me in tears-especially with her brother. something about her is just so, so warm and if she was a real person i’d want to be her best friend.

the romance was also absolutely amazing. rake and lizzie’s dynamic was hilarious, and i just loved their progression from friends to somewhat fwb and lastly lovers. the third act conflict was also really interesting, and i just loved their gradual realization into falling in love with one another. rake is just a very fun as a love interest and i genuinely just ENJOYED this book, which is exactly how you should feel when reading a romcom.

the last thing i will say is dan and lizzie’s friendship was everything <3 i wasn’t necessarily expecting it but i’m VERY grateful for it bc something about them just made me giggle

Lizzie Blake's Best Mistake by Mazey Eddings is an adorable novel about neurotypical Lizzie (and face it, we've all known someone like her!) who meets Australian Rake and winds up with an unplanned pregnancy. After Rake returns to Australia, Lizzie discovers the pregnancy and Rake steps up as the baby's father, flying back to the US and attempting to take care of Lizzie, as much as she will let him. Their relationship is crazy, I'll let you discover the fun on your own! Loved this book, it's a great summer read or will be something light and fun to read as you head back to school in September.

Thanks to the author, St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for an ARC of this delightful novel in exchange for my honest review.

Lizzie and Rake are two broken individuals who have each been through their respective traumas and disappointments. Their journey through navigating the ups and downs of co-parenting while also overcoming their abandonment issues and learning how to have a relationship was so heartwarming and heartbreaking to read. Beautifully written, with plenty of spice.. what more could a person ask for?!

i LOVED this book!!! i adore the pregnancy trope, so i loved this book. however, it doesnt really focus on the actual pregnancy, rather their relationship. one night stand to friends to lovers. i loved both of the characters so much. rake is australian and so so sweet and lizzie made me laugh out loud. i also really enjoyed and appreciated the adhd representation; i thought it was really well done. overall, really great and a fun, feel good read!

Thank you to St. Martin's Griffin (via NetGalley) for the ARC!

I am really trying to think of something to say something besides "I LOVED THIS BOOK!" because that's not a useful thing to write in a book review 😂 But I DID love it! I loved Lizzie in all her chaos, I loved Rake and his carefulness and care of her, I loved their dynamic together because despite being total opposites, somehow they worked. I loved that both of them figured out they needed to stand up for themselves in different ways and they were there for each other in the aftermath. I loved that they both did everything with their whole hearts despite being scared and unprepared and nervous.

I also loved that despite the fact that I usually HATE unplanned pregnancy tropes (no babies in my romance novels please), I really liked this one?? I'm not sure what the difference was honestly. Maybe it was the fact that Lizzie and Rake were so likable that I didn't mind it or the fact that it wasn't honestly a huge part of the plot, but it was definitely a great way to get an Australian to move all the way to Philadelphia 😂

I especially loved seeing a heroine with ADHD, and I want more of that! The only other time I've seen ADHD rep in an adult novel was in Olivia Dade's ALL THE FEELS, and I really liked that too (not to say there isn't more out there, that's just all I've come across). But ADHD manifests differently in different people, especially in men and women, so the more rep the better, I say!

I have been a fan of Mazey Eddings since I read an ARC of her first book A BRUSH WITH LOVE, and I think it's safe to say that she is an auto-buy author for me. I will definitely be buying a copy of this book when it comes out (September seems so far from now???), and I really can't wait to read Indira's story either! 😍

*I received a copy of this book on NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for this opportunity*

The second in a "series" (I'm using that term loosely because you don't really need to read the first one to understand what's going on), LIZZIE BLAKE'S BEST MISTAKE is a charming romance novel that follows an erratic erotic baker and the straight-laced Australian hottie she somehow bagged as the two of them navigate a totally platonic co-parenting situation.

Things that I genuinely enjoyed in this book:

The main character is apologetically ADHD. It is so refreshing to see someone aneurotypical representing in a realistic manner. She's messy, unorganized, and chaotic-- and Lizzie is 100% aware of this. She struggles to embrace her brain for what it is and how it works, and so many people can relate to the struggle.

This book is spicy. Very spicy.

I also loved the emphasis on found family-- and recognizing that those you share blood with may not need to be in your life anymore. Lizzie, while dealing the the repercussions of an unplanned pregnancy, has a real amount of growth that takes place. She finds her community and embraces those who support and love her unconditionally.

Things that I struggled with in this book:

It was just so unrealistic. This book is written for the person looking for an escape from reality-- because while I know there are genuinely wonderful men who have two-night stands with women, I find it unbelievable they would relocate across the country to help raise the child. Rake left the job he liked and parents he adored, conveniently had dual citizenship and found and affordable, beautiful studio apartment-- all within the span of a few weeks. No questions asked.

If you can read books with a deep rooted suspension of belief, I think this book would be a five-star read. However, I couldn't completely lose myself in the book because it didn't feel real. All that said, I was rooting for them at the end and enjoyed the book-- and that's all you can really ask for!

Thank you to Net Galley for the ARK of Lizzie Blake’s Best Mistake in exchange for my honest review.

I rated this a solid 3 stars and I just admit I may have liked it better if it wasn’t for me; I’m honestly not a fan of the pregnancy trope.

Lizzie and Rake were two great characters I felt the tension wasn’t as strong as some slow burns but that could be because they hit it off right away. Overall it’s a good book.

I think Mazey is the cutest author there is. Her characters are so full of life. All the little details make them seem real. Like people you know. I had high expectations after ABWL, and Lizzie didn’t disappoint. She and Rake are so cute together. The pregnancy aspect is so sweet and real. I just died over the fact that she slept on an air mattress and that whole situation!
I have no critiques. It was a fun, light and sexy read!
