Being back in Luc O’Donnell’s head shouldn’t feel so good, but I’ve missed it. Luc is endearing, lovable, ridiculous, and a bit messy but he’s endlessly relatable as he tries to navigate his relationships, his perception of himself, and his past unexpectedly popping up. Just from the first few chapters it’s clear that there’s another brilliant and insightful story being told and I’m so here for it.

Ok, so I joined Netgalley solely to get my eyes on the preview chapters of Husband Material. Which means I have signed away my first review. It was so worth it. Husband Material continues in the vein of Boyfriend Material, funny, poignant and incredibly enjoyable. I wish I could read all of it NOW. While Alexis Hall is one of my favorite authors, I put off reading Boyfriend Material because something about the cover put me off, maybe it looked too royal? It's not, and conveniently by delaying reading BM, the sequel was being prepared for publication. Go me.
I don't think I can give away any spoilers since I can only access the first 5 chapters,-- but we get to meet the mythical Miles in the first chapter. And while Luc initially deals with the encounter in his usual manner, he has grown enough to recover and disrupt the cycle of blowing up his relationships.
Oliver and Luc have matured individually and within their relationship, but they are still funny and Luc is still adult challenged. Their emotional resilience is tested when Luc is forced into a no win decision and we are left waiting to learn the ramifications for their relationship. Cannot wait until it comes out.

NEED FULL BOOK ASAP!!! Luc and Oliver are just so *chefs kiss* and I cannot wait to see more of them in Husband Material! When I heard that Boyfriend Material was going to have a sequel I was so excited but also nervous because I thought Boyfriend Material ended so beautifully. But this preview has me so excited to read more!! I absolutely adore how Luc and Oliver get on together and seeing them two years after Boyfriend Material and how they have grown together is perfection. I can't wait to see how this story progresses and how Luc and Oliver continue to grow together!! August 2 please come faster!!

I am honestly so hyped for this!
Sequels are always kind of scary with this kind of book, where the first book had a nice ending, but judging from the preview of the first few chapters, this will be amazing!
I mean, I really kin Luc, so of course I'm going to love his dumb, anxious ass no matter what he does, but yeah... This preview has only increased my hype.

5⭐️ WOW!! I need more after reading those first 5 chapters of this upcoming book! I had absolutely missed Luc and Oliver so getting to read this brought warmth to my heart. It’s very important to me that the first few chapter of a book hook me and this did exactly that!

Luc is at a moment in his life with metaphorical scissors poised over the threads that tie him to his old life. Is he ready to let go of that toxic ex who trashed his reputation, or does he have unfinished business? Is he sure he wants to settle down and put Oliver first in his life, even if that means boring text exchanges about table lamps? How is he supposed to handle it when his BFF Bridge needs a shoulder to cry on, but Oliver has tickets to Pretty Woman The Musical? There's so much more to romance after that first infatuation, and I love this exploration of post-happily-ever-after. Definitely need more than this teaser, though.

Reading this sample of Husband Material without having read Boyfriend Material is technically possible, but feels a bit like walking into an already-raging party full of strangers. Everyone's like, "Hey! You made it! Come say hi to Luc and Oliver and Miles and Bridge and Priya and omg, have you met JoJo yet? Put on this crazy bachelorette party hat, grab a glowstick, and let's gooooo!" And you feel totally overwhelmed and four drinks behind everyone, but it isn't long before you realize these people are genuinely awesome and you'll have no trouble partying with your new friends. And they will be your new friends, because even this glimpse is enough to introduce you to a cast of characters that is SO lovable. And you'll definitely want to see how this plays out.

Thanks to NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for providing a copy of this five-chapter preview in exchange for my honest review.

THIS WAS NOT LONG ENOUGH,.. I NEED MORE. I NEED MORE NOW. THIS WAS NOT FAIR. This is like giving a child one potato chip and being like that's all you get for now. It's cruel and mean. Now give us this book. The writing is chef kisses. Alexis Hall does it again. CAN NOT WAIT TO BUY THIS BAD BOY.

** First 5 chapter **

I'm so excited about this book, we're back again with Oliver and Lucien *sigh*, these two!

Lucien is just being Lucien, Oliver tries to comfort him, and there's Bridge and her wedding drama, oh and the other wedding...

And I think I know why Oliver was *mad* about Lucien canceling their date night ~he wanted to propose?! OMG I hope so! ~

Arghhhh, I shouldn’t have read this 5 chapter because now I'm mad that I don't have the whole book. The waiting! Gosh.

Firs, Thank you NetGalley for the ARC of this book.
I've read the first 5 chapters from this book and wow,i Really hope that the author Talk about the maturing of the characters,But the plot about the ex boyfriend wedding... I really found unnecessary, my review from the first book was really bad cuz, all the characters all the characters annoyed me soooo much, so my Expectation was/are really low about this one.

A brilliant teaser to what is sure to be a book I’ll adore. I loved Boyfriend Material, and from these first few chapters I can tell I will feel much the same about Husband Material. I love the tone Alexis Hall sets across all his novels and i’m delighted that its no different for this upcoming release. Alexis Hall knows how to create characters very well. Luc, to me, is a perfect protagonist because he’s so easy to like and root for, but he’s flawed and can be unbelievably stupid - it gives layers to him and makes him all the more relatable. I love how this book (and the first one) makes subtle nods to some great british rom-coms, it makes me, a british person, fall all the more in love with it. I can’t wait to read this in full when it’s released and spend more time with characters and a relationship I have adored for a long time.

I loved getting to catch up again with Oliver and Luc - I was such a fan on Boyfriend Material & Alexis Hall's other books since then. It's so lovely to see how much they've both grown and I'm already hooked. I can't wait to read the rest!

If you loved the first book, and for what i’ve read so far, i’m sure you won’t be disappointed with this one! It looks like the perfect sequel for the story of these two 🥺 Can’t wait to get my hands on this!!

How delightful! I forget how incredible Hall's writing is, the characters are so loveable and the scenarios and inner diologue is just hilarious. I cant wait for the full book, and this hint of the conflict already has me excited for more.

I really enjoyed the first few chapters and would be interested in reading the rest! I didn't realize this was a sequel. Maybe I've been hiding under a rock and gave myself spoilers for the first book, but I will definitely be picking up the first before this book is published and I can get my hands on the rest of this book!

Thank you NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for the earc!
