Thank you, NetGalley for the preview ARC in exchange for an honest review. The book is set to publish on August 2, 2022.

This preview of 'Husband Material' features the first five chapters of the novel. It's been two years since what has happened in 'Boyfriend Material' and coincidentally I read that book two years ago in 2020. It had become a favorite of mine, balancing drama and humor in a way I love to see it, and it seems like this book is going to be the same! Yay! Although it's been a hot minute since I read that book, within the beginning of 'Husband Material' I was flooded with memory and recollection of the book's content and what I loved about it.

As a sequel, it does a great job reminding the reader of the characters and their antics very naturally in the beginning chapters if one hasn't read the first book recently. I love Luc and Oliver's relationship, I love Alex so much and I hope we see Miffy again soon! The humor in context and dialogue is laugh-out-loud funny, and I'm so glad to continue on with Luc's mad life and where this will take us. I need more, more, more of everything this series can give! I'm so excited for this when it comes out!

This is an honest review of a 5-chapter preview given to me through NetGalley.

In Boyfriend Material, Luc and Oliver went from fake dating to real falling in love, and after two years of dating, they are still going strong in Husband Material. They’re on top of the world, but for every up there’s a down.

(03/13/2022): I love how, while the characters of Luc and Oliver are still the same boys we know and love, their development and maturation as individuals and as a couple is clearly shown. The humor is still just as on point as it was in the first book, and despite being only five chapters, this book is already so engaging (I live for drama). I’m very excited to get my hands on a full-length copy of this book when it comes out, and I will update this partial review when that happens!

I just read a preview of the first four chapters of Husband Material and loved every word. It took me right back to the world of Luc and Oliver as if time never passed. How am I going to wait for the August release?! Preordered.

I really enjoyed this preview of Husband Material. It’s definitely leaving me wanting to get my hands on the rest of their story. The author perfectly mixes high emotions with comedic timing.

Incredibly excited to read the rest of this- the first book is one of my all-time favorites and I can't wait to be swept up in Lucien and Oliver again.

I loved Boyfriend Material by Alexis Hall so when I saw this I had to download it immediately! The release date for this book has already been marked in my calender and I'm really excited. The writing so far is great and just like I expected it to be. I fell into the story instantly and I was really disappointed when the 5 chapters were over.
I can't wait to read the whole book and dive back into Oliver and Luciens Love Story! :)

Only the first five chapters so far but I'm really interested to see how this book is going to unfold. In Boyfriend Material we saw Oliver and Luc really learn about each other through one of my favourite trends (the fake dating trope) and now we get to see them two years later pretty well knowing each other. We see Luc knowing details about what his boyfriend does and doesn't want to hear in jokes and it was fun.

The little snippet was enough to make me wonder if we are going to see more of their friends and if the balance between being there for your friends and being there for your partner gets harder once you look into a further commitment. I will be buying the full book once it's released.

So excited for this! A perfect sneak peek into a sequel I’m so invested in! Can’t wait to read the whole thing.

This refers to the whole book as I was able to read an entire ARC - OH MY GOD THIS BOOK IS AMAZING. I laughed out loud waking my husband more than once in the middle of the night because I couldn't put it down. But for all the laughs there's an equal amount of realistic feelings of doubt and uncertainty that comes along with any committed relationship. I just love Luc & Oliver and Alexis Hall hits a home-run with their story. I wish it was coming out sooner than August because I want my library patrons to get their hands on this book!

Thank you for the ARC NetGalley!

This review is for the first five chapters only.

I’m wary of sequels, especially when it follows a book I absolutely loved. There’s the matter of your beloved characters staying true to themselves and the author writing in the same style. Also, will the plot be just as engaging as the first? Will it give me those butterfly feelings again? The bar is “too damn high” meme.

So far, Husband Material seems promising.
Luc, Oliver, and company are still the same yet there’s definitely growth so it doesn’t feel stagnant. I don’t want to write too much since I haven’t read enough but I will say, each time another chapter break came, I was disappointed because I was that much closer to getting to the end of the sample. I can’t wait for release in August and will definitely update more then.

Boyfriend Material was absolutely fantastic, and this preview promises that Husband Material will be equally so. The characters are constant and fantastic. The plot set-up is already incredibly compelling, even in the first five chapters. I am so excited to read the rest of this book, and cannot wait for it to release.

This was only the first five chapters and reading it might have been a mistake because NOW I CAN"T STOP THINKING ABOUT HOW EXCITED I AM FOR THE WHOLE BOOK. The first few chapters absolutely lived up to the first book, with its funny tone, interested characters, and awkward moments. I can not wait for the rest.

I have loved reading Boyfriend Material. It was funny and cute and sometimes sad and just overall perfectly well written.

The first five chapters of Husband Material turned out to be just as good. The story continues two years after Boyfriend Material. Oliver is still just perfect, Luc is still funny and insecure.

While the story is evolving more into weddings and other grown up stuff, the humor stays the same. I especially adored the interaction between Luc and Alex. Every time it's just hilarious!

I knew that I shouldn't torture myself by reading the first five chapters, but I couldn't resist, and I was right - it did leave me wanting more. The first book in the series, "Boyfriend Material" had me laughing out loud and became one of my favorite comfort reads, and one of my favorite books to recommend to others, so I was so excited to get a peek into Luc and Oliver's world two years on and see how they are doing. But, wow did the finish of chapter five leave me with so many questions. I'm going to try not to think too hard about how far away August is!

Boyfriend Material was very much a spur of the moment read, which I entered with some trepidation - contemporary romance rarely works for me - but I was blown away with how much I enjoyed it.

This was more of the same, filled with humour and ridiculousness. All of the characters come through perfectly, feeling very much like a slice of real life. The writing is sharp, and the plot seems to be coming together in a way that I expect will hurt me before it gets better.

Very much looking forward to reading the full book!

The first Book in the series is absolutely one of my favorite reads of last year and maybe ever so I was really excited to get the first couple chapters of book 2. This book is definitely seeming to be full of lots of humor and hijinks and it is really cool to see the development of the relationship between the two main characters in the couple of years since book one occurred. I think that this story is going to be very popular with readers who liked the first book.
