I am so glad I was blessed with a preview of Husband Material by Alexis Hall. I look forward to reading the full novel in August. A job well done by Alexis Hall. 🙌🏼

I loved this preview! It had been a while since I read the previous book and I was worried that I wouldn't remember the characters, but as soon as I started reading everything came back to me and it was fun to be back in this world with these people. I'm interested to see how the story continues.

I should learn that these previews are the worst! I just want the rest of the book and am so mad I have to stop!

I love Oliver and Luc and having to wait for the rest of the book must violate the Geneva convention or something serious that Oliver could explain to Luc.

Thank you NetGalley for the preview of this book in return for an honest review. Husband Material promises to take things up a notch from what Boyfriend Material prepared us for. I can't wait for old favorites to return to the page and break my heart once again. The preview is also incredibly funny and calls back the best of BM.

Husband Material starts off with a bang, or rather with a crocheted vulva hat and a quick reintroduction of many favorite characters from the previous book, Boyfriend Material. The book is again written in first person from Luc’s perspective, and the voice and persona are entirely consistent with the Luc we know and love. Likewise, Oliver is so perfectly Oliver, from the first articulate and anxious chain of texts. Within these first five chapters, we’ve got top-notch banter, a spectacular joke-misfire with Alex Twaddle and the evolution of Rhys Jones Bowen as the world’s most out of touch social media influencer; kitchen misadventures and an “I like you” that is beyond sexy; drama brewing for Bridget that for once doesn’t involve a publishing disaster; and a realistic picture of a healthy, well-developed relationship that is two years along, with main characters who have grown and matured but are still carrying some unresolved baggage from loose ends familiar from the first book. This was such a delight, and I can’t wait for the book to release in August – definitely going to be a “stock up on favorite snacks and take the day off work because ain’t nothing else happening today” kind of release day.

Sequels make me nervous, especially to books that are strong stand-alones. I've been burned way too many times. So when Alexis announced Husband Material I was terrified. Boyfriend Material is up in my top 5 favorite books of all time and I didn't want that story to be tainted by a bad sequel.

I am absolutely thrilled the preview of Husband Material was made available for everyone to read. It took away all of my anxieties and fears of Husband Material not living up to the hype. The only disappointment is how long I have to wait to read the rest of it.

I’ve previously read and enjoyed Boyfriend Material and am excited to read Husband Material, but it doesn’t come out until August! So rude, but this 5 chapter preview might tide me over. Luc’s funny, self-deprecating internal monologue is hilarious, and I love his banter with Oliver. Come faster August!

I loved this preview of Husband Material and am eagerly awaiting the book’s release in August! I can’t wait to see more of Oliver and Luc’s relationship.

This is just a preview, but man does it set us up to be GREEDY for the entire book! I have been anxiously awaiting the sequel to Boyfriend Material for over a year, and Alexis Hall is not going to disappoint! I'm really excited to see how the rest of this book plays out, especially since it's supposedly modeled on "Four Weddings & a Funeral." Hall has definitely kept the spark alive in this book - the characters, banter, and pacing at all 110% on point.

Loved meeting Luc and Oliver in Boyfriend Material, and I could not wait for Husband Material! The first 5 chapters were such a tease and I can't wait for more! The quirky friends and co-workers that I loved from the first book are back in full force, and the banter between Luc and Oliver is perfection, as always. Luc's current dilemma is one I think many readers will relate to and I can't wait to see how things turn out for Luc and our favorite barrister!

Solid. The characters seem a little less themselves and a little more merged and there's a general try-hard sensation (like in Hall's other recent books) but it's still a very good 5 chapters!!

I read Boyfriend Material last year and really liked it, so I was excited for the sequel. However I often find that romance sequels can be very hit or miss. Sometimes there is not enough of a story to tell in the sequel and it becomes mostly fan-service and a way to share a very extended epilogue.

I’ve read the first 5 chapters now from NetGalley and can say that is definitely not the case with Husband Material. In the first chapter we are introduced to several points of conflict that I expect will be the focus of the book, so right from the start there is something driving the story.

We do get reunited with all of the characters from book one and the writing is just as laugh-out-loud hilarious as the first book. I have reread these chapters several times and chapter 2 in particular never fails to make me laugh out loud.

After reading this I’m even more excited for the book and will definitely pick it up when it releases!

I loved Boyfriend Material and was very excited when I saw this, the romance in this series is the heart melting but not cheesy kind that we all wish we could find in real life and the banter between friends is very funny and reminded me of my favourite sitcoms. It also gets better for me every time I remember that they have British accents, of which I am quite fond of.
If you haven't read the first one, I really do recommend it!

I can not believe I have to wait until August for the book in its entirety! It’s sheer perfection. Luc and Oliver having table breaking sex all around the house? Yes, I’m here for it, as well as the drama that is sure to commence.

The preview of this was great, am looking forward to reading the rest when it releases! Note for readers: definitely not a stand alone - will need to have read previous book, “Boyfriend Material” as the book immediately continues with all of the characters from that book. Am looking forward to reading all about Oliver and Luc finding their HEA!

Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the early sneak peak of “Husband Material.”

*Review is of Book Preview (Chapters 1-5) not the entire novel. *

Husband Material is one of my most anticipated releases and I was so excited to get this "extended sneak peek" of it after Boyfriend Material landed in my Top Ten of 2021.

This book takes romcoms a step further than the typical timeline of a romance. It also diverts from the standard romcoms lineup which usually entails a chain of friends finding their happily ever after through their companion novels series.

**Warning Mild Spoilers Below**

To start, we're met with Luc realizing that the phenomenon of marriage is literally happening all around him. More specifically, people like his estranged ex being engaged to someone new and his best friend having her bachelorette party on the same night. We didn't get far enough into this novel to see how this topic comes across to Oliver's and Luc's lives but the drama that began surrounding it was interesting. I love that there was a sense of familiarity with the same characters as before but everyone's a little bit older. Instead of seeing the Meet Cute with the usual HEA at the end, we're seeing all the messy drama that follows with the foreshadowing of a wedding.

Thank you SourceBooks Casablanca and Netgalley for this preview of Husband Material.

This preview contains the first 5 chapters of the book. I read through these in one sitting without even realizing it. In the end, I was left wanting more. Can't wait to read the whole book once it's out. Love it. Looking forward to following the rest of the story

Laughed from beginning to end! I cannot wait for the full novel because I’ve missed Oliver and Luc!!!!

I loved getting to read this preview of Husband Material and I am looking forward to the book coming out in August!

The first five chapters of Husband Material are a wonderful reintroducing of the main and secondary characters of Boyfriend Material, as well as introducing some new characters. The first five chapters set up some very interesting (and some wonderfully funny!) situations, and I’m very much looking forward to seeing where Alexis Hall takes these characters.

I loved the first five chapters, there are many laugh out loud moments, as well as some poignant parts. Very much looking forward to reading the whole book in August!
