This is a very cute read. I was sucked in by the witty banter most of the time.
However, some of the time, the banter was too much and took away from the character development I think.

Damn this preview got me so much more excited to read the actual book. No wonder it'll be filled with so many swoony and laugh out loud moments.

Thank you netgalley and publisher for the preview arc

Funny, hilarious and an amazing start to the sequel with our dear Luc and Oliver. Did I love what I read and how much their relationship has deepened over? No, in fact I absolutely became complete high and now crying for the novel to be released so I can read rest of the book. Keep your eyes open people, you will be wanting to reqs this so bad.

This is wonderful! It got me even more excited for this book to come out!
My favorite part of the previous book was the humour, and I was scared it wouldn't be as good in the sequel but thankfully, I was wrong, from the very first page the wit and humour are there and they're as good as in the first book!

And here I thought the book didn't need a sequel. I was content to leave the story as it was and felt no need for another installment. I've only read the first five chapters but already I can see how this might be a favorite of mine this 2022! So excited to read the rest of the book. I am so so desperate indulge myself in Luc and Oliver's story once again.

I enjoyed boyfriend material alot so i had no doubt i would probably enjoy husband material. I keep thinking of all of the different outcomes this book could turn out based on these five chapters. I can not wait until the book is released!

Now, this is just the first five chapters, but I feel like I need the whole thing! I appreciate the subtle indications of growth, and I'm excited to see how the rest of this shakes out!

I really enjoyed reading this preview of Husband Material! It’s predecessor, Boyfriend Material, is one of my favorite books so I was glad to see a lot of features in this one that are familiar. The humor is spot on and the cast of familiar characters is back. I love that Luc is such a beautifully flawed character and that he’s beginning to be able to face his vulnerability. I’m hoping to continue to see him grow as a person in the rest of this book.

I’m excited (and nervous) to see how the plot continues to develop- as it seems there might be a little trouble in “paradise”…

I love Luc and Oliver so much. They were my comfort characters during the start of the pandemic. I’m so excited for the final copy of Husband Material! I have managed to convince many followers to read Boyfriend Material back in 2020, and it’s one of my greatest achievements. Hopefully Imll do the same for this one!

What a lovely preview! I loved Boyfriend Material so I was thrilled when I heard this was getting a sequel. I'm counting down the days!

These first 5 chapters are just enough to hold me over, I hope. The writing is excellent as usual, the characters are strong. Already, I'm hooked.

I can't wait to read the rest!

Reviewing a five-chapter preview of Husband Material from NetGalley (thank you!)
Note: This review may not be reproduced or quoted in whole or in part without explicit consent from the author (also thank you).

First, a caveat: I love all things Alexis Hall, particularly because his writing inspires in me a sense of awe. I've read all of his more recent titles as well as his deeper back catalogue and love them for their brilliant wordplay, character development, humor, and complex-yet-accessible storytelling. His characters express a level of humanity not all authors capture.

I've read and reread the precursor to Husband Material, Boyfriend Material, so I was pleased to be reacquainted with all the characters I'd come to love within the first pages of HM. That said, I wasn't particularly excited to be introduced to a fringe character from the main character's past within said first few pages. I guess drama must be generated somewhere, including past loves who were and still are, quite obviously, douche-canoes.

I look forward to reading the rest of Husband Material because I haven't met an Alexis Hall book I didn't love. Even when I don't swoon over the story, I swoon over his writing.

(No star rating for the moment but, from the preview, I know this is likely going to be a five star read)

It has been two years since Luc and Oliver started dating and everyone around them is getting married, including Bridge, Tom, and Miles (Luc’s ex, sold their story to the tabloids, you know the one).

Like, Boyfriend Material, it was really funny, moving, and addictive. Oliver is still gentlemanly and formal in everything he does, and Luc is just as messy as ever (although one could argue that practically living with Oliver has helped manage said mess).

I can’t wait to get my hands on the full novel when it comes out in August!

How cute is the banter between Luc and Oliver! The five chapters definitely felt short for their adorable banter. I can feel there is a storm waiting to brew up between them and I feel anxious for them already. There seem to be cracks in the relationship and Luc seems to be self sabotaging. I can't wait to read more!!

I read Boyfriend Material in a day and was so excited to be able to read this five-chapter preview of its sequel!

It's two years after the events of Boyfriend Material. Bridget and Tom are getting married (Luc is Bridget's maid of honor), Luc still works for CRAPP, and Luc and Oliver are as strong as ever. This sequel truly felt like a continuation of the first book. The characters have grown and developed, as you expect real people would after two years, but the wittiness and charm are still there. We haven't seen any group texting yet, but there's been plenty of Luc-and-Oliver texting, including more Dick pics!

I am very excited for this book to come out because so far it has been exactly what made me fall in love with its predecessor! Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the preview!

This was such joy to revist the life of Luc and Oliver. I was immediately transferred to their world and the only problem was that 5 chapters felt painfully few. Especially that the conflict is growing and I was really nervous - and am, still - what would happen. It's almost cruel to be forced to wait till August now~!

It starts so good! I hope it stays that way!

Coming back to Luc and Oliver's world felt like a hug from an old friend. The preview chapters ended on a cliffhanger and I can't wait for the book to come out in full to know what happens next!

I actually signed up to Netgalley just to read this preview and it did not disappoint!

I absolutely adore Alexis Hall's sense of humour. All the characters (except Miles) are so adorable and quirky, especially Luc. You can see how much he's grown in the beginning of this one, he actually stops to think a little before jumping to the worst conclusions.

That ending though!!! 5 chapters was not enough and now I desperately need to know what's going to happen next! Not just to Luc and Oliver but to Bridge as well! Why is August so far away?!

Eeeeeeek, such a tease!!! I loved being back with Luc and Oliver.

This is already looking like the best follow-up to Boyfriend Material . . . now I need the rest.
