Wow this is an emotional rollercoaster right away.
This book is highly anticipated and is set to deliver. The current preview shows me that Hall has a lot up their sleeve for this instalment. bringing back the characters of Boyfriend Material and showing how they have grown as well has giving us a preview of how they are still growing and how things are changing and have changed. Domestic bliss and turmoil awaits.

Loved this teaser! It’s so good to see these characters again. I can’t wait to read the full book once it comes out.

Oh gosh I feel tension brewing with Oliver and Lucien over the upcoming nuptials with his ex and his friendship with Bridget. Lucien isn't prioritizing correctly....Need book now its stressing me!

Can't wait to read the full novel! Thanks for the preview.

OMG.
I know it's only the first five chapters, but this book. I cannot wait.
We pick up two years after we left off with Luc and Oliver together and willing to make it worth.

It's only the first five chapters in this preview but it is EVERYTHING and more.
Everyone is getting married? Check
Pressure is on? Check
Former characters making appearances? Check
Rhys Jones Bowen with a selfie stick? Check.

All this and more and OMG why do I have to wait till August?
Hall does a superb job of effortlessly picking up the tone and concerns of the first book while applying layers of his signature humor and wit. I love seeing Luc and Oliver making it work and how both of their insecurities and love for each other affect the other. Like a real relationship.

I really need a time machine to August 2nd. Anyone have one I can borrow?

I am so excited for the rest of this book! Olly is such a sweet character, but he's not a doormat, and Lucien is such a lively and hilarious viewpoint character. I can't wait to see where the rest of the story goes from here. The first five chapters are fantastic.

Only the first five chapters and I am bursting with joy to be back with Luc and Oliver! Alexis Hall continues their immense talent at cultivating characters who you care about and who have you laughing out loud. The Four Weddings And A Funeral vibes that this book is already giving five chapters in have me squealing with delight. Luc continues to be a character who you want to talk some sense into while simultaneously wanting to hug and hide from all the bad things in the world. I loved seeing Luc and Oliver’s dynamic as a full blown couple and the ways they balance watch other out, Oliver’s levelheadedness with Luc’s enthusiasm just make for amazing dialogue and banter than keep you coming back for more.

I cannot WAIT to be able to read the full book!

I regret reading these first 5 chapters because HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO WAIT UNTIL AUGUST NOW??? I'm already hooked and I want to know why Oliver is acting so weird? (I mean even for him).

It was great to go back to these characters and check that they still feel the same but a little bit more mature. But yeah Luc is still Luc and this book promises all the fun the first one brought us. I can't wait to read it!!

**Review of the 5 chapter preview from NetGalley! This review will be updated once I have read the whole book**

Husband Material had me laughing from the first page, just as Boyfriend Material did!

So far, the sequel did not disappoint! I loved seeing where our side characters are up to two years later. From a vulva hat scandal to a shitty reappearance of an arsehole ex-boyfriend and an accidental OnlyFans career, the first five chapters was jam packed with absolute brilliance and tension that I can’t wait to be resolved!

I’m on the edge of my fucking seat here, but I wouldn’t expect anything less from Alexis Hall.

I can’t wait for the rest!

Brilliant - if the rest of the book is the same as the first five chapters I will be ecstatic. I loved Boyfriend Material and Husband Material is shaping up to be just as good - CAN NOT wait.

This was absolutely wonderful, just as I had expected. Alexis Hall's writing is so witty and fun, you can't be immune to it; you get a smile on your face as soon as you start reading.
But, uhm, I might have made a huge mistake. I'm a binge reader, once I start a book that I like, I need to finish it in one seating. What am I supposed to do now? August feels years away.

funny & endearing. i have to admit that i was slightly nervous for this sequel, because i thought that luc's arc was already done by the end of book one, but arcs are never really done, are they? either way, i was laughing on every other page & am so excited to purchase the final copy.

Boyfriend Material" was so cute and adorbs so this book. So the sequel, "Husband Material" by Alexis Hall preview gives me a combination of "oh yeah more Luc and Oliver," but also "oh no, protect them." The initial 5 chapter preview alone makes me dread the emotional roller coaster that's to come. But you know I'll read it and enjoy every second.

I love Luc and Oliver so much. They are so great together. The cast of supporting characters are all so fun too. :) Totally LOL. Love the dialogue especially. So much wit and sarcasm in just 5 tiny chapters. :) I was already teased by the preview in Alexis Hall's January instagram posts and now I really can't wait to read the entire book. :)

Thank you for the preview!

Okay, so I know this is a preview witht the first five chapters only but the cliffhanger at the end of the teaser is ILLEGAL. It did it’s job though, and my interest is very much picked. Now excuse me while I go and do some ugly sobbing in a corner.

So I know this is literally a teaser but seriously what a TEASE!!!! I need this tapped into my veins right now. August cannot come quick enough. I’m already in love with this book

Alexis Hall manages to make me smile and laugh out loud, almost tear up, and make my blood boil in a handful of pages which is honestly unfair. How dare he make me FEEL so much so easily?! Especially when I have to reacquaint myself with all the characters besides Lucien and Oliver. Hall’s ability to move me is astounding I am genuinely mad at the way this preview ended, like talk about cliffhanger!

Luc’s inner turmoil, while not entirely relatable to me, feels so real, like watching a dear friend go through it and feeling powerless to give them even a comforting word or two. The visible growth of his faith in not just himself but Oliver and love, makes my heart glow; but what really brings the win is how aware he is of not just his growth but his fear of stumbling back a step or two. It’s so important to know that even when that does happen, it doesn’t mean that all the mountains you did climb mean nothing now, just that maybe you need a hand once in a while.

The balance between partners being true equals in a relationship, and one of them constantly taking care of the other is a complicated one to strike but Alexis Hall manages it without breaking a sweat. I know who’s backlist I simply need to be getting to in the near future.

I absolutely cannot wait for the rest of this book.

Oh my, I missed this story! Luc is a mess and I love reading about him, this hasn't changed a bit since book one.
Actually, everything is kind of a mess--the first chapter blew my mind in so many ways! And the second, with the jokes… It's all so weird and over the top, and at the same time so socially awkward! Hell, I love it to pieces.

It always amazes me how Alexis Hall manages to put all these different things together, and have them actually make sense. Not to mention that Luc's POV is a one-of-a-kind experience, it takes you with him word after word.

I admit that I did not expect a two-years time skip, because at the end of the first book I felt there were some things that needed to be addressed promptly, like Oliver's family, but maybe letting them stew will bring some major plot thing in this or the next book. In any case, I think that the author knows what they're doing, so I'm just going to sit here with blind faith. Or maybe not so blind, since I have to read, and I need my eyes for that.

Anyway. One loose end is coming around already in these first chapters. On Luc's part, not Oliver's, but it's also something that I was expecting to come back. Or maybe more something that I wanted to know more about, but this means that I really have nothing but good things to say about this preview.

Maybe I'm a little annoyed at this tic of writing phrases all glued together like they're a single word. I mostly read during the evening, when I'm already tired, and it really takes an effort to understand when thingsarewrittenthisway (unless is a compatibility thing with my e-reader?). But it's a small price to pay. Honestly, I would gladly accept one of these big words per page if it meant having this book sooner.

I’ve missed this cast of characters! It’s been a bit since I read Boyfriend Material, but this was so much fun. The 5 chapter preview was filled with plenty of laughs and hijinks like you would expect (the scenes at CRAPP were a hoot), but it’s clear that it’s not all smooth sailing for our characters just yet. Looking forward to reading the rest soon.

*I voluntarily read a 5 chapter preview of this book*

I really cannot wait for this one to come out. The tone of this one is still that same perfect balance of drama, ridiculous hijinks and cutesy romance. The state of Lucien and Oliver’s relationship at the end of this preview has me stressed and anxious for the rest of the story.

These first 5 chapters are such a tease! I love Luc and Oliver so much and I can’t wait to read the rest of their story. Boyfriend Material was on my top 5 reads of 2020 list because I simply cannot get enough of this couple. Getting to see them together for real (no more fake dating!) and being domestic together is so heart-warming. I can’t wait to read more!
