preview left me wanting more. i can’t wait to find out more about what happens between luc & oliver this time. the beginning definitely drew me in and already started to make me have a lot of emotions (especially bc of the ex!).

I am excited for this book to come out. HM picks up about 2years after the end of BM, and there is wedding fever in the air! It's nice to see where our characters are in live and their relationships two years on. The first few chapters set up the main story and review the prior book for those reading this as a standalone.

As delightful and funny as the prequel, the first chapters of Husband Material leave the reader breathless for more Oliver, Luc, and their zany circle of friends.

Such an absolutely fantastic start! Boyfriend Material is one of my favorite books, so I probably felt like everyone else who loved it feels--*very nervous*-- that Husband Material will not live up to my hopes/expectations. . .but I honestly don't know why I was worried. Alexis Hall is an incredible writer. And these characters charm me to pieces. Oliver is the stern brunch daddy of my dreams and I understand Luc on a soul level. I love them. This was such a perfect start, They are more comfortable with each other, and clearly in love, but some insecurities are popping up for them in these first chapters that are likely setting the stage. I sense that some mistakes will be made, but nothing they can't work out and I just can't wait to read every word of that journey!!!

Glad I got to read tbhis preview before deciding whether I wanted to read the full book. It definitely wasnt bad, but didnt spark my interest enough for me to want to read a whole nother book of these characters

I’m disappointed I didn’t like this more. I *loved* Boyfriend Material (I’ve read it twice!) but I was frustrated that Luc didn’t seem to have changed/grown as a person much from the first book. I guess it’s maybe realistic that trauma would mean indecision/paranoia would last several years, but I found it rather annoying.

Okay, I requested this after getting too excited but I'm gonna wait for the full book to come out, I just realized I don't like reading previews. However, I absolutely loved reading Boyfriend Material and I just CAN'T WAIT FOR THIS ONE!🥺 I had listened to the audiobook last year on Spotify and god did this book bring my work out routine on a regular road. The way Joe Jameson spoke 'Lucien' and 'verisimilitude' was IT for me. Saving all my bucks for Husband Material and I already know it's gonna be five fuckin stars. May even get myself a physical copy of Boyfriend Material lol, bless you Alexis Hall!😭💘

As a fan of Boyfriend Material I was excited for Husband Material to come out and after having read this preview I am even more excited.

Having left Luc and Oliver happily ever after in Boyfriend Material we pick back up with them with Luc as maid of honor for his best friend organizing her hen do when he bumps into his ex, Miles, who informs him that he is getting married. Suddenly everything is crashing down as Miles invites Luc to his wedding and Bridget`s fiance is caught possibly cheating. With so much strain how will Luc and Oliver do?

I really love these characters and am looking forward to spending more time with them when the book is fully released. So far I like the plot points that have hit and I appreciate that Hall hasn't written off Luc's previous trauma and mental health experiences just because he is now in a relationship with Oliver.

Can't wait for more!

Honestly, this just makes me more excited for August 2nd!! Every time I read something from Alexis Hall, it makes me happy. And this cover is just so perfect!

This is only the beginning but I'm already soooo annoyed with alll the repetition, it's ridiculous. Can the author use different sentences? Can the author have a change of pace? Can the author use any other type of writing to not bore use to the core? See what I mean? It might not be that annoying if I do it once like this, but imagine if I do it again in the m=next paragraph with another phrase, and then on the next page again. It was like this in chapter one -_-

I hope it won't be like this in the whole book!

I really enjoyed the first few chapters and would be interested in reading the rest! I MISSED MY BOYS SM <3333 ABSOLUTELY CANT WAIT TO READ THE REST OF THE BOOK!!!!!!

Husband Material is the continuation of Boyfriend Material (a book I absolutely loved). I was so thrilled to be able to read this preview. It made me even more excited for the new book! I can already tell I'll enjoy it as much as the first novel.

Getting a preview of Husband Material was a great surprise -- I loved Boyfriend Material -- and I could not wait to get back into the lives of Luc and Oliver!

As a thank you to the publisher and Netgalley, I write this review. It has been two years and for Luc and Oliver we pick up some time after the original. These five chapters gave the reader enough information to learn how these characters have grown and areas still needing growth. I am wanting to pick up the original just to experience their romance all over again. Overall the first five chapters were not enough. I need to continue reading!! I enjoyed re-entering the world of Luc and Oliver and cannot await to see what this sequel holds for them. I am anxiously awaiting this release and highly recommend it for fans of Queer romances, Gay romance, and wholesome vibes.
