Dream On - Angie Hockman

This book was such a surprise for me because I went into it knowing absolutely nothing about it. Even the reveal in the prologue was a surprise to me. I’m so glad I went in blind because I had a lot of fun reading this one, and after really enjoying two of Angie Hockman’s books, I’m definitely excited to continue picking up her romances.

I don’t want to say too much about this one, but I’ll just say I really liked watching the romance develop, and I really like the direction this book took. This book also focused a lot on the main character Cass’s career. She’s a summer associate at a law firm but starts to question whether that’s the right path for her, and whether that will make her happy. I loved watching her growth, and overall really enjoyed this book!

to be honest when i started this book i wasn’t that intrigued i felt like i knew where it was going? but then when lines were blurred with the love interest, i was way more interested. i did enjoy the reveal as to how she knew devin when she woke up although some parts of the plot were pretty predictable

As a massive fan of Angie Hockman’s debut ‘Shipped’ I was excited beyond measure to receive an eARC for 'Dream On' and friends, it was an incredible read! Since this beautiful story is already out in the world, frankly I’m disappointed in Bookstagram that we haven’t been celebrating it more!

Keeping this ✨“spoiler-free✨ will be a task and a half but I want for you the reading experience I enjoyed: delightfully shocked — numerous times! — at every twist and the creative but deeply meaningful conflict resolution.

Cass Walker wakes up from a six-day coma to the harsh reality that the perfect boyfriend of whom she has been dreaming — Devin Bloom — is a figment of her concussed imagination. A lengthy rehab for her traumatic brain injury, cracked ribs and a fractured tibia see Cass finally beginning work as a summer associate at prestigious Cleveland law firm Smith & Boone. To her family and friends, Cass has seemingly healed from her mental, emotional and physical injuries. Internally, her heart desperately beats for the man of her dreams.

When Devin Bloom — Devin Szymanski, in real life — materializes, it’s a mystery to both strangers how Cass can possibly know such personal and intimate details about his life. As they work to learn the truth, a real relationship forms between the two and Cass grows close to both Devin and his brother, Perry, third-generation owner of a family florist shop Blooms & Baubles.

🌷“‘𝘚𝘰, 𝘐’𝘮 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘢𝘯 𝘰𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘮𝘴?’”🌷

Hockman writes a clever, exceptionally well-researched, unexpected and cheeky romantic comedy characterized by: flirty new romance; career conflicts and growth; complicated family dynamics; thoughtful exploration of the complexities of the human heart and NUMEROUS completely unexpected twists and conflicts. The story progresses seamlessly and effortlessly with the organic development of character thoughts and feelings, indicative of Hockman’s tremendous talent and effort. I was fully-immersed and completely forgot I was reading.

🌼“𝘕𝘰𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘣𝘢𝘴𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘯 𝘋𝘦𝘷𝘪𝘯’𝘴 𝘢𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘪𝘴 𝘢 𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘳𝘦.”🌼

This sweet romance is deeply layered, surprising and completely heartwarming and heartfelt at every turn. Hockman redefines what it means for characters to earn their happily ever after and will have your cheeks both stretched from smiling and sprinkled with tears through thoughtful character reflections and the injection of cute & quirky inside jokes — like every mention of “Rogue Curl,” Cass’ post-op hair regrowth who refuses to be tamed, personified by her best friend Brie.

I really liked this book. The cover is definitely what pulled me in at first and I mean a guy who owns a flower shop - melt my heart. I liked that it wasn't a story or plot line Ive really read before. There wasn't a lot of steam - just kissing... until the epilogue ;). Overall a really cute story and Ill def be checking out this authors other books.

When I finished reading Shipped I wasn't sure I was going to give Angie Hockman another chance but the premise of this one hooked me in. After waking up from a coma, Cass has all these memoires of a relationship that never happened. But when she runs into Devin the man of her dreams her whole world turns upside down.I really enjoyed following along with this one, and all the side plots that were developed and how they all flushed out was quite impressive. I am now looking forward to trying Angie Hockman's next book!

Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for providing me with an arc for an honest review.

Dream On by Angie Hockman had such a unique storyline. Waking up 6 days after being in a coma, Cassidy has vivid memories of her boyfriend Devin. The catch? Devin doesn't exist . So what happens when, almost a year later, Cassie meets the real Devin?

This story was very short and sweet. I kind of had a feeling of what would happen very early on bud enjoyed the story either way.

This book definitely grabbed my attention with the cover! I mean, look at it! It is beautiful & cute 💕 and I absolutely loved this authors other novel Shipped. As much as I enjoyed this easy read, I did enjoy Shipped more.

I loved how the characters went after their own futures, and what they wanted out of life. But I did find it hard to wrap my head around everything that happened. I loved the idea of a flower shop being the centre, and how everything was wrapped around it. I haven't read a story like this one before, and it did keep my attention for the most part.

Marcus and Brie were a fav for me, and I would love to be able to read about them!

Overall, this was a cute, easy read, and the cover is still absolutely gorgeous 💕💕💕

Angie Hockman is quickly becoming a favourite author of mine. I absolutely loved Shipped and I really enjoyed Dream On too. This book was kinda wild LOL - the MC said it herself, the circumstances are rather unbelievable and I couldn’t help but chuckle because, to me, it’s something that can only happen in a book or movie haha. That being said, this turned out to be a really lovely story, not only about falling in love, but also in terms of figuring out who you are and what happiness is/means to you. This was a super fun and easy read, definitely recommend.

CW: Car accident, memory issues.

A huge thanks to Simon & Schuster Canada and NetGalley for the e-ARC. All opinions are my own.

Cass Walker wakes up in the hospital and doesn’t know how she ended up there or where her boyfriend Devin Bloom is. They have been together a while and he isn’t there. She is confused and only becomes more confused as her mom and best friend tell her they don’t know what she is talking about. They have never heard of this boyfriend. Cass checks her phone and there is no contact for Devin. How can this be? She has all these memories of things they have done together. Eventually Cass accepts that these must be false memories even though they seem so real. One day on her way back from work she stops into a flower shop and there’s Devin….

This was a quick and fun read over a few days. I enjoyed the storyline - I haven’t read anything like this. There were some funny and cute sections in this story. It is a great summer read that I would recommend to someone who wants to read something cute without too much steam. The book is written in a single viewpoint on one timeline that plugs forward at a fairly fast pace. I would rate this book 7.5/10.

Dream On was another easy and lovely book by Angie Hockman. Although, typically I am not a fan of love triangles, the story tackled it in a way that didn’t have me hating it and I thoroughly enjoyed the different pull Cass had towards her two love interests.

There was such a unique plot and I really loved the mystery that was revealed at the end kept this story interesting. Although I felt this was missing a bit of the specialness that Shipped had, it still was a cute read.

Thank you Gallery Books for the arc. Thoughts expressed in this review are completely my own.

Dream On by Angie Hockman follows law student Cass Walker. When she wakes up from a coma after surviving a car accident, all she can think about is reuniting with her boyfriend Devin. When her family tells her there is no Devin—that there never was a Devin—Cass is confused because she has vivid memories of being with him. A year later, Cass is shocked to run into the real Devin in a Cleveland flower shop. When Cass explains it all to him, Devin surprisingly believes her. They begin a real-life romance. Cass is happy to have her dream man a summer job at a big law firm coming up. But things are complicated when life throws a curveball at Cass.

This is such a unique plot. That is what made me want to pick up this book. The book didn’t really go in the direction I wanted, though. I found the romantic development wasn’t as strong as it could have been.

Cass Walker is in a car accident and when she wakes up from a coma, she learns that the guy she thought she was dating was actually just a dream. That is, until she meets the real life Devin. The two of them spend time together trying to figure out how she knows him so well if the two had never met.

This was actually a really cute romance with some fun twists and turns. Cass was a great protagonist as she was resilient after her car accident in wanting to carry on with her life, but also knew she needed time to recuperate and take things slow. I loved reading about her experiences as a summer law associate gunning for a full time position. I also loved the flower shop setting for Devin’s family!

CW: car accident, memory loss, pregnancy, miscarriage.

3.5/5 Stars

When Cass Walker wakes up after a car accident and a six day coma, she searches the room for her loving boyfriend, Devin Bloom. She becomes confused when she is told by her friends and family that this man doesn't exist. Two years later, after extensive therapy, Cass is ready to forget her vivid memories of Devin and begin her law degree again. To congratulate herself on the progress, she stops at a local flower shop, and runs into none other than Devin Bloom himself.

I flew through this book and read it in two sittings. I found this to be cute, but a pretty average romance read in my opinion. I do think it would make a great rom-com movie though! The love-triangle in this was fairly well-done although I was not a fan of Devin. He made me angry on multiple occasions with the way he treated Cass, especially in front of his friends. I was definitely team Perry all the way. I loved how passionate he was about the flower shop and how badly he wanted to save it. My favourite relationship in the book was not the romantic one, it was between Cass and her best friend Brie. I loved how supportive they were of one another, and I truly hope we get Brie's story at some point from this author! I was able to call the "big reveal" as soon as the character was introduced so that was a bit of a bummer. I also wasn't the biggest fan of how a character was almost villainized for having a miscarriage.

This was absolutely adorable. I've seen it compared to While You Were Sleeping and that is so accurate. If you want a sweet easy read, this one is for you

This was adorable!! It was such a sweet romcom that just made my heart super happy. I don’t have anything bad to say about this book. The only thing is that I guessed the two “twists” from the beginning but, honestly, that’s likely because it just follows the traditional romcom formula.

Every once in a while a rom-com comes along that hits the spot in all the right places and Dream on did just that for me. The premise, the characters, writing style, my reading location (pool-side!!!) and somehow I ended up finishing this book in less than a day.

Cass wakes up from a car accident coma with her best friend and her mom by her side. But where is Devin, her loving boyfriend, the one she shared many romantic moments with? Or did she? A year later Cass is about to start a summer job at a prestigious law form, she just moved in with her best friend and she is working on accepting the fact that Devin is just a creation of her imagination. So when she comes face to face with the real Devin at a local flower shop what is she to think but that the fate somehow brought them together. Dating the real guy just might end up turning Cass's world upside down in ways she never could've anticipated.

I absolutely loved the mystery surrounding Cass's memories of Devin. Cass was an endearing character trying to figure out herself in her post-accident existence. Side characters were equally interesting and though the story development followed the true and tested rom-com formula there were enough twists and turns to prevent me from wanting to put the world down. This was such a wholesome, feel good read and I can't recommend it enough not just for romance lovers but also for any emotion driven reader wanting to feel warm and fuzzy. Dream on is definitely one of my all time favorite romance reads!

Thanks to NetGalley and Simon & Schuster Canada for providing me with an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!

What happens when you wake up out of a 6 day coma with memories of a boyfriend you have never met, and then a year later he turns out to be real?

Angie created a unique story line and it was really promising for me. I loved the idea of the “dream” guy, and the cover was super catchy as well but the story fell a little short for me with the love triangle. The beginning of the story held my attention and I was hoping for good things as the plot began to play out. The story just didn’t seem to end with the “love” story punch I was looking for.

I will say that I love Angie Hockman’s writing and her sweet romcom stories and I’m looking forward to reading her future works as well.

Thanks to NetGalley and Gallery Books for sharing this digital reviewer copy with me in exchange for my honest thoughts.

What a fun book! I read Shipped last year by Angie Hockman and really enjoy it so I knew I was going to like this one too!

Can you imagine waking up from a coma and the one person you desperately want to see is your boyfriend and he is not there? Wait, do I have a boyfriend? You are told by your best friend and mother that they do not know of a guy named Devin Bloom and you have no evidence of him either. Cassidy is so confused!

But when she moves to start her summer associate program in Ohio City, she comes face to face with Devin Bloom. He was not a dream!

This book was so entertaining and I could not wait to see how it ends. I don’t want to spoil it but it has a dream boyfriend, his brother, dream job, strong female characters and a wonderful ending!

Angie's books are a pure delight. This novel felt like it could be a straight to TV Rom-Com. It had twists, whimsy, hot brothers, and coma girl. Like what more could you ask for?

It was a bit predictable in some places, which had me rolling my eyes in a few spots but honestly over all this gave me the warm and fuzzies I wanted.
