A wonderful read just in time for summer. It had a unique start and I loved that the main character was intelligent while still being in their 20โ€™s, refreshing. I love that their are holes in the story that get filled in slowly over time keeping the reader interested.

This was the most intriguing concept for a book that Iโ€™ve read recently. I liked how unique the storyline was and I thought that Percy and Cass were great characters.

One thing I didnโ€™t like is how a past miscarriage was handled for a side character

At first, I thought the story would be straightforward, but as I was reading, I realized it may not have the ending I was anticipating. Even though some parts were predictable, I was all-in!

Since Iโ€™m an Ohioan, I really enjoyed the setting of the book, which was mainly near Cleveland. Plus, when I read the main characterโ€™s favorite show, I was immediately fully supportive of anything the main character did. Sorry not sorry! Itโ€™s a toxic trait of mine. Anyway, Dream On was an easy, quick read, and the storyline was intriguing! I enjoyed the characterโ€™s depths and personalities. I couldnโ€™t get enough - all the way through the very end!

Book Review:
This one gave me slight While You Were Sleeping vibes but done in a very original way.

Cass experiences a car crash after taking the bar exam when she seemingly has her dream job and next steps all coming up that become derailed by her TBI as a result of the accident.

When she wakes up she just wants to see her boyfriend Devin, kicker is he doesnโ€™t exist according to phone records, family, and all other checks looking for this man she very clearly remembers as her boyfriend of three months prior to her accident.

So what happens when she runs into the Devin from her coma dreams and starts to get to know him after seeing him in his brotherโ€™s floral shop?

In this charming and quite adorable summer romance, dreams and reality weave together to create an original love story full of surprises and second chances.

When Cass wakes up from a coma after a terrible accident, she is riddled with lingering memories of a mystery man she thinks is her boyfriend. Yet, with no photos or text messages from him, her doctors, friends, and family conclude that he doesnโ€™t exist. But, what happens when a year later she runs into him in person and he believes her story?

At its core, this book was a story about dreams, dreams of finding your soulmate, ambitions of pursuing your โ€˜dream careerโ€™, and discovering your own form of happiness.

My favorite part of this book was that the romance was totally unexpected, full of clever twists and turns brimming with emotion and intention. I also really enjoyed how the story intertwined with the theme of self-discovery and how oneโ€™s passions and dreams can evolve and change over time.

Overall, it was a super cute romance absolutely perfect for summer with a small-town in a big city feel and a simmering yet sweet romance. If you loved Hockmanโ€™s previous book, definitely add this one to your list as well!

Dream On is a cute, light, summer read. Cass wakes up from a coma wanting to see her boyfriend, only to learn that he is not real. She struggles with her seemingly very real memories of him for almost a year and is finally ready to move on when she wanders into a flower shop and comes face-to-face with him in real life. After much skepticism from many sides, their romance finally ensues. But is it everything Cass has ever dreamed about? Why would the universe give her memories of him and bring them together if they weren't meant to be? Read this sweet romance to find out!

I really liked the premise of this story. There were a food good twists and turns that I had already figured out, but enjoyed nonetheless. I enjoyed reading about Cass's position at the law firm, and absolutely loved the flower shop. Seeing Cass grow and develop throughout the book was satisfying. I really enjoyed all of the side characters as well, and would have loved more background/development on them. The dog and the bird were great too!

This isn't a typical romance book, which I loved. There is a bit of a love triangle but it really wasn't too intense. I usually don't like love triangles, but this one wasn't bad. It didn't have as much intense chemistry between the love interests as I usually like to see, but there was some as it got closer to the end. Although it is an open-door romance, the spice happens at the very end which, to be honest, seemed a bit gratuitous and could have been omitted. However, it was still a very cute read that I would recommend to anyone who wants a romance that questions fate and follows a main character as she begins to find herself and realizes that what she really wants in life is not what she had always thought.

3.5/5

Imagine waking from a coma and believing you've been dating the "Man of Your Dreams." Only, he didn't happen or actually exist until you stumble across the visionary man one day in a local flower shop. What's left to do but spill your secret and see "why" this man filled your memories upon waking-up.

Dream On is both a romance and mystery as Cassidy (Cass) searches for answers in life and love. This is a unique novel all comes together in the end, and the romance had me smiling too. As a resident of Ohio, I throughly enjoyed reading this novels setting in Cleveland. Hockman you've got a book fan for life, enjoyed this novel just as much as Shipped.

If you like romances with a hint of magic this was pretty dang adorable.

This is the second book by the author and she has a knack for writing strong and admirable heroines. Paired with the whimsy of the storyline this was a sweet read. It did have one of my least favorite tropes, stop reading if you donโ€™t want to knowโ€ฆ.

But there was a love triangle and ugh I really and truly always struggle with that one and I didnโ€™t love it here. This couldโ€™ve been a five star read for me besides that aspect, it really was a cute one, but I wish I had known about the love triangle ahead of time so Iโ€™m sharing just in case youโ€™re like me. If that doesnโ€™t bother you though this was a charming one.

4 stars! This book was cute. Cass wakes up from a coma and insists that she has a boyfriend named Devin. She knows everything about him. But when it's proven that he doesn't exist she can't help but think of him and sketch him.

But one year later she walks into a flower shop and who is there but Devin himself. The flower shop is owned by Perry, Devins's brother. At first, Perry believes that Cass is a stalker and is out to get Devin. But over the next couple of months, the three of them grow closer. Will Cass truly find the man of her dreams?

I loved all the characters in this book, even the dog and the parrot. The way that Angie Hockman described the flower shop, it was like I was there watching it all play out. Every scene had so much detail. I loved that. While I was able to figure out "Sadie" this was still a good book and one that I will recommend.

PG-13 for a barely open door romance

After enjoying Angie Hockman's Shipped, I was excited to receive the advanced copy of her next book. The premise had so much potential--a woman wakes up from a coma expecting to see her boyfriend only to find out he was a figment of her imagination... Until she runs into him a year later and finds they've never met before. And it was set in Cleveland, my childhood home state too! But unfortunately, the execution of this book did not live up to my expectations.

There were so many side characters in this book and subplots that this book felt overworked but underdeveloped. The characters were flat and painted as good and evil without exploring much of the nuance behind their actions in a substantial way. And the use of a miscarriage as a plot device was not necessary and will likely be painful for readers who have been heartbroken by a miscarriage. And finally, this book is set in one of Cleveland's most diverse neighborhoods, but this book had very limited diversity and I just did not find this acceptable.

I loved the premise for this book and some of the scenes were so fun like the Fourth of July party and how Cass grew as a character to want to help create change in her community. But there were parts of this book that just didn't work for me. I'll be curious to see what Angie writes next and hope her next book will work better for me.

This was a sweet romance. I like that it was a unique story. Right away youโ€™re intrigued as to how Cass remembers Devin. It was funny when she first meets him at the flower shop! I loved the chemistry between Cass and Devonโ€™s brother, Perry. He is so sweet with her. My heart swooned at one scene when he gives her an easel as he knows that she loves to paint. Iโ€™m not the biggest fan of love triangles but this was done in an interesting way. Cass has all these memories of Devon but yet in real life theyโ€™ve only gone on a few dates. I felt like it didnโ€™t cause fo too much drama and I liked that a lot. One thing I wasnโ€™t expecting was for this book to be sort of an open door romance. I distinctly remember the authorโ€™s previous book being a closed-door romance so I was surprised ( but in a good way ;) to see that this one was not.

Now that Iโ€™ve got you humming Aerosmith along with me, let me tell you about the latest release by @angie_hockman entitled, you guessed it, Dream On.

In what might best be described as While You Were Sleeping meets Legally Blonde, Dream On is the story of law student, Cass Walker. Shortly after taking the bar exam, Cass is in a bad car accident, resulting in her being in a coma. When she wakes up sheโ€™s happy to see so many familiar faces, only one is missing- her boyfriend, Devin Bloom. The only problem?

Chalking it up to being rattled by the accident, her family is understanding, but concerned with Cassโ€™s insistence. I mean he has to be real, right? How else would she have very specific memories of their time together, of his childhood, or be able to sketch him in such a detailed manner? Moving on from any breakup is hard, but when you break up with your fictional boyfriend itโ€™s a whole new type of tragedy.

Fast forward a year and Cass is in the process of getting her life back on track. Then she walks into a flower shop and stumbles into, quite literally, the man of her dreams. He doesnโ€™t know who she is, but all she recalls about him proves to be accurate. With no reasonable explanation to speak of, Cass has to wonder, are some dreams destined to come true or are some dreams just too good to be true?

Dream On is the follow up to the enemies to lovers romance, Shipped. I enjoyed Shipped, but was smitten with Dream On. Something about this book, while unique, still gave me all the throwback feels of the romcoms of yesteryear. Stories like theses still live on in the literature world, but are harder to come by on the big screen. I mean I know Sandra Bullock got older, but so did Tom Cruise and look how that is working out.

So if youโ€™re anything like me and looking for a good old fashioned love story, Dream On should get out of the store, and on to your bookshelf. (Bonus points if you get what I did there). ๐Ÿ˜‰

I loved this book!

Cass wakes up from a coma wondering where her boyfriend isโ€ฆ only to discover heโ€™s not real.

Until a year later there he is. Devin is real as well as all the things she knows about him. This book is charming and romantic packed with the best surprise! I definitely think fate was spot on in this adorable story of finding love.

2.5 stars, rounded up. There's nothing really wrong with this romance, but there isn't much right with it either. It's cute enough, with a catchy premise and a couple to root for. But I just didn't really care that much about the story while I was reading it. This might have been because it all felt very predictable. I can't usually fault a romance for being predictable, because that's one thing the genre is supposed to be: the couple is supposed to end up together. But with this premise -- the protagonist dreamed about an imaginary boyfriend during her coma and then found out he really exists -- there were some little mysteries and surprises that were laid out in the story. Unfortunately, it was all still predictable and I could see everything coming a mile away, even the outcome of the cringe-y story with the dream boyfriend's ex. I don't have huge expectations for romance novels, but many of them are really falling short now, and I'm finding that most of the ones that do are the ones with younger protagonists. So maybe I'm just too old for these books? I would recommend this book to folks who like to read a quick romance with young characters.

Thank you so much to NetGalley for allowing me to read an ARC of the novel "Dream On" by Angie Hockman! This book is scheduled to release on July 5th, 2022.

Let me first start out by saying that this read was personally a 4.5/5 stars for me! I thought that the premise was very unique - Cass wakes up from a 6-day coma following a car accident and is very insistent that she has been dating someone named Devin Bloom for the last 3 months - despite the fact that her best friend Brie and her mother are thinking otherwise, because she's never mentioned him before to either of them, or shown them a picture of him. When she is finally released from the hospital, she finds herself drawing him in her sketchbook.

One day, she walks into a flower shop to celebrate a job opportunity and comes face to face with the man she's claimed to have been dating. Together, the two of them work to figure out how their paths might've crossed in a previous moment.

At first, I totally thought that I had this book figured out. When the story mentions that Devin has a scar on his face, I assumed that it was from the accident, and that he'd collided with her on the road, many months ago. I was so ready to call this book predictable, but then it threw me for a loop that even I didn't see coming. For some reason, I also didn't make the "Mercedes" connection" - but that's good, because not knowing is what made this even more of an enjoyable read for me!

I was an enormous fan of Angie Hockman's first book, Shipped, and I was so over the moon to get this book from the publisher! Thank you again for the copy in exchange for an honest review.

I think the synopsis of the book is amazing but it just fell a little flat for me. It included a few of my least favorite tropes: love triangle, instant love, fake pregnancy drama, etc. I also guessed all the twists at only 1/3 of the way through the book so that made it hard to finish.

I can definitely see many fans of romance liking the book so I encourage all to read it. It just wasn't for me. But, I will absolutely read Hockman's next book since I like her writing ideas and loved Shipped.

Thank you NetGalley and Gallery Books for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I have not read Shipped by the same author, but Iโ€™ve heard amazing things about it so I was really looking forward to this one. I have to say, though, it was not the book for me.

To a start, it had three tropes that I am not a fan of: love triangle, instant love, and rude, competitive coworkers.

The majority of the book was completely predictable. Normally I donโ€™t mind that in a romcom, but I didnโ€™t enjoy it in this one.

The โ€œdream manโ€ is a good guy, but forever behaving like a jerk and trying to make up for it. It got really old by the end. And the love triangle just felt icky the whole way through. Honestly, I didnโ€™t feel like any of the characters had much depth in general, and I found most of them annoying.

The sex scenes are open door, which Iโ€™m totally fine with, but thereโ€™s something at the end (no spoilers) that just felt really off.

I was intrigued enough that I did not want to DNF. It was a quick and easy read. And the cover is gorgeous!! Iโ€™m glad I finished it, but I cannot say that I would recommend this one to others.

I wasn't sure about the premise of this book. It's so unique that it almost felt weird at first, but when I got farther into the book, the uniqueness totally worked. Cass wakes from a coma with very clear memories of Devin. Who she has never actually met in real life. When runs into the real life Devin a year later, she is met with the mystery of real vs dream and is he truly her dream man?

Through getting to know Devin, she gets to know herself. Hijinks and drama ensue. The friend groups and co workers in this story add so much depth and fun. The community is wonderful. The story is easy to read and fast paced and was perfect for a night at home. If you liked Shipped, you definitely will enjoy Dream On

I'm conflicted with whether or not I actually enjoyed this book. I feel like, as a whole, it was enjoyable, but there were numerous scenes/situations that soured it for me, like:
**Spoilers Ahead**
-Sadie's "fake" pregnancy, Devin's clue-gathering (e.g., blood in Sadie's trashcan), and Devin's reaction in the hospital. This whole situation between Sadie and Devin was really cringe-worthy for me.
-Cassy's ten-foot mural, miraculously completed in a handful of hours during one night. This is just silly for anyone who has ever painted anything ever- just not possible to accomplish.
-Cassy and Perry's explicit sex scene at the end that does not match the tone of the rest of the book. Had there been steamy scenes like this throughout the book, this would not have stood out, but this was really out of nowhere.

These were a few of the scenes that made me cringe/roll my eyes.

The premise, however, was cool, and I really liked Cassy and Perry's characters. But, all in all, the story fell short for me.

Special thanks to NetGalley and Gallery Books for sharing this digital ARC with me in exchange for my honest review.

Dream On was a cute romance read. If you are looking for a quick read, this is the book to pick up.
Main character, Cass, has been in a car accident and wakes up after 6 days in a coma. She is totally confused as to what happened. She does know she had a boyfriend before the accident. Or, did she? Was he a dream? How can it he be a dream when it seems so real?
Perfect for your summer reading list!
