What if the guy you’ve dreamed about for long time suddenly become real? He wasn’t just a figment of your imagination? And what if your dream pertaining to your career is about to happen? But what if, faced with all your dreams coming true, you maybe don’t harbor those same dreams?
Dream On is a cute read. Cass’ life is getting back on track, but she’s still a bit scattered. I knew the direction the plot was taking after a bit.
Dreams can change as people change, you just have to keep dreaming.
This was an exceptionally sweet read. I'm not usually a fan of love triangles, but Dream On managed to have just enough tension to keep you guessing without making it overly dramatic. I also thought the side romances were a nice touch, this was a romance book just chock full of love. I also appreciate when a story is wrapped up all nice and neat by the happily ever after, and Dream On certainly met that criteria as well.
Dream On was a low-stakes romance with lots of fluff and some interesting twist and turns. A perfect read for the summertime.
2.5 Stars!
Overall, this book was fine. I didn't love it, I didn't hate it. By the end, I felt fairly neutral about the characters and the story, even the romance. I appreciated the unexpected turn the the plot took - I would have not guessed the direction the book would ultimately take based on the synopsis. I kept waiting to love it, to grow more invested as the chapters came and went. Unfortunately, it just never happened.
I did enjoy the writing style though and I would probably pick up another book by the author in the future even though this one wasn't for me.
I had really high hopes for this book after reading Shipped. But honestly, the characters did not appeal to me as much as I had hoped. I really wanted to see so much more quirkiness.
Imagine you’re in a car accident, end up in a coma for a week and then wake up with memories you don’t remember having? That’s exactly what happened to Cass when she wakes up and wonders why her boyfriend, Devin, hadn’t visited her in the hospital. Cass’s imaginary boyfriend doesn’t exist and just when she’s finally accepting that she meets the real live Devin and his brother at the family flower shop. Cass decides to take a chance and explore the possibilities created for her from her coma-induced dreams and find out if Devin is the man she’s been destined to be with.
Cass went through so much personal growth since her accident and truly found what made her happy in life. She rediscovered a part of herself she lost and found her own way to spread joy. Devin really is a good guy, a little misguided at times, but there when it counted. Perry is so caring and heartfelt; he truly wanted nothing but the best for Cass. The friendship between Brie and Cass is want everyone wants and needs and I really want a book about Brie and Marcus. *hint hint*
This is my second book by @angie_hockman and I love her effortlessly writing style and the characters she creates. Dream On isn’t a feisty work place romance story like Shipped. Dream On is heartfelt exploration of rediscovering one’s self while she decides what her heart truly wants- the man of her literal dreams or the one who brings her heart joy.
Thank you @gallerybooks , @angie_hockman and @netgalley for this eARC in exchange for my honest feedback.
This book, omg!! So freaking cute! I haven’t read anything quite like this before. It was like a Hallmark movie but BETTER!!
Following a terrible accident, Cass wakes up with vivid memories of a romance with a man, it turns out, who she has never actually met. When he happens to show up in her life one day while she is in flower shop, things get even crazier… He even believes her!
But that is only PART if this sweet and unexpected romance story… because her dream man is real, but is he her destiny?
I loved the flower shop! I loved how Cass was so artistic and was reminded of her absolute love for it through this book.
This was fun and incredibly entertaining. I saw a few things coming but still loved every minute! Angie Hockman hits me with a five star every single time!
Dream On
Rating: 4 stars
Thank you to the publisher for the ARC given through NetGalley for review. All opinions are my own.
To start off I had never read a story like this. It was very unique and I loved how the author unraveled who really was Cass' true love and how she came to find him. I really don't want to say much because I feel that it would spoil the story, but I highly recommend it!
Also, one of the best parts of this book was the friendship between Cass and Brie. Brie was such an awesome character. I kind of wish she would have gotten her own story, but she does find her HEA.
I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
There are some parts of this book that are unrealistic, but it was still an enjoyable book!
Recent law school graduate Cass Walker wakes up from a six day coma following a car accident, with a mind full of memories of a boyfriend named Devin...who doesn't exist. She can't stop thinking about him, but tries to move on with her post-accident life, until she runs into the real Devin, right out of her dreams. The romance seems meant to be, but fate might have other plans...
Dream On is a sweet, fluffy, heartwarming romance with an intriguing premise that more than sustains the fast-paced story. It features an engaging protagonist in ambitious, spirited Cass, who is matched by an appealing love interest and enjoyable ensemble of supporting characters. Fast, fun, swoonily romantic and deeply heartwarming, with a solution to the mysterious set-up that felt entirely satisfying. I enjoyed every minute of it.
Thanks to Gallery Books for the advance copy!
I had previously really loved this author's previous book, Shipped, so was definitely interested in picking up her next one sign unseen. But when the blurb came out for this one I was even more interested because it was just such a bonkers sounding set up. This is definitely one where you just have to accept the premise as fact and not think too hard about how realistic it is and if you can do that this is a fun book!
About 30% in I realized part of this book was going in a different direction than expected, but in a direction I was very quickly sold on post revelation and I love what she did with this. And yes I'm being vague on purpose because I liked not knowing about this beforehand!
Overall the plot was well placed and was a very sweet, romance. I really liked our couple together and loved how they complimented each other's personalities so well. And this is (mostly) a sweet romance in the other sense of the word as the only steamy scene in the book was in the epilogue. Something I didn't particularly mind, but I know some readers want higher steam reads so I wanted to mention it.
The one thing I didn't love was how some things went during the last 10-15% or so. First off, there was one aspect of the plot I thought was going to end in a trope I do not like. It ended up not going there, which was refreshing, but I didn't particularly like where it ended up either? Honestly this wrinkle of plot could have just been left out all together or altered easily in a way that it would have worked much better. It added an "omg" moment at the end that was totally unnecessary. I also was very frustrated when a very brief, half chapter long conflict arose at like the 90% mark between our couple. Like, it was so not needed at that point that it frustrated me right at the end.
When Cass awakens from a coma following a car accident, she has multiple memories of a man she has never met. Ten months later, she has recovered from most of her injuries, but the question still remains: Why does she have so many memories of her time with a man that she doesn't know?
When she goes to a local flower shop and sees the man from her memories, everyone is shocked. All of her family and friends have always assumed that she made up this man in her head, but now he is here in the flesh, and his name is Devin.
This was such an original and interesting premise for a romance! I loved this story of Cass trying to find out what she wants out of life, and how far she is willing to go to find out if Devin and she are fated to be. There are many wonderfully detailed supporting characters in this book, that really make the story enjoyable. Add in a plot to try and save the floundering flower shop from corrupt big businessmen, and I'm sold.
Another gem from Angie Hockman. I'm a big fan of her writing, and will now impatiently wait for more from her!
Thank you to Gallery Publishing for providing me with an ARC of this book.
The concept of Dream On immediately intrigued me. Cass wakes up from a coma with memories of her boyfriend Devin—with no trace of him in real life. Her friends and family have never heard of him, and she doesn’t have any texts or emails from him, yet a year after her accident, she runs into the man from her memories.
I wasn’t sure where this was going to go, but I trusted Angie Hockman to deliver (I’m a big Shipped fan!) and she did! This felt unique and I was invested in seeing how everything played out for these characters. I also enjoy when a romance includes a bit of character soul searching—outside of the romantic relationship. I really liked all of the ancillary storylines included, from Cass’s career path, her BFFs budding relationship and Devin’s family drama. I found it satisfying to read how it all comes together in the end.
I also love when lesser-known cities get some setting love! I’m sure Cleveland fans will enjoy the references to streets, locations and home teams throughout this book. Little details like that are things that I enjoy!
Thank you to NetGalley and Gallery Books for the advanced copy and the opportunity to share my honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
👍🏻: The storyline. Cass looking for the man in her actual dreams was a great mix of romance and mystery.
👍🏻: This book has a Hallmark vibe with added spice. It’s definitely a feel good story where everyone wins and I’m all about that right now.
👍🏻: The flower shop: It just adds an extra layer of sweet.
👍🏻: Xerxes-Maybe one of my favorite characters. Wished he had been featured more.
👍🏻: Devin and Perry: I wasn’t sure how she’d work it out between them but I liked how she wrapped it up
👎🏻: Because the story is so sweet you can expect a little cheese and some added drama at the end. Honestly, that is probably the only thing I didn’t like about the book. And even that isn’t a deal breaker.
Over all I thought this was a really cute book! It was easy to root for all the characters and I love stories like that.
Only two books in, but Angie Hockman is on my list of auto-buy authors. I enjoy her writing style, and her stories are unique. I needed a little bit more character development/details in this one, but overall I really enjoyed it. I found that I was reading large portions of the book at a time because I wanted to know how Cass knew her dream man pre-coma. I enjoyed that the book was set in Cleveland. I feel like most contemporary romances are set in the same handful of cities, so I especially appreciate when a less common city pops up—not sure I’ve read a book set in Cleveland… Also, odd detail to love but I seem to be a sucker for a character who is also a florist. Overall, I really enjoyed this book and I can’t wait to see where Hockman takes us next!
I’ve been struggling to get through anything but an audiobook, but I absolutely binged this and stayed up late to finish. I adored Cass’s story. From waking up convinced she’s in a relationship to finding out he’s not real and then meeting a real Devin. Although Cass and Perry don’t start off on the right foot, I loved how their relationship grew into a friendship and then when you could see how they were fighting their feelings for each other. I love a good slow burn! Perry was so sweet and I loved how passionate he was about his job and then reminded Cass what she was passionate about to. He’s definitely new book boyfriend material!
I’m so glad I have a copy preordered for my shelves! Angie Hockman continues to be an autobuy author for me and I can’t wait to see what she writes next!
The premise of this book is so interesting. Imagine waking up from a coma with memories of a fantastic boyfriend that everyone says isn’t real. A year later, you run into the man himself and the person you’d dreamed of could confirm the details that you had dreamt. That’s the situation Cass faces with Devon. When they meet in person she believes it’s fate and they start dating to see if they are meant to be together. However, the dream doesn’t seem to be the same as reality and she is faced with the choice of deciding between the future she’s been shown or the truth in her heart.
This was a great read. I liked Cass’s character and not only the tough decisions she had to make as far as her relationship with Devon but also the reality of what she thought was her dream job before the accident that put her in a coma. There were some great twists and this was an entertaining read with While You Were Sleeping vibes, which I loved.
This is so good! And such a fun plot. The author keeps you guessing and the whole time you just want more more more. There is a slight love triangle but no dreaded cheating trope.
Thank you to Netgalley and Gallery for the arc in exchange for an honesT review
Cw car accident that leaves me in a coma, long term effects of accident,
I’m a huge fan of Angie Harmons voice and style of writing unfortunately there were some personal things that just meant this book was a miss for me. As an attorney it’s difficult for me to read mcs with that profession though I understand not every attorney has my experiences. I also am just not a fan of love triangles. I would definitely read another book by her this one just for personal reasons wasn’t for me
Steam 1 until the very end then 3
I read Angie Hockman’s debut novel, Shipped, last year and I really enjoyed it! So, I knew when I saw this one coming out that I had to read it, too! And that gorgeous cover!!! It's so bright and colorful that it grabbed my attention, and I couldn’t wait to dive into it. I loved the storylines in this book, the flower shop theme was so fun, and I thoroughly enjoyed the main character being a strong female overcoming a lot, working hard to make her dreams come true! While this book is a romance, it does have a couple heavier topics and some family drama added in which help bring substance to the book. Overall, I really enjoyed this one and would highly recommend it to all my romance book lovers!
Thank you, Net Galley and Galley Books, for an ARC of this book in return for my honest review!
Oh my, this book was just so cute and heartwarming! I really liked the idea of the plot aka meeting the (literally) man of your dreams. The writing style was great and kept me hooked and the whole why of Cass and Devin's fated encounter added a tint of mystery that intrigued me 'til the end. At first I was a bit hesitant about how the story starts as it jumps around a bit and it seemed a little rushed, but once the meet cute happens, things really set off. The plot was light but romantic and heartfelt and it tied up so nicely! The subplot that happens later in the book gave me small town Gimore Girls vibes and I was so in for it! I love how Cass' situation makes us think about life and our dreams and how we should go for what makes us happy and take chances. It made her character much more relatable and real. I thought it was going to be a bit more steamy but it's on the reaaaally light side, still it's a super sweet and fun love story with a swoon worthy love interest that I recommend to any romance lover! Finished it with a huge smile on my face.
