Angie Hockman writes some amazing books, and always has the cutest covers! This story was so intriguing to me because the plot is so unique. After Cass gets in a car accident and find herself in a coma for a few days, she wakes up asking about a man who she thinks is her boyfriend. This mystery man, whom she has many vivid recollections of…. But, they’ve never actually met. Until a year later, when she sees him at a flower shop. I love the floral elements of this story, and how it wrapped up… but I wish the explanation of her dream and reality was different. A really cute story!

Dream On by Angie Hockman is a delightful romance with an interesting premise that I really enjoyed.

Cass Walker just finished law school and on the way home from her bar exam, she’s in a terrible car accident that puts her in a coma for six days. When she awakens from her coma, she looks around for her boyfriend, Devin. And she’s disappointed that he’s not there by her side. Later she realizes that she doesn’t have a boyfriend named Devin, and never had a boyfriend named Devin. And yet, her memories of him are very realistic. After talking with her friends and family, and researching her phone, she finally realized he was never real, and just a dream she had in her coma.

When she walks into a florist shop, she sees him and promptly faints. Devon helps out his brother Perry in his flower shop. When they do have a chance to talk, Devon confirms that he has never met her before. They start up a friendship, but can the man of her dreams really become the man of her dreams?

The premise of this story was excellent. I liked the way the author explained her dreams and how she imagined a boyfriend while in a coma. The beginning of the book was fast-paced, and I just couldn’t wait to find out if Cass would ever meet the literal man of her dreams. The book slowed down a bit in the middle with some miscommunications and a complex love triangle. But, the end picked right up again and I was anxious to see how the happy couple resolves their differences.

Cass’s growth throughout the book was lovely to see, and it wasn’t all about getting a man to make her happy. She learned a lot about herself and what she really wants in life.

I recommend Dream On to anyone who enjoys a good romance with a twist.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I absolutely loved Shipped, so I was so excited for Dream On by Angie Hockman but a few things missed the mark for me. It was cute, but had a few things I'm not the biggest fan of in romances.

On her drive home from the Bar Exam, Cass is in a horrible car accident where she was in a coma for six days. When she wakes up she's wondering where her boyfriend Devin is... but she never had a boyfriend Devin. She can picture him and knows the smallest details, but he isn't real until a year later she runs into him at a local flower shop.

I don't want to give too much away but my least favorite trope is slightly involved and after that I was kinda bored with the book. I also wasn't the biggest fan of Cass, I found her a bit immature and not quite the power attorney she was depicted as.

I enjoyed this book so much! What a perfectly sweet summer read. I couldn’t put it down!

Determined, considerate, and loveably awkward Cass suffers from traumatic brain injury after a car accident, only to find that the boyfriend she remembers isn’t real… except he is real, but they don’t actually know each other and he isn’t her boyfriend. What follows is a sweet story of love, friendship, and figuring out where your priorities really lay in the tumultuous time that is your twenties.

There are some parallels to In Five Years, This Time Next Year, Wish You Were Here, and The Two Lives of Lydia Bird, so if you enjoyed the vibe of any of those, I think you’ll love this story.

Big thank you to the publisher and Net Galley for an advance copy in exchange for my honest review!

This book was pretty average for me. I enjoyed that there was some twists and mystery regarding the situation with the main character. However, it felt a little underdeveloped in the non-romance area of the book.

One of the most unique books I have read this year! Cass is trying to get her life back in order after her car accident and subsequent coma. She seems to have everything under control, but she just cannot let thoughts of Devin go. Meeting him in real life is a huge shock, but she has to investigate the situation. She gets pulled into his family's drama while she is balancing drama at work. But nothing is quite what it appears to be, not even Cass's own dreams. I enjoyed all of the surprises in here.

This was a quick, easy read for me. I was immediately drawn in and read it over the course of two afternoons—I couldn’t wait to get back to it after the first day!! Sweet, story and excellent writing.

Dream On by Angie Hockman was a refreshing take on the rom-com book genre. I fell in love the cover of this book and was so thrilled that the story was just a great! The story had a lot of twists and turns so I’m going to keep this review more vague so I don’t spoil it for any readers.

What I loved about the book:
-Cassidy was a great female main character. It was nice to see her personal growth throughout the story.
- The twists and turns in this book were so great and not super predictable.
-I loved the character Perry and how authentic to himself he was.

What I did not love about the book:
- I understood why there wasn’t much spice and romance for most of the book because of how the story unravels but I would have liked a little more romance between the two characters.

Overall, I looked forward to picking up this book each night and will definitely look into more books from this author.

3.5/5

Dream On was a really fun romcom! I thought the premise was refreshing and I enjoyed the play on Devin being the 'man of her dreams'. Perry really stole the show for me though, and I loved all his interactions with Cass and all the little things he did to show he cared (the flowers, the easel and paint set? 🥺) The side-characters were fully fleshed out as well, especially Cass' best friend Brie, who is the friend every girl needs! I thought this was a great summer read and I'd recommend it if you're looking for a fun, fresh romcom :)

(-1.5* because I thought the whole plot between Sadie and Devin was completely unnecessary and ended up painting Devin in a reallllly bad light. This might be partly because of recent events though.)

Thank you to the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review!

Dream On is so freaking cute! It has 90s rom-com vibes (reminiscent in many ways of While you Were Sleeping, one of my favorites!), a strong female character who is still trying to find her place in this world, and a swoon-worthy hero. I adored the story and all of the twists and turns that came with it. Side characters were also solid. I definitely recommend you pick this one up - it’s perfect for a read on the beach, in the coffee shop, or in the comfort of your own home.

Oh My Goodness, this book! I read it in one day. I couldn't put it down!

When Cass wakes up in the hospital from a coma she is flooded with memories of her boyfriend, Devin, who doesn't actually exist! A year later after convincing herself this Devin doesn't exist and it was all in her head, he shows up in real life, except he doesn't know Cass exists. Is this fate? Destiny? Or just happenstance? Things start coming together for Cass, she working at her dream law firm, things with Devin are shaping up nicely, This has to be fate right? But just when things are going so well, Cass starts to realize, maybe everything she thought she wanted and worked so hard for, was what she was "supposed" to want, and not actually what she wanted.

I am failing for words to describe how much I loved this book. I was engrossed in the story. I'm not gonna lie, I don't normally go for love triangles involving brothers. It tends to feel a little icky for me, but it somehow worked for me. I also loved how this was a slow burn, but had a lot of substance. I felt like we got romance without it being drawn out for so long.

Thanks to the publisher for an ARC in return for an honest review! This book releases 7/5!

Special thank you to Gallery Books and NetGalley for allowing me to read and review this digital ARC of Dream On coming out in July!

RomComs are like a warm blanket for me so I was so excited to read this book! I read this book in a 24 hour period, and while not a literally masterpiece it was exactly what I needed in a summer read. It was my first Angie Hockman read and will go back and read others :)

The story is about Cass walker, our FMC who wakes up from a coma post car accident with memories of a boy on her mind, Deven. She is convinced she is dating him...but he actually is a fictional person....but fast forward a year later, Cass walks into a flower shop and is flabbergasted - she sees the real life Devin! and to her surprise he believes her story too! Cass and Devin start to hang out and to figure out where their paths had crossed. There is a bit of steam, a lot of cute moments and what seems like a perfect future...until the universe says differently!

A great summer read for sure!

Dream On was a sweet, funny, and surprisingly twisty read! Cass Walker wakes up from a coma after surviving a car accident with memories of her boyfriend, Devin. But, Devin does not exist, and there is no proof he has ever been in her life. Instead, her family and doctors confirm she has imagined him. As Cass recovers, she moves on with her life, preparing to start her dream job in a prestigious law firm. Then, one fateful day, Cass runs into Devin. He exists, and although he's never met her, the facts she thought she imagined about him are real. How? Is it fate? The two embark on a journey to find out.
I want to say more but can't without risking spoilers! This rom-com is unique, and the fast-reading story takes some twists and turns. I really liked Cass's character and rooted for her, and I appreciated the depiction of a solid supportive female friendship between Cass and her BFF, Brie. Angie Hockman has written a sweet book full of hope that surprised me more than once. Thank you to NetGalley and Gallery Books for the opportunity to review this ARC. I enjoyed it!

Obsessed with this romcom. The premise is want allured me but the story just keeps on giving. MC Cass is very likeable, strong and adorable. Both men are swoon worthy and the author wrote dialogue that just keeps your heart thumping away.

This was such a sweet, fun romance! Cass has a vivid dream of being in love while in a coma. When she awakes, she realizes that the man of ehr dream is not part of her life and maybe isn't real at all. Then she runs into him accidentally. Devin and Cass explore if they really have a connection and how their lives intersected at all.

I saw where the storyline was going right from the start but still enjoyed every page. Cass was a great main character and I loved Perry, Devin's brother. This was just a perfect summer read, entertaining but also heartwarming!

Thanks to Angie Hockman, Gallery Books, and NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I loved Angie Hockman’s first book, Shipped, so I was really excited to read this one. Overall, I thought Dream On a cute read! If you like books by Kate Clayborn and Rebecca Serle, you’ll love this book. It focuses on fate and soulmates and has just a touch of “magic.”

Synopsis:

Cassidy Walker wakes up from a 6-day coma after surviving a car accident with vivid and romantic memories of her boyfriend, Devin. But according to her family, friends, and doctors, she’s not dating anyone and doesn’t know anyone named Devin. One year later, after struggling to come to terms with her new reality, she’s finally ready to resume her life after law school and starts her job as a summer associate at a BigLaw firm. To celebrate, she treats herself to flowers and ends up meeting the real Devin at a flower shop owned by his brother, Perry. After meeting and hitting it off with Devin, she thinks fate brought him to her — but this very-real-Devin isn't exactly how Cass remembers from her dreams.

My thoughts:

Cassidy was a great female main character and while the book is a romance, it mostly focuses on her self-discovery journey. While I would have loved to hear the POV of either Devon or Perry, I agree with others that Cass’s perspective was necessary for the story, especially since it centered on so much of her growth.

I love that Cass ended up getting the job offer she worked so hard for only to realize that it wasn’t actually what she wanted. We all contain multitudes and I was really happy to see that she was able to use her ability as a lawyer to make a difference while also making time for her art.

The flower shop was probably my favorite part. I love the story of how it came to be, the environment, Perry’s passion for the shop and desire to make people happy with moments. *chef's kiss*

I enjoyed the twists and turns in this book. They weren’t super predictable, they also were believable and helped move the story along.

This is mostly closed-door, except for the epilogue. While it makes sense for the story, the tension between Cass and Perry was too good — I would’ve loved to have more of their romance on the page.

Thank you to Netgalley, Gallery Books/Simon & Schuster, and Angie Hockman for an ARC in exchange for my honest review. Dream On comes out on July 5!

So this is the second book I've read recently that has a lot to do with fate and destiny and "soulmates." These kind of books can be so much fun and I really like the unpredictability of it. It isn't the same cookie cutter plots with guy meets girl and so on.

This book had a ton going on. From Cass's accident to her summer associate job as an attorney to planning a flower festival. But I honestly wasn't confused at all. I thought they did a great way of keeping the plot full of surprises, but not too crazy.

I thought it was very cool presenting someone who is recovering from a brain injury so sincerely. She struggled with her memory and needed some extra help, but that's okay. I loved seeing Cass find herself again after the accident.

I would have loved to hear the POV of either Devon or Perry. But I thought the single narration was refreshing in this book. Since it is about Cass and her growth it seemed fitting.

I think the ending was super sweet and not expected. This is definitely a fun rom com read that will give you While You Were Sleeping and Dear Emma Blue vibes.

This started with a heartbreaking event, but grew into such a sweet, adorable, and fun story.

Cass had been in a horrific car accident that left her in a coma. After awakening, she was eager to see her boyfriend. The only problem was she didn’t have a boyfriend. Fast forward, and Cass happened upon her dream-guy. Out of her dreams and into her real life. It must be fate, right?

Super cute premise with lots of rom-com moments. I was often grinning like a fool as I read this book. For someone with so little romance in my life, I am a hopeless romantic and meeting the literal man of your dreams was something that tickled me pink.

What I enjoyed more though was taking this personal journey with Cass. She had to overcome a LOT to get back to where she was before the accident and get her law career back on track. But, her near-death accident and meeting Perry (the brother of her dream-guy), had her rethinking her goals. I LOVED this side plot about finding your joy. I think the older I get, the more important this becomes to me, and therefore, it’s wonderful to read about.

Hockman did an incredible job creating a cast of likable (and lovable) characters who I fully embraced. They weren’t perfect, but they were perfectly imperfect, and I enjoyed rooting for them. She also provided a rather believable explanation for Cass’ dream-guy memories which I didn’t expect. A great ending capped off this book which was a delight from beginning to end.

Lacked depth. And I couldn’t get into the plot line. Both romances felt predictable. And the end fell flat.
