After reading two books by Angie Hockman, I can definitely say that she is now an auto-read author for me! Dream On was a great second novel by Hockman, and I loved the uniqueness of the plot with Cass dreaming of Devin while she was in a coma despite the fact that she hadn't met him yet, and then actually meeting him months later.
When Cass and Devin actually meet and try to figure out their connection, I wasn't sure which way the story was going to go at first, because I really thought Devin was going to tell her she was crazy and leave her to figure everything out on her own. As they start to explore a relationship, I liked watching Cass evolve into realizing what she truly wanted out of life, not just what she pictured in her dream. Once Cass started spending time with Devin's brother Perry, I had a feeling I knew what was going to happen, but I didn't care, because I loved watching the two of them interact so much. The scenes they had together were so cute, and I couldn't put the book down in the end because I just needed to know that what I thought would happen would.
Love triangles are not my favorite trope, especially between brothers, but it worked so well in this book. Devin and Perry were polar opposites, and because of that, it helped Cass in discovering who she was and not doing what everyone expected her to do.
In a fun follow-up to Hockman's debut Shipped, we see recent law school graduate Cass Walker end up in a coma after taking the bar exam. When she wakes up, all she can think about is her amazing boyfriend, Devin--until she finds out he's not real, and she's single. Except year later, after Cass' recover and as she's poised to start her new job at a BigLaw firm, she meets him. Devin. In real life. And she seems to know everything about him. Devin's older brother, Perry, clocks Cass as a stalker, but Cass and Devin begin a whirlwind relationship premised on fate.
I love the truly unique premise for this book, and think it's a creative stroke of genius. This may also be one of the only books where I actually enjoyed the love triangle element. I didn't feel too bad for either guy and was happy with the outcome. Ultimately, it was a fun read that had me rooting for the underdog!
As usual, Hockman showcases some interesting careers, such as Perry's flower shop--LOVE, and Cass' life in BigLaw. Unfortunately, as a BigLaw attorney myself, I found Cass' story hard to grasp. While I can't say it's inaccurate, it's definitely inaccurate to my own and my friends' experiences. I think it's always hard to read about things you have personal knowledge of--like why my career Army father can't stand to watch military television shows. It's impossible not to point out inconsistencies in your head.
Thanks to author Angie Hockman for my ARC and Gallery Books for my eARC! All thoughts and opinions are my own.
5 stars - 8/10
So I LOVED Shipped and all the magic of Hockman’s writing does carry over into this book. The plot was intriguing (although slow at times) and I found the idea of dreaming of someone before you even meet really fascinating. Well done!!! Thank you NetGalley for a digital ARC!
Devin Bloom? That's the man Cass believed she was involved with but she wasn't. No one- not her doctors, not her friends, could explain why she spent her time in a coma with a man (in her dreams) who didn't exist. And then a year later, she's moved, is a year into her job with a law firm and pow- she sees him. He's the brother of the florist where she's gone to buy some blooms. Perry, who owns the shop, well, it will be apparent early on that there's going to a be a sort of love triangle here but who will Cass choose? I liked this for the twist (no spoilers) as well as the characters. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. A light fun read.
A SUPER FUN love triangle romance that started out a little slow, but it’s unique premise is what kept me flipping pages. Delightful from start to finish!! ❥
Read as an ARC thanks to the publisher and NetGalley. All opinions are my own. Publish date July 5, 2022.
Thank you to @gallerybooks @netgalley for a copy of Dream On. I loved Shipped and was excited to read Dream On. The premise was interesting with literally meeting the man of your dreams.
I love seeing Cass's journey into herself after her accident. There was a lot of fun elements to the book that I enjoyed. I am not a big fan of love triangle and thought this was done well.
3.5 stars, rounded up. I absolutely adore this cover. It's part of what drew me in and convinced me to pick up this book. Hockman's writing is fantastic. The story flows seamlessly, her characters are rich and vibrant, and I was cheering for our HEA right from the start. Until I wasn't. And then I found out this book is one tricky trope that isn't always done well. Parts of it got a little weird for my taste. I also thought this one was going to be squeaky clean with very little innuendo or suggestive comments throughout, so I was quite surprised when in the epilogue, the bedroom door is busted off its hinges. BUT that said, she totally crushed the ending. While bits and pieces of this story may not have been my favorite, I will still definitely be picking up another book by this author.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for my e-arc of this book. All opinions here are my own.
I read the author’s debut novel, Shipped last year and loved it. I loved loved loved this one even more!! It’s a five star read for me, two thumbs up. Highly recommend!
There’s so much I can't say without taking away from the reading experience. I loved the plot which was more complex and genuine than a typical, formulaic rom com. The humor was spot on perfect. Just enough chemistry. Again, the author addresses social issues within a great storyline. The characters are developed and portrayed perfectly. I can’t wait for this author’s next one, she’s one of my go to authors now! I’d love to see this one as a film!
Thank you to Gallery Books for my copy of Dream On in exchange for my honest opinion,
Cass wakes from a coma with very vivid memories of Devin, the man she believes has been her boyfriend for months. But Devin isn't real. And as she recovers from the car accident and tries to put her life back together, she struggles to get over that she imagined it all. Fast forward a year later... she has moved in to an apartment with her best friend and started the summer program at the law firm she wants to work at. When she stops into a random florist shop and meets Perry, the cute shop owner, and there's totally a spark there. Until Perry's brother walks in. and it's HER Devin.
I am not a fan of a love triangle... but this was written so well that it didn't care! I liked how open Devin was to the Cass knowing so much about him and this crazy thing between them and that he wanted to help figure out how she could have known so much about him. Perry is so protective of his brother and instantly distrusts Cass and the situation. I loved how it was written to turn that relationship around and reestablish that connection between Perry and Cass. I honestly loved both Devin and Perry, but Perry was my favorite from the beginning! I loved how the story got more complicated and the way it all unfolded.
The pacing of the story was great, I was never bored with it and breezed right though it because I was excited to see how it would all shake out! I'll definitely be recommending this one to all my friends and can't wait to see what else Angie Hockman comes out with in the future.
3.5/5 stars. The cover of this book initially is what drew me in. And then I noticed it was written by the same author as 'Shipped' which I enjoyed so it definitely peaked my interest. I will say, the idea of the book was unique and fun and overall I found the plot to be cute and the characters fun. However, I also found the plot to be slightly predictable at times and I did not really like the tropes.
Overall this book would still make a good summer read if you are looking for something quick for a trip.

Dream On is a light, sweet romance with a touch of magic. When law school grad Cass wakes up from a coma after a car accident, she has memories of a man named Devin. However, she soon realizes that, according to her family and friends, he does not exist. A year later, she can not get over her dream man..until she runs into him and his brother at their florist shop. Her and Devin embark on a real-life romance and believe fate brought them together…but fate may have other plans.
This was such an enjoyable read that I easily finished in one sitting. It was a fun storyline with lovable characters and a cozy setting. Fans of Kate Clayborn and Lia Louis will love this story. Just a refreshing and happy romcom that will put a smile on your face.

I want to preface with I ADORED Shipped so I was so excited that Angie was coming out with a new one with the most BEAUTIFUL cover!
I requested this blindly but I feel like I was a little let down. I haven’t even finished it but I feel like some of the dialogue is coming off really immature and I don’t think I am feeling the premise either.
So it’s a DNF but truly could be a case of wrong book/wrong time maybe?
This book is such a sweet, fast paced romcom read that is perfect for summer. I binge read this in a couple hours, because I was extremely intruiged ! It has a very unique premise that hooked me and kept me invested from the very beginning. It gave me “While You Were Sleeping” movie vibes (Which I loved). This is a love triangle romance BUT it is very well done and it’s what kept me hooked. Also, I absolutely ADORED the epilogue.
Cass is a lawyer that had a terrible accident and was in a coma for almost a week. When she wakes up, she has many very vivid memories of her supposed boyfriend, Devin & their life together. The only problem is, she’s very much single, & Devin only exists in her imagination, or so she thinks. Almost a year later she goes back to her hometown where she sees the man of her dreams (literally). All of the feelings, emotions from the dream memories she has of Devin, flood through her when she’s face to face with him. Devin believes her and they try to pursue a relationship based on what she thinks is fate. But she soon realizes what she feels for Devin and the chemistry & connection they have isn’t as soul-deep as it is with Devins brother, Perry.
You can expect:
* Love Triangle
* 2000’s Romcom Movie Vibes
* Very Low Spice (1 scene not explicit)
* The Cutest Flower Shop
* Self Discovery + Journey
* Based in Cleveland, Ohio
Angie Hockman is officially an auto buy author for me! This book is a love story that proves "actions are the seed of fate"!
This book follows Cass as she heals from a terrible car accident. She waked up from a 6 day coma and is confused to find out her boyfriend of three months didn't visit her in the hospital... because he doesn't exist. She finds it hard to believe she knows so much about this imaginary man Devin like breaking his finger when he was 8 and is able to imagine his face and laugh so vividly. her friends, family and doctors advise her to move on. She is starting a new job and is trying to move on with her life after healing when she actually meets her imaginary boyfriend, Devin at a flower shop. Yes the real one. Devin is willing to give her a chance and it seems like her life is falling into place. She soon find out that fate has a mind of its own.
This book was a delight! It was full of twist and turns and every character in this was so lovable! Best parts of this book: flower shop, cute dog, cute parrot, amazing best friend, strong heroine, and so much more. Highly recommend this read!
A huge thank you to Netgalley and Publishers for an eARC of this book in exchange for my honest thoughts!
After greatly enjoying Shipped, I was excited to learn that Angie Hockman had a new novel coming soon, Dream On. This novel did not disappoint as it was enjoyable from start to finish. While the stories may be different between the two novels, there is the essence of the author’s style that nicely ties the two books together. The concept of this story sounded very intriguing as the main character wakes up from a coma believing she has been dating a certain man and when the two meet, the two start to spend time together. I was skeptical, at first, about how the man would willingly go along with this premise, and I am pleased to say that I enjoyed how it turned out.
Cass Walker wakes up after being in an almost week-long coma with memories of a man named Devin complete with him giving her flowers and sharing dances. Unfortunately, Devin is not real, or at least it seems to others. Cass is certain that everything is real. About a year passes and Cass is still working on putting her life back together after the accident when she enters a flower shop, Blooms and Bubbles and encounters Devin Szymanski. Cass ends up explaining her memories and Devin and his older brother Perry decide to humor Cass to see if these memories were real.
As she just accepted a summer job at a law firm, Cass is excited to return to her career since the accident derailed it a year prior. She deals with a lot of stress from this as she wants to do well and eventually make it a lasting career, but it is easier said than done. There is a lot of inner turmoil that Cass goes through during the story as she questions her memory, her career, her potential romance, and herself. The romance moves at a very slow pace, so if you are not a fan of slow burns, then this may not be the book for you.
Overall, the concept of this story is what brought me in along with the adorable cover. I enjoyed Angie’s writing as there was some nice complexity to the plot compared to it all seeming forced. There is a slight love triangle that forms, which was not quite for me, but it did end up making sense in the end. Some side stories (unfortunately I do not want to spoil anything) were unnecessary as they did not get the time they deserved, but the main story was still enjoyable. I loved how the bizarre idea of imagining a boyfriend played out during Cass’s journey and how it all worked out in the end. This novel makes me continue to enjoy the author’s work and I cannot wait to read more in the future.
**I want to give a special thank you to Netgalley and the publisher, Gallery Books, for a review copy of this entertaining novel. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.**
The plot was just different enough from the usual romance narrative and grabbed me from the start. Cass wakes up from a 6 day Coma to find that the boyfriend she dreamed of so sweetly was someone she had really never met. She can't let go of the dream, though, when, a year after the accident, she’s working on getting her life back in order when she bumps into the man of her literal dreams who believes her outlandish story. But all is not what it seems in this scenario because Devin's black sheep of a brother is also there in the shop, and all may not be the HEA the reader has in mind. Gives off vibes of "While You Were Sleeping". The characters were engaging and likable. The story kept me well entertained. I loved the chemistry between the characters.

I really enjoyed this quick read! Our main girl, Cass, gets into an accident and is in a coma for 6 days. She wakes up asking for Devin, who she thinks is her boyfriend. Turns out, none of her friends or family know who Devin is. She is convinced that she has been dating a man named Devin and she can even recall specific details about him. One day, she is at a flower shop where she actually sees Devin and believes it's fate that brought them together.
-Single pov
-Love Triangle between Cass, Devin, and Devin's brother, Perry
-Fast paced
-Interesting premise and executed well
-Fun side characters
I thought this was such a cute read!
✨ARC Review✨
“I dreamed of Devin. But Devin is real. What does it mean?”
Cass is in a car accident and was in a coma for a few days. During her coma, she dreams up Mr. Perfect…this boyfriend named Devin, but he is all an illusion. She has every immaculate detail of him memorized. Cass is convinced that Devin, her boyfriend of the last three months, exists. However, no evidence proves such. He has to be real, right? Just as she is starting to piece her life back together and start a new job at a law firm, she runs into the real Devin a short time later, and he thinks her story is anything but crazy. They embark on a romance but her life has other things in store for her…
I didn’t love this book, but I did like it. It felt more like a story about a conflicted woman over her career more than anything. Secondary to that was a love triangle, but I just wasn’t feeling much romance on the pages, once it was finished.
What’s On The Pages:
-a coma dreaming up Mr. Right
-memories / flashbacks
-the smell of lilies
-a flirty florist
-a sketchbook
-pinball arcade
-love triangle

A special thank you to NetGalley and Gallery Books for this eARC! Dream On is out July 5th!
I loved Shipped and was excited to pick this one up. Overall the story was just ok for me but that's because the love triangle trope especially between brothers is not for me. This was mostly a case of just not my type of book. I did like the concept of the coma and the mysterious memories. I liked Cass's recovery story and how she worked to get back on her own two feet and pursue her dreams despite the coma putting her life on pause.
So it is very rare for me to find a Rom-Com with an original plot and this one did it for me!
Meet Cass Walker,whose car crash resulted in her being in a coma and waking up begging for her boyfriend. which seems totally normal right... Except no one knows who he is or has any memory of her ever being with him. After being told by everyone that Devin is just part of imagination she tries to give up on him and get back into her once promising career as a Paralegal.
One year after her accident she goes into a flower shop and is flirting with the owner when his brother walks in and turns out to be Devin. Devin has no memory of her either but decides to give her a chance. Things seem to be going well but life keeps throwing twist after twist in their way. Now Cass must decide if this truly is the life she wants or if it is better left to her dreams.
I LOVED THIS BOOK!
I liked the plot twists that this story played out and the characters. Angie Hockman should be on everyone's list of favorite Rom-Com writers!!! I can't wait for her next book!
