Thank you NetGalley and Gallery Books for the ARC!
This one was fun. It’s one thing when you have a fake boyfriend, it’s a whole other when you’ve never met him and he’s a figment of your imagination. Or so Cass Walker thought…
Cass wakes up from a week long coma with vivid memories of her boyfriend Devin and their relationship of three months, only to find out that he doesn’t exist and isn’t part of her life.
Flash forward almost a year and there he is, in a flower shop near her office.
This one has lots of twists and turns and I don’t want to spoiler anyone, but I quite enjoyed reading it.
I truly enjoyed Shipped so I was excited to read this one, but it really didn't work for me. The premise intrigued me and loved the idea of dreaming of someone before you even meet. However, the story really dragged for me. The writing style just wasn't working for me, but I'm sure it will be a well-loved book for others.
Ok, I enjoyed this one. But I also didn’t completely get into it until about 30% into the story.
I enjoyed the concept - Cass wakes up after a coma believing she had a relationship with a man named Devin. But it never happened her brain made it up. Then one day she runs into Devin. They decide to meet and talk and the story progresses from there.
I think a big part of what didn’t work for me was that so much of the story centered around Cass and Devin, but Devin was kind of a jerk. There were so many moments where I just didn’t like him as a kinda boyfriend. I wanted more from Cass’s relationship with Perry.
I enjoyed seeing Cass struggle to find the work/life balance that she wanted and determine the path that would make her happiest. And I enjoyed Cass’s relationship with Brie. I loved how they supported each other in both love and other life situations.
Overall, this was enjoyable but it just might not stand out for me. (3.25ish)
I loved this! What a unique premise and the interesting revelations continued throughout the book! I kept thinking we were in a dream-within-a-dream situation because the circumstances were so unusual!
I really enjoyed Cass. She was not perfect, but I really enjoyed her journey and Angie Hockman writes Cass’s whole thought processes so you really understand her. Thoughtful decision making is not always a strong suit of someone with a traumatic brain injury!
The idea that she dreamed up a dream man and then actually meets him is a fantastical story and one I thoroughly enjoyed reading. And I loved that everything was not as it seemed in the story. There were lots of interesting (and sad) twists and turns in the story. The pacing was excellent!
But no matter whom you were rooting for, Cass was a smart, strong woman worthy of epic love. And I am so glad she found it!
I really enjoyed Shipped, but enjoyed this one even more!
I requested an advance reader copy from Gallery Books via NetGalley and these are my honest opinions.
Case has her life all together… until she gets into a car accident and is in a coma for 6 days. When she wakes up, she looks for her boyfriend, Devin. Her family members are confused…. they’ve never heard of Devin. Cass and her doctors are convinced her brain created Devin, until she meets the real Devin. Cass and Devin start to date, but sparks aren’t flying for her. She’s stressed as a new lawyer and with everything going on in her life. She also can’t help but notice Devin’s brother, Perry. Overall, I really enjoyed this book. it was a totally new and fun concept.
Angie Hickman has done it again. She what’s written a book that I couldn’t put down and May I say that I liked even more than Shipped, which I absolutely loved.
Thank you to Angie Hockman, the publisher and NetGalley for an ARC of Dream On in exchange for an honest review! I really enjoyed Hockman’s debut novel so was very excited to receive her latest release! I’ll admit that the description left me a little bit hesitant - I’m not one for insta love or the sometimes trite “amnesia” story line but I am pleased to say that Hockman navigated it well! As with many Romance novels you may need to suspend your belief of reality for a little while, but isn’t that half the fun? Dream On balances the choice between finding the man of your dreams or listening to your heart. Definitely check this out when it releases July 5!
I found the premise of this so fascinating. Cassidy wakes up from a coma with memories of a boyfriend who she never actually knew. And then a year later, she meets the actual man.
It takes a bit of suspension of disbelief, but I was enthralled with how Angie Hockman drew me in and made me fully believe the premise and the various character reactions. The book did not go at all in the direction I expected. And I liked it all the more for the surprises. I prefer not to know too much going on to a book, and I really appreciated the amount shared in the synopsis. Similarly, I want to keep my review fully spoiler free.
Cassidy was a great character, and I really enjoyed her first person perspective. And the secondary characters were all so well written as well. The book ends up being a bit of a mystery, not just a romance. And I really enjoyed that aspect. I highly recommend this book. For me, it has confirmed Angie Hockman s an auto-buy author.
Thank you to Gallery Books and NetGalley for the advanced reader copy. These opinions are my own.

Cass, a newly minted lawyer, was in an accident and woke up six days later remembering a boyfriend, Devin, who doesn’t exist. Except, when she moves to a new town with her best friend, to start working at a prestigious law office, she meets him in his brothers flower shop. He has no memory of her, and his brother, Perry thinks she is a stalker, but as she and Devin explore their chemistry and start dating, she can’t quite stop thinking about Perry.
I thoroughly enjoyed this, despite the love triangle aspect, which I normally dislike in romance. It has great characters, clearly draw and sympathetic. It explores the idea of fate, how people do and don’t fit together, what happens when our dreams come true and maybe they aren’t what we actually want, risking everything to live the life we really want, and what makes a life meaningful.
If you want flower shop vibes, a confusing Fourth of July party, late night painting, a grumpy old dog, a community festival, and a main character struggling to decide what she actually wants at work and in her love life, when she finally gets everything she ever dreamed of, this is your book.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC, it didn’t affect my review.
I am kind of at a loss for words... I LOVED Shipped, like obsessively loved Shipped, so I jumped for joy when I got approved to read another Angie Hockman book early... This was not for me, at all. I really wanted to like Dream On, the bizarre plot reminded me of a Hallmark movie but not a good one, and the freaking LOVE TRIANGLE THAT CAME OUT OF NOWHERE just really peeved me.
Really thankful for opportunity to read, but this just wasn't for me at all.
The premise of this book is clever, the main character basically goes through a Hallmark-style transformation of realizing she needs more art in her life, but SOMEONE SHOULD HAVE TOLD ME THERE IS A MAJOR LOVE TRIANGLE. It's not my favorite. So in terms of craft, this book is fine, But I am not a fan of that plot device.

Angie Hockman's takes the phrase "dream man" to a whole new level in this story of a lawyer who creates an entire boyfriend in her mind while in a six day coma, only to meet him in real life a year later. Oddly enough, this is not the first time I have experienced this story in some form of media - the Hallmark channel ran a similar movie just last year - so I was definitely intrigued to see what Hockman would do with this idea.
This romance definitely gives off a bit of a Hallmark vibe as it opts for a sweet and emotional story about a woman discovering the changes that she needs to make in her personal and professional life rather than the steamy, fun times that I personally enjoy. The actual romance itself, to me, felt a bit underdeveloped as we spend more time with the man our leading lady doesn't end up with than her actual hero. I wish that there had been a little bit more time given to that aspect of the story, but I did have a good time overall and I'll definitely pick up whatever Hockman writes next.
Thank you to NetGalley and Gallery Books for an ARC of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review!
Shipped by Angie Hockman was one of my favorite reads in 2021, and the premise sounded interesting, so I jumped at the chance to read her second novel.
First and foremost, I’m not a huge fan of love triangles, but I thought it was done well in this book. No one was a jerk to anyone, there’s no cheating, and it never really felt like she had to make a huge choice between the two. The love story for one developed as the other was fading. I was really curious on how Cass and Devin were going to get together and then when they got together quickly, I had a feeling there’d be more to the relationship between Cass and Perry. You’re going to like both guys, but there’s a clear choice for Cass.
The mystery behind her remembering a boyfriend she doesn’t actually know was solved in a way that was plausible enough that I’m content with. I could actually see this as a Hallmark movie. I did want to see a little more to some aspects of the story, but overall really enjoyed it.
I also loved the supporting characters, Brie and Marcus, and the budding romance between them.
Thank you Gallery Books and NetGalley. I voluntarily reviewed an early copy of this book.

I really wasn't sure I would like this book, but I LOVED it! Dream On is like "While You Were Sleeping" flipped on its axis. After waking up from a coma, Cass discovers that the boyfriend she was dreaming of doesn't actually exist. Until, one day after coming to terms with the fact that her dream man, Devin, and all of her memories of him were a figment of her imagination, Cass meets Devin (who is very real) in his brother's flower shop. From there, the two spend time trying to find answers as to how Cass knew so many details about Devin's life.
Despite including tropes I don't usually like such as the love triangle, I really enjoyed reading Dream On. The love triangle between Cass, Devin, and Perry was so masterfully written that I spent the majority of the book unsure who is was rooting for. Featuring several unexpected twists, this book had me hooked. I could not wait to read what happened next.
If you are looking for a unique contemporary romance, I definitely recommend Dream On.
Dream On was an unexpected read for me because, well, the unexpected happens. I didn't think I'd enjoy it at first, yet I actually loved it.
Cass Walker awoke from her coma with flashbacks of her boyfriend Devin after being in a car accident. She does not, however, have a boyfriend. As a result of her injuries, her doctor and everyone else assumes she made it all up.
However, a year later, when she relocates to Cleveland, she meets the real Devin while chatting with the owner of a flower shop she decided to visit. Seeing him caused her pass out on the floor, making the shop owner, Devin's older brother Perry, uncomfortable. Devin and Cass eventually end up meeting and began to date because fate managed to bring them together, right?
I'm not a fan of love triangles, so I expected to dislike this, but I didn't. It's not the typical love triangle you see in books and despise, so that makes me happy. Fate may not always be on our side. Or perhaps fate led you to the incorrect person in order for you to find the right one.
I enjoyed Shipped by Angie Hockman, so I was excited to receive an advanced copy of Dream On from the publisher. Unfortunately, this book had such a bizarre plot, I found myself quickly uninterested in finishing it. My favorite part of romance books is the realism of the plot, but this one severely missed the mark. The FMC woke up from a coma remembering everything about a man she has never met? And to make matters worse, when she meets them she ignores several large red flags in favor of going out with him. I do not even know who the primary love interest is, but by the time I hit 50% I found myself not caring which meant it was time to DNF, sadly. I look forward to Hockman's books in the future, but this one is a pass from me.
Side note: I did read the description before requesting, but I found the plot still took quite a turn from what I was expecting, and not in a good way.
I’m so disappointed that this book just wasn’t for me. Shipped is one of my favourite contemporary romance books I’ve ever read, with characters I adored, but I just couldn’t get into this story. I kept picking it up and putting it down.
I do not like when books have a change of the love interest. Since this trope wasn’t even hinted at in the description of the book, I think that’s what disappointed me the most. Because had I known that in advance, as much as I liked Angie Hockman’s writing in Shipped, I wouldn’t have picked this up because I would have known before even starting it that it wouldn’t be a good fit for me.
Thank you to Gallery Books & NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advanced copy of this book!

Synopsis: When law student Cass Walker wakes up after surviving a car accident, she is flooded with memories of her boyfriend, Devin. The only problem? Devin doesn’t exist. She knows he’s a figment of her imagination—but she still can’t seem to get him out of her head. So when she runs into the real Devin a year later in a Cleveland flower shop, she’s completely shocked. Even more surprising is that Devin actually believes her story, and soon they embark on a real-life romance.
My Thoughts: I have not read Angie Hockman’s first novel Shipped, but I do have in my Amazon Wishlist, and will be moving it to the top of the list after reading this book. The characters were developed well, they had depth, they were cute, the banter between them was spot on, they definitely had chemistry, were emotional at the same time, and they were also likable and relatable. The author’s writing style was just amazing, it was complex, creative, and intriguing. The author’s description of the flower shop was so descriptive, I could see it in my head and felt like I was riding along with Cassie on her journey of self-discovery, relationships, love, and finding her niche in her professional world. The love triangle just with this book and with the plot, normally I do not care for them but Hockman just does a fantastic job at delivering it in a tasteful manner. The book kept me engaged from cover to the end. I loved this book and would purchase when the physical book is released in July.
Absolutely loved this book. Angie Hockman's style of writing is fantastic. I would recommend this book to a lot of people.
Thank you for the advanced copy of this book!

This was such a cute story. We've all dreamed up our perfect partner at some point, but have we ever lived it through a coma? Most likely not! This book was fun and kind of unique, and I loved that. I thought the characters were realistic and relatable in this one, and you don't always find that in romance books. I really like how Angie Hockman creates her characters! I felt really invested in the outcome from the first chapter.
Every character in this one is important, and I appreciated all the layers to both the characters and their relationships. This book had some twists that I didn't see coming (and some I did), and I appreciated that Angie Hockman kept me guessing throughout the story.
If you're looking for something fun to read this summer, pick up Dream On!
