I received an advanced copy of this book through NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review. I previously purchased and read Hockman's debut, which I really enjoyed. A testament to the author in that her second book's plot is very different than her first. In Dream On, Cassidy Walker wakes up from a coma thinking she has a boyfriend named Devin Bloom, based on her vivid dreams. But it turns out she can't find him, and her family and best friend Brie doubts he exists, she dreamed of him in her coma.

Cass is starting at a law firm in Cleveland, Ohio as a summer associate when she wanders into a florist business called Bloom and Baubles. She meets Perry, and then finds out his brother is Devin Syzmanski, the man Cass was dreaming of in her coma. After some initial skepticism, Cass and Devin meet to get to know each other and start dating. Except the reality is, they aren't really that compatible. It could have been really cringey when I realized where the author was going with the story, but it was handled rather well. Throughout the story, Cass is finding out things about herself, like her interest in art, and her goals to be a lawyer need to be re evaluated. The Mercedes character is initially introduced as a possible villain, although it was more complicated than things seemed. I guessed the connection quite easily but it didn't end predictably. If you enjoy slow burn love stories you will enjoy this book.

the basis of this novel was extra unique and i was not expecting it to be filled with so many surprises! it was interesting how romance was tied with cass’s puzzle of piecing her life back together. the action started right from the prologue and kept me on my toes. i thought the characters were well developed and i was a big fan of cass! i admired how she made sure to juggle her career with her hobbies/pastimes.

however, i favored the first half of the book over the second. i thought the dynamics between cass and devin felt a bit repetitive in the middle chunk of the plot then all of a sudden it was hit with a big burst of action. everything happened at once and was resolved so quickly that i wished there’d been more time to explore the resolution. but if you’re looking for a lighthearted and fun read, i’d recommend “dream on” because it’s there’s lots of twists and turns in store!

Thank you for the opportunity to read and review! This book caught my attention quickly and I enjoyed the plot@

"What would you do if your dream man turned out to be real?

When law grad Cass Walker wakes up after surviving a car accident, she is flooded with memories of a man named Devin. The only problem? Devin—as confirmed by family, friends, and doctors—doesn’t exist. Everything about him, from his coffee-brown eyes to the slightly crooked angle of his pinkie to his high-wattage charm, is a figment of Cass’s coma-addled imagination. Still, she can’t get him out of her head.

So when she happens upon the real Devin a year later in a Cleveland flower shop, she’s completely shocked. Even more surprising is that Devin actually believes her story, and despite his protective younger brother’s doubts, they soon embark on a real-life romance. With her dream man by her side and a new job at a prestigious law firm, Cass’s future seems perfect. But fate might have other plans...

From the beloved author of Shipped comes a magical and witty romantic comedy that explores what happens when our dreams come true—even when they’re not the ones we expect."

I really liked her debut, Shipped, but thought this was just ok. There were several things that just didn't work for me. The pacing was slow and not a lot happened. I don't love love triangles in general, but especially not with brothers. It felt pretty icky and weird honestly. The book felt like it dragged on and fell flat. The relationships felt underdeveloped and rushed, lacking chemistry.

“The memory after finally finding someone after being alone for so long is like a drug: powerful and calming.”✨

*Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review!

Y’all… this book was CUTE 🥰

I loved Angie Hockman’s debut novel, Shipped, so when I heard she had a second book coming this year I knew I NEEDED to read it! & boy it didn’t disappoint!

I was hooked immediately and engaged in the story - I felt like I really knew these characters and connected with them so well! This was such a fun rom-com and even though I’m normally not the biggest fan of love triangles, I do think it was executed extremely well in this book!

Tropes to keep an eye out for in this book:
- enemies to lovers 🥵
- love triangle 💕
- witty banter 🗣

Dream On is an fun read with an interesting and unique premise. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys a quick rom-com. I like that it wasn't predictible and it isn't the type of story that I've read before! Although, I do have to say that it bothered me at first when Devin just jumped on board with Cass, despite his brother's protests (which irritated me later on). I'm giving it four stars because there were a few areas that dragged a bit and I didn't enjoy the second half of the book as much as the first half.

What was interesting to me about this book was that the main character, Cass, had such vivid memories of having a boyfriend, Devin, when she wakes up from a coma that she can sketch him out and describe him with such precise detail but nobody can figure out how she knows him, including Cass and Devin. It was such a compelling premise. Human minds and what they are capable of are so fascinating and I enjoyed taking a journey with Cass as she worked to put the puzzle pieces of her life back together.

This book has a very unique premise, and I would definitely suggest going into it blind or mostly blind.

The mystery aspect of this book really kept me glued to the pages. Overall this was a great read, with great characters, that were well written to the point I either loved them or hated them, or even changed my mind about them.

I really enjoyed the plot devises and especially the aspect of how fate works.

OHEMGEE! This book was an absolute TREAT. I read it in just two sittings and I loved the unique premise. I loved Cass and enjoyed following her on the journey to learning about how her memories of her dream boyfriend came about. This one had a sprig or mystery, and a lot of swoon-worthy moments. I enjoyed it so much and I am so glad to give this a 5-star rating!

This one was ok but there were a bunch of elements that I didn’t like. First the pacing of the plot was slow and not a lot happened. On top of this, the whole premise of fake memories from a coma was interesting but not well explored or developed. It really only was a focus for the first 50 pages of the book.

Second, I don’t really like love triangle tropes. Since this one is with brothers it felt even more awkward then normal. I also didn’t feel connected to either of the relationships. There just didn’t seem to be chemistry. Finally, the whole plot with Devin’s ex was really terrible and icky and totally just resolved without any thought. It seemed overly dramatic and unbelievable for no reason since it didn’t add to the plot.

This is Author Angie Hockman's second novel. After reading her debut, Shipped, I knew I had to read this as well! Thank you to NetGalley for the advanced e-copy! I will be buying a copy of Dream On to add to my shelves when it comes out!

Imagine waking up after being in a coma, expecting the love of your life, Devin Bloom, to be sitting by your side, only to find out he never really existed. Yet, somehow you have all these memories of him, know tiny details about his life, and you have the ability to picture him so perfectly that you can sketch him out. The Dr.'s, your bestie, and your mom tell you he isn't real, and to move on. He was only a side effect of your injury. This is exactly what happened to Cass Walker.

A year later, Cass is finally fully recovering from her accident and getting her life back on track, when she runs into Devin IRL! Even though he has no idea who she is, he believes her story and decides to give her a chance. Thus begins the whirlwind adventures of Cass and Devin!

This book was fun and exciting with great side characters! I wasn't expecting things to turn out the way they did, even though I DID figure out pretty early on where the romance was headed. This story made for an excellent read that I couldn't put down. Ultimately my favorite part was the relationship between Cass and her bestie Brie!

Must read! 4 stars!

Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.

Cassie, a promising young lawyer, is involved in a car accident on her way home from taking the bar. After 6 days in a coma, she wakes up with memories of her boyfriend Devin, the problem is, none of her family or friends knew him. Six months later Cassie meets Devin in a chance encounter, did Cassie actually dream up her perfect man or will some one need to wake her from a nightmare?

Honestly this book had so much potential and it just fell flat. Somehow it dragged and still didn’t really have anything happen. The relationships were sloppily written and rushed. I didn’t feel a connection between any of the characters. Just not a great read for me

Cassidy was unfortunately in a bad car accident and was in a coma for a couple days. While most people wake up from a coma with less memories- Cass woke up with more. She woke up with memories of a gorgeous guy that she had kisses with, sweet moments and shared conversations. A man that she believes to be her boyfriend. Problem is - no one has met him. Not her best friend or her mother and she has no photos, texts or a phone number with the name Devin. Cass is trying to move on with her life by moving out finally after her accident and start a new job but she happens to stumble upon Devin! He’s actually real but he has no idea who she is. So she’s determined to figure it all out.
A romantic and fun story. I don’t love love triangles but it was handled well and I was already on his team from the very moment we met him on the page! This will not be my last Angie Hockman

First off, thank you to Net Galley and Gallery Books for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I loved this book a lot more than I was expecting to! "Dream On" is about Cass Walker who thinks she has the perfect boyfriend but literally wakes up to find that he isn't real. Their first date and more that she remembers every tiny detail of was all a part of her coma induced dreams. After coming to term with her reality, she continues to live her life the best she can after her accident but one day she spots the real man of her "dreams.'

Right away the description pulled me in and reminded me of an early 2000's romantic comedy movie. It sounded so outrageous and cheesy, but it wasn't which is why I loved this book. There's no insta love between Cass and her perfect man, they really get to know each other, and it reminds you of a real-life relationship. I also appreciate how Cass isn't your typical MC especially after a life altering incident, she doesn't let it get her down. She is very smart, genuine, caring and independent and you can see it in all her relationships in this book.

What really made this book a five star for me were all the twists! It was not a predictable romance book in my opinion. These twists had me on my toes and had me switching the pages so quickly! I felt like it had a mystery aspect to it all. I really enjoyed the writing in this book and can't wait to read more from the author!

While this was well-written an engaging, I’m hesitant to call it a romance novel. There was technically an HEA, but you don’t see the end game couple on page together much at all. Their first kiss doesn’t happen until like 85% or 90% of the way through. This felt more like women’s fiction or chick lit – it sort of reminded me of an Emily Giffin novel. I was really intrigued by the concept of the FMC waking from a coma with fully formed memories of a prior relationship and then running into the real man, and think it could’ve sparked an incredible romance novel. Unfortunately, I don’t believe that’s what we got here.

Cass has the perfect boyfriend, he’s hot, he’s charming, he’s attentive and oh, he’s not real….or is he?

Cass gets into a car accident that puts her in a week long coma and when she wakes up she has all these vivid memories of her boyfriend of three months, Devin Bloom. It turns out Cass has no phone number, no photos and no trace of him leading everyone to believe he’s not real.

Cass walks into a floral shop called Blooms and Baubles one day to buy herself a congratulatory bouquet and that’s where she spots real Devin for the first time…and quickly passes out. After a little convincing to Devin and his older brother Perry they decide to humor Cass and meet with her to see if they can figure out how Cass knows so much about Devin (that turns out to be accurate and true).

During the course of the book Cass is working as a summer associate at a large law firm and has a co-worker, Mercedes, who seems to have it out for her and is grating on her nerves.

I won’t go into anymore plot details so that future readers who happen upon this review can be surprised but this book had all the things I love in a rom-com. It had a strong heroine, really great friends and a love story you can sense is there from the beginning that you’re so happy to see bright and shining through by the end. I also really liked Angie Hockman’s book shipped and this book has solidified her as an auto-buy author for me.

Five blooming stars!!

Thank you to Gallery Books and NetGalley for the advance copy of Dream On! Release date is 7/5!
I am very easy to please when it comes to reading contemporary romance. That was the case with this book. I just had a fun time reading it. Everything was so cute and fluffy. I loved the flower shop setting. Cass was a great main character I really liked her. I also really liked Devin and Perry. It was a good book and I would recommend it. Check TW there are a few serious topics that come up.

Okay now on to some more spoiler-ish comments so if you don’t want to know things stop reading here!

Definitely check TW for this book. The main character, Cass, is dealing with the aftermath of being in a coma for a few weeks after she crashed her car. There are also scenes with the male main characters Devin and Perry dealing with difficult family dynamics. Basically their dad is a controlling jerk. Then there’s some ex-girlfriend drama that is manipulation and stalkerish. Then later in the book there’s a side character talking about a recent miscarriage.
There is one open door sex scene and it’s in the epilogue. Felt unnecessary. It’s not explicit by any means but I just don’t think it needed to be there. Very mild language.

There are many things to like about Dream On, in particular the central love story. I loved the exploration of fate and dreams versus reality, and much like in her debut Shipped, Hockman's writing in the romantic moments really made me swoon.

Unfortunately the rest of the book fell a bit flat for me. I personally don't love reading books about lawyers as a lawyer myself, so part of my disconnect could be due to Cass's career struggles (which is very much a me problem, not a book problem). I did feel like the writing veered a bit trite at times, but I normally can overlook that if the rest of the story is working for me. I will say I took major issue with how one of the secondary romances here worked out. SPOILER - I already didn't love how Sadie/Mercedes was handled in this book, but using a miscarriage as a plot device is pretty gross, perhaps even more so when it's used as such for a secondary romance that doesn't come to head until the last few pages of the book, thus allowing for no meaningful exploration of the trauma associated with such a loss. And I'm sorry, Devin's treatment of Sadie is unconscionable, and I hate that they end up together in the epilogue - she deserves so much better. END SPOILER

Overall, I would still recommend Dream On, because what didn't quite work for me might work for you. And when this book is good, it's GOOD.

Thank you so much to the publisher for an advanced copy. All opinions my own.

CW: miscarriage, sexism in the workplace, strained parental relationships.

This was cute and fun, but completely forgettable. More like 2.5 stars than three stars.
I thought the premise was a little weird.

I appreciate that DREAM ON by Angie Hockman isn’t the same rinse and repeat plot. Beyond that though, the rest fall flat for me. The characters don’t stir positive or negative emotions because there’s not much to them. I’m not convinced on their chemistry either. Some of my favorite books are closed door romances so it’s not a lack of smut. However, I need more than “he touched my hand and I’m in love”. I want the build up, the richness in longing, or actions that prove their love. I enjoy the flower shop in the book and discussion on following one’s dreams and not adhering to what you’re told to do. There are elements I like, but overall just so-so.
