Light hearted and funny, this book was a delightful read. I really enjoyed the characters and found this book to be well written. Highly recommend.
I absolutely ADORED this book! I didn't know whether this one would live up to the authors debut but she exceeded all my expectations and blew this romcom out of the park! Not only is it completely endearing and sweet but it's unique! I highly recommend it!
Adorable, fun and romantic! Cass wakes from a coma and is distraught when her boyfriend Devin is no where to be found... except she has no boyfriend and the three months of memories she has are a mystery. As the story progresses, Cass finds herself moving forward into the lawyer life she planned for, until she meets Devin. How is this possible? Hockman does a lovely job creating a heartfelt romance with some fantastic characters. I enjoyed Shipped and this was just as fun to read! Thank you netgalley for this arc in exchange for my honest opinion!
I had high hopes for this one, but unfortunately was left disappointed. I found myself knowing the entire plot by 40%, frustrated and annoyed with the main character, skipping practically everything thet wasn't dialogue (and sometimes even that). While the plot was super interesting in theory, the execution wasn't right for me. I know people who would like this, but if you're looking for a solid plot and solid characters, this just wasn't it.
Ohmygoodess. I was pleasantly surprised with ONE spice scene at the literal end of this book. Not too explicit, but check content warnings.
This whole book was absolutely great. I loved the idea from the beginning and got hooked within a few pages. I wasn’t sure how the whole storyline would work out and make sense but it was so good!!
Romance, tension, family drama, and finding what speaks to your heart.
I really did love all of this.

Special thanks to Netgalley and Gallery Books publishing for this digital ARC.
Dream On is a rom-com about Cass, a woman who wakes up from a coma with memories of a boyfriend that doesn’t exist. When she meets him in real life some time after she’s recovered, she is left to wonder if he’s the man of her dreams.
I thought this book was engaging and sweet. I was more interested in the first half, as Cass’s relationship with Devin, her dream man, developed. As the conflict unfolded and the plot changed, I found myself less interested. But, the ending picked up again. Overall I think readers who enjoyed Shipped will like this one as well.
Since the author's debut novel, I have been not-so patiently waiting for more from her. My buckeye heart couldn’t contain its excitement the moment I read this is a book set in my home state Ohio….O-H!!
This was an intriguing premise. That our dreams or premonitions can manifest into reality or that there’s a driving kismet force that makes our desires a reality. But what is enjoyed the most is what happens when our dreams don’t match reality. Cass has been through hell and back and is now piecing her life back together, but also she’s trying to distinguish between a reality she’s current in versus the one she thought has before her accident.
This was an enjoyable journey of self discovery and personal growth. We have a tendency to romanticize visions in our head, but this book is a good reminder that the ideas or visions we formulate in our head can sometimes cloud the reality that surrounds us. It is always good to veer off course and be open to the possibility that we sometimes might miss. Thank you to Netgalley and Galley Books for this ARC
Cass wakes up from a coma and asks about her boyfriend Devin. The thing is, Devin doesn't exist. Or does he? It has taken Cass months to get over the man she thought she was dating. Her sketchbook is full of sketches of him. One day she enters a flower shop and discovers Devin is real! There are so many similarities and a few differences. Cass and Devin get to know each other and she also befriends his brother Perry. While trying to get to know Devin more and while trying to get a spot in a local well known law firm, she discovers that maybe everything isn't as it seems.
I adored this romance. The characters were engaging and likable. The story kept me well entertained. I loved the chemistry between the characters.
Dream On is such a cute and fun read with great characters!! This book has been really interesting and I enjoyed every moment. I liked the way this book surprised me in the best way. I thought it would go one way and it went the other which totally made sense to the story and the chemistry between two of these characters.
Following her bar exam, Cass is involved in a car crash that leaves her memory with some holes…and some added memories. When she wakes up from her coma, she’s confused as to where her boyfriend, Devin is. Turns out, Cass doesn’t have a boyfriend…but the dreams she had in her coma were so realistic.
Flash forward a year, and Cass has recovered from her injuries & is headed into her new job at Smith & Boone Law. After her first day, she stops in a flower shop to pick out a bouquet of flowers…and meets Devin? After explaining her ultra realistic dreams to Devin, they begin a relationship that seems fated. Or is it?
I really liked the idea of this story line. While story lines about memory loss following an accident are rather common, I’ve not seen a story line about added memories, so I liked the new and fresh ideas Hockman was able to script.
There were some great characters in the story. Cass & Devin took turns being immature in this story, which I didn’t love. I know they’re both young & there are a lot of emotions at play, but they are 26, not 20. It wasn’t an issue with the story line, per se, but more of how it actually played out. For that, I removed a star from my overall rating, Perry, though, was a fantastically endearing character. Perhaps that’s how Hockman wanted it to be, though? He was patient, supportive, a good listener, and downright sweet. I loved seeing how he stood up for what was right and for himself in this story, and I appreciated how the other characters in the story seemed to learn from him.
Overall, this was a sweet and fun story that will make a perfect summer read. The cover is fun, too, and perfectly plays into the story.
Dream On by Angie Hockman
4/5 ⭐️
I requested this arc because I LOVED Shipped by Angie. It was a great summer read last year and Dream On is a perfect spring read 🌷🌸🌺
Everything miss Angie did with this book was highly thought out and calculated; from the book cover to the characters to the plot.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book even though there’s a trope in here that I don’t particularly enjoy (❤️🔺) and try to stay away from, but honestly the tension and the plot kept me going.
Without diverging too much info, there were many plot twists and AHA! moments that I predicted. I kinda figured out where the plot was going about 30% in, but that didn’t take away from the story. I still really enjoyed it!
What I liked:
- theme of quarter life crisis because I too can relate at the age of almost 25
- Cass, going through a traumatic experience, and coming out stronger
- when the love interest does something small for the heroine, but it’s so thoughtful that you tear up a little bit
What didn’t work for me:
- Definitely had some parts where I’m like is there no loyalty??? If this happened to me, hands would be thrown ON SIGHT.
- in the words of Abby Miller, “You were good. I’m waiting for you to be great.”
Honestly, this book was a fun, quick Spring read. Not my fav of Angie’s but still good. It’s like a Hallmark movie that’s good enough that it gets put on Netflix, but not enough to watch twice. Does that make sense? 😂
I really loved this book and couldn’t put it down! The characters were amazing and well described and kept me interested to the last page
Imagine waking up from a coma and having memories of things that don't exist. In Dream On by Angie Hockman, Cass Walker wakes up from a 6 day coma asking for the love of her life, Devin Bloom. The only problem is Devin doesn't exist... his number isn't in her phone, they aren't connected on social media and no one has heard of him before. Although the doctors question the plausibility, Cass is convinced she didn't make this person up. When she goes into a flower shop... she runs into the man of her dreams - only he's never met her. How does Cass know information about Devin's childhood if they've never met?
I loved Cass's journey through this book and how the backstory unfolds. Thank you to Gallery Books and NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
With sharp writing, charming characters, and delightful banter, Dream On pits fate against possibility with a deftness that kept me reading long into the night. Angie Hockman has outdone herself with this one!
angie hockman was one of the first authors i ever read a book from when i began readers early 2021 so i was so excited to be approved for this book! and to no surprise i loved it! something about her writing just makes me feel calm and an easy read for me to zoom past!
This book pleasantly surprised me! I loved the description and I know how popular the author is, so I figured I would like it. But it did not go in the direction I thought it was going to, and I loved it! It’s always so refreshing in romance books when the love story isn’t the only thing going on. The premise of saving a small business from a greedy, powerful man (who is the father of the business owner!!!) was wonderful. Definitely made me laugh and swoon. A solid 4 star read.
The book was SO good. At first I was a little skeptical of the beginning of the book, and where it could have gone. But it did hook me right in and I ended up absolutely loving it! Such a fun read. I sat down and read it in one day.
This is a fun one! Cass, a driven law student, wakes up after a car accident puts her in a coma talking about a mystery man named Devin Bloom. In Cass's mind, she and Devin had been dating for months before her accident, but none of her family or friends have heard of him, and there's no record of them in her calls or text messages. And yet, she draws vivid pictures of him and recalls specific memories of their time together, until one day she stumbles upon him in a local flower shop. The story takes the reader in some unexpected directions as Cass and Devin try to uncover the mystery of their connection.
I want to start off by saying thank you to NetGalley and Gallery Book for an ARC in exchange of an honest review of Dream On.
I want to commend the author for writing a book about memory-loss / an accident, but I think that this premise just isn’t for me. With that being said, I thought the book was well-written and had a good message.
In the beginning, I was enjoying. However, the book started to become very very predictable and a little too cheesy for me. I did like the MC and side characters. But overall, it was underwhelming. And in my opinion it was missing the spice!
I did really enjoy this authors first book, Shipped, so I will continue to check out her book. But this one just was not for me.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 (5 stars)
I'm struggling to convey my thoughts on this novel because so much of what I want to gush about would completely spoil the story. So I’ll say this: the premise alone was incredibly intriguing, but the direction the author took was super refreshing, daring, and unlike many of the romances I’ve read.
I adored the heroine: her backstory, her motivations, her passions. And I adored the love interest and his connection with the heroine. I did not read Shipped, but I might honestly go back and read that considering what I now know the author to be capable of. I was not expecting to rate this 5 stars, since I rarely classify a book that high. It’s mostly attributed to how much I loved this reading experience.
