I really enjoyed Angie Hockman's SHIPPED, and the premise of this book is so original, I knew I had to read it asap. The major theme of this book was doing what logically seems right vs. what feels right deep down, and I liked how that showed up in Cass's navigation of both her relationships with Devin and Perry and also her career choices. The explanation for why Cass knew Devin when she woke up from her coma was really smart and interesting. Overall, despite the inclusion of some heavier subjects, this book was a fun time.

I'll start by saying, Shipped was one of my favorite books last year. So when I was approved for an ARC, I was so excited! But honestly, I was a little disappointed.

What I liked-
I liked Cass' character development. How she finally started to live the life SHE wants. She stands up for herself and starts to build a life that she will be proud of.

Brie and Marcus were awesome. & I honestly would love them to get their own story!

Cass' relationship with one of the other characters, I really wish we got more time with them together.

What I disliked-
A good amount of the story is spent Cass battling her feelings between two men. Which kind of took the romance away from me.

Without giving away spoilers, I felt too much time was focused on the side story between two other characters.

Overall, it was a good read.

What would happen if your dreams came true, but they weren't quite what you wanted?

Dream On tells the story of Cass Walker, who wakes from a coma with memories of a boyfriend who doesn't exist. When she runs into real-life Devin who she thought she had only dreamt of in a flower shop, the two hit it off despite and start dating. However, Cass can't keep Devin's sweet younger brother, Perry, out of her mind.

This story has one of the best meet-cutes I've read and is super sappy. Perry and Devin are both extremely loveable and Cass's best friend is super sweet. This is not a deep, emotional love story. It's a beach read and you know it. Surface-level dialogue that could have been skimmed from any other rom-com. But despite all of that, I really enjoyed it! It avoided a lot of tropes that I dislike (like woman v. woman or demonizing one person). It was super predictable, which I didn't care for, and could have used a few more surprises. Definitely a fun read, and I'd recommend it.

What a delight! I love this fresh rom com by Angie Hockman that feels like going to the movies and seeing While You Were Sleeping, and some old school Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks. Cass wakes up from a coma with the memory of a literally dreamy man named Devin Bloom, but no one believes her because in her waking life, she never mentioned him. Of course, the plot delightfully thickens when Devin turns out to be real-life, very attractive man.

The chemistry between Cass and Devin is nice, but the real chemistry, and where a lot of the slow burn happens is between Cass and Perry, Devin's brother. Plot twist! And more! As she did in her first novel, Hockman writes great dialogue, and characters who are interesting, hilarious, and easy to root for.

Going on simultaneously with the romance is a deeper plot--and maybe my favorite part of the book?--about Cass' struggle between doing what's expected by being a lawyer, and following her artistic heart. There are also beautifully described scenes in a flower shop, and a lively best friend who anyone would want in their corner.

Hockman has written a perfectly cozy and thoughtful book. A romcom that stays with you long after you read it. Highly recommend!

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC of this book.

What would you do if you woke up from a coma looking for the man of your dreams, only to discover he wasn't real? Cass Walker is involved in a car accident and immediately asks to see her boyfriend once she regains consciousness. Her family, friends, and even her phone records, however, say she was never seeing anyone named Devin Bloom. So why can Cass vividly remember the details of their first date, and even Devin's plans for his future? He must be real, right?

After coming to terms with the fact that her false memories were induced by her coma: enter Devin Bloom, in the flesh. Is it fate, or something else? You might think you know how this story will end, but trust me, you're wrong. Angie Hockman crafts her reveals perfectly, and I thoroughly enjoyed seeing Cass evolve.

Remember, we are not alive to simply work, go to sleep, and repeat! Find what ignites you.

Review: Cass Walker is just waking up from a coma when she wonders where her boyfriend is, but it turns out he isn't real. After a car accident put her in a coma for six days she wakes up with vivid memories of her boyfriend Devin, but they are just memories. A little over a year later, Cass is trying to put her life back together and live life post grad school and post coma.

When she wanders into a local flower shop - she thinks the owner is cute and before he can ask her on a date someone comes out of the back room. Cass knows that voice and she sees his face and it's Devin. Of course, after that hijinks ensue where Cass has to try to explain she's not a stalker and she doesn't know how she knows him, but she has a lot of information about him. Devin in intrigued so they give dating a try.

I felt, and obviously so, Devin leaves a lot to be desired here. From a real life and a dream boyfriend. As Cass and Devin date, she realized that she has a lot in common with Devin's brother and starts to think maybe the dreams weren't fate - maybe they were leading her to Perry.

I loved this story about following your dreams and how to know when dreams are just that - dreams. I didn;t like where I felt all the characters has major chips on their shoulders about their jobs or lives and how there didn't seem like there was any room for a difference between the two. Overall, it was a good read. Both fun and lighthearted while dealing with all the little pieces of life that make it complicated and crazy.

I read this author’s first book last year and while the premise of that one was intriguing, I failed to fully connect with the story. I went into this one with an open mind and was pleasantly surprised…up until around the 88% mark. To be completely honest, it felt like there was a page limit and the author tried to cram everything in and tie up all the loose strings within a few pages. It felt rushed and unrealistic - almost as if someone had stolen the pen. Total bummer when the rest of the story was quite enjoyable, despite being a bit predictable.

I enjoyed this book very much—an engaging, sweet romance with an unexpected “magical’ twist. I found it hard to put down! The main character, Cass, is realistic, believable, and so endearing. The dialogue is witty, and the relationships are authentic. The author weaves a story that addresses the challenges of careers and finding lasting happiness. It’s one I would read again and recommend to others.

Thank you to NetGalley and Gallery Books for an e-book copy of DREAM ON by Angie Hockman to review.

So, I loved Shipped. I didn't expect DREAM ON to be as good as Shipped because I'm not a big fan of amnesia stories. I enjoyed DREAM ON a good bit, but there were a few things that gave me pause. (nothing terrible though!)

This book had a lot of really sweet moments. I loved Percy and his passion for being a florist and the little things he did here and there for Cass. I thought his character was well-developed.

I had issues with Cass though, She seemed to fly off the handle very easily a few times with Devin. I thought she was maybe expecting too much, too soon. She came off as unlikeable at times, but she redeemed herself in the end.

Spoiler alert, spoiler alert, spoiler alert:

I kept waiting the entire book for us to find out Devin had actually dated Cass only to pretend he didn't for some weird reason ... Perhaps I'm too cynical, but the way the book was playing out in how he was at times elusive just gave me that impression. So, it was nice to see that they had, in fact, never dated until after her accident. Yet, I was waiting for the other shoe to drop for most of the book which was a bit distracting.

I also was worried he was involved in the accident with her the way she focused on his facial scar. So, again, that was a nice surprise that he was not in the accident.

The love scene at the very end of the book seemed out of place. I don't like when characters have sexy times right away - yet, I'm also not a fan of the one-night-stand only to begin dating quickly - but this was a closed door romance until the epilogue which was different.

Overall I enjoyed the book and I know it will have a lot of fans once it's released.

I rate DREAM ON three out of five stars.

Thank you Netgalley for an advanced copy of Dream on. I found this one just okay. I didn’t care for Cassidy. She meets her dream man, literally, and after a few dates, it’s obvious she’s into his brother Perry more. Yet she continues to date Devin for months. Or at least it felt like months. I don’t know I didn’t connect with Cassidy and Devin so their relationship dragged on. I really didn’t like the work office “villain” Mercedes, and was annoyed that she got a happy ending. Easy read, not my favorite, but still a fun read in between the thrillers.

Cass Walker wakes up after 6 days in a coma with memories of a relationship with her boyfriend Devin - only it turns out that Devin doesn't exist! A year later, she meets Devin at his brother's flower shop and they instantly hit it off. Is it fate?

This book had such a unique premise, but unfortunately I think that the execution just fell a little bit flat. Overall, the story was fairly predictable and I thought there could have been more done with such cool idea.

I didn't really like the love triangle aspect of the book, and I felt like parts of this area did drag on for too long. However, it was handled very well!

I loved Cass, and I was rooting for her in her relationship and her personal journey throughout the entire book. I also really liked her relationship with Brie - the friendship felt so real and natural.

The conclusion to the book felt very satisfying and I loved the way it ended!

A little bit mystery and a lot of 'coming of age,' Hockman tries to tie together a lot of storylines in Dream On. Cass has been recovering/rehabbing from a week long coma due to a car accident. It's a year later and she's finally moving forward but she's got a shoddy memory and a bit of a panic disorder (understandable, right?). She jumps back into the big-time law office career that she was about to embark on pre-accident/coma and runs into this guy she's been dreaming about but has never met. You read the description so I won't rehash that part for you. Cass isn't the easiest heroine to like; she's not really relatable. She is a force to be reconned with when it comes to 'lawyering' and researching, and planning, and apparently even painting. She's like a freaking super-human and I'm not sure how in the world she has time to do all of these things and date someone and save a shop from disaster. But have no fear, super heroine Cass is here. And she hooks not one guy but two!! in the process.
Devin is apparently a work in progress. Perry is the sensitive, intuitive florist brother whom Cass meets first. There's a rival at the law firm (of course it's another "perfectly" polished woman her age with her own traumatic backstory but is painted like a villain for 75% of the book. You just know she's got some redeeming qualities that are misunderstood the entire time.
This wasn't my favorite read (by a long shot) - I considered DNF, but I'm just not a quitter and I was hoping for something redemptive in the end. I enjoyed Shipped so I was hoping I could get into this one too.
Thanks so much for the ARC!

A quick-and-easy read! I wouldn't call it light-hearted as there are discussions of miscarriage and mentions of stalking., but it was a delightful romance. It was a breath of fresh air to read a romance novel that also focused on our female protagonist's career. I'm not a huge fan of love triangles, but this one wasn't obnoxious. Intriguing, cute, and a great beach read!

Angie Hockman didnt let me down reading this book. I smiled and shed some tears that had me bursting with joy and so much happiness: I loved everything about this book and to me, Hockman managed to provide a heartfelt and joyous book that had me scrambling for more. 5/5 happy stars!

Angie Hockman has done it again with Dream On - Shipped was one of my favorite books of last year and this did not disappoint! Dream On was so fun - so sweet!

Cass gets into a car wreck and while she was in a coma, she dreamed about dating a man named Devin. When she comes out of her coma, she realizes that it was all a dream and moves on with her life. A year later she runs into Devin! They begin dating and it is so fun and so weird and so interesting.

This was such a fresh story unlike any I have read before and I loved Cass and Devin so much. As with Shipped, Angie Hockman does a wonderful job writing side characters in a way that keeps you totally interested in what is happening for them along with the main characters. Brie was so fun and I love seeing female friendships.

Cannot recommend this one enough - Dream On is a perfect spring read. Thank you to Netgalley, Gallery Books, and Angie Hockman for this advanced copy in exchange for an honest review!

Law student Cast Walker wakes up in the hospital one day after a car crash and spending six days in a coma. She is flooded with memories of her boyfriend, Devin. The only problem is that Devin doesn’t exist. She remembers everything about him and he feels so real to her, but everyone else chalks it up to her imagination. She can’t get him out of her head, though. Low and behold she runs into Devin a year later and she is completely shocked. Devin believes her story and they start a relationship. Everything seems perfect in her life with her dream man and job, but fate may have other plans for her.

*Spoilers ahead*
Shipped was one of my top reads last year. I absolutely adored it and went into this book with high expectations. Unfortunately this book fell a bit flat for me. While I think the plot line was unique, the fate/instant love and then love triangle just didn’t quite work for me. I really liked Perry, but I needed so much more of him in this book. The fact that Cass fell in love with Perry just wasn’t believable for me because of such little interaction between the two of them. Therefore there was just a lack of romance and chemistry throughout the entire book. And the epilogue just did not work for me at all. The entire book was super clean and then the author decided to make it open door right at the very end. It was so odd and did not fit in with the rest of the book. I feel like the author just threw it in last minute to please some of her audience and it ended up just being very awkward.

I did enjoy seeing Cass go after what she truly wants in life in order to be happy and I enjoyed her relationship with her best friend, Brie.

This was such a cute read, and I found myself rooting for a certain ending right from the start 😂 It was a light, sweet, and fun read with just enough suspension of disbelief to keep you on your toes!

Cass Walker is head over heels for her boyfriend, Devin, who is perfectly matched for her in every way. The only challenge is that he doesn’t exist.

After a car accident left her comatose, Cass woke up to memories of things that never happened - namely, an entire relationship with her dream (literally) man. Reeling from the loss of someone that nobody else ever knew, Cass tries to move forward with her life and put Devin and their relationship behind her.

Until she meets him in real life.

Much to the distress of his brother, Perry, Devin believes Cass’s story, and the two decide to give the relationship a try. But Cass isn’t the girl she was in her dream - and, despite all the evidence to the contrary, Devin isn’t either. While they try to uncover the mystery of Cass’s fake memories, she finds herself questioning the choices she’s made and the ones before her. And she discovers that the search for her Dream Man may have lead her to something even better.

Thank you to Net Galley, the author, and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review!

I want to commend authors of the romance genre for attempting to cover new ground/taking an unconventional approach. I recently read Christina Lauren's Something Wilder and thought, "This is different, for sure." Had a very similar train of thought while reading this one. And yet, in both cases, I was NOT sold on the outcomes.

The premise for this was very strange and, for a decent chunk of the book, I was pretty intrigued to see where it was going. The story opens several months after the protagonist, Cass, has suffered a traumatic brain injury. On the day of her bar exam, she got into a serious car crash, which put her into a week-long coma. When she wakes up, she has clear memories of having a boyfriend named Devin Bloom. Memories that are vivid enough, in fact, that she can sketch his face with precise detail.

While visiting a local flower shop, Cass meets the actual Devin, apparent man of her dreams. And it's not simply his face she can recall, but all sorts of personal information about him, as well. Thing is, neither has any idea as to where they met or how Cass knows so much about him.

As the story progressed, I had no idea how the author was going to provide a feasible explanation for Cass' memories. Were it not for that element of mystery, I don't know that I would have been as interested to finish this. The other significant aspects at play include Cass' obvious (and somewhat predictable) connection with Devin's older brother, Perry, and the ongoing (yet inexplicable) beef she has with another new employee at her law firm, Mercedes.

While I can appreciate that the author did things a bit differently, I didn't feel any real investment in the characters. I think it was a touch too quirky for me and the explanation for Cass' link to Devin didn't really do it for me. However, I do like that the author represented some of the long-term challenges that can follow someone dealing with a TBI. And while it wasn't really the right book for me, I think it's nice to see romance authors thinking outside of the box and taking new approaches. The mix of romance and mystery was refreshing, even if I wasn't totally into how it played out.

45. / 5 stars.

I was nervous when I started this book. You just never know how books with a memory-loss / accident premise are going to go. But I have to admit that I was pleasantly surprised. I liked the characters and there was enough mystery in the plot to keep me hanging until the very end. Sometimes with romance you get 25% of the way in and know what's coming next, but I genuinely was surprised several times in the final quarter of the book. Angie Hockman has quickly become a must read for me!

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for an advance copy of the book.
