I wanted to love this book but it fell a little flat for me.
It was a great concept but pretty predictable.
I was almost taken off guard by the fact that Sadie was Mercedes but somewhere in the middle it was made obvious so that was a bummer because that would have been a huge shock.
I also could tell from very, very early on that Perry would be the one she ended up with. Which made the book seem a little longer than it needed to be.
I also really hated the religious digs throughout this book. Example: the fact of comparing God to the tooth fairy. It felt unnecessary to throw those comments in there.
And the page of smut at the end felt like it was just thrown in there at the end to satisfy romance readers. But the books really didn’t need that. It was clean throughout and all of a sudden this smut scene felt very out of character.
This was a cute rom-com. I enjoyed the premise of this one a lot. I also thought the characters were likable. Unfortunately, I felt like too many things were happening and the connecting of them all at the end was a little rushed. Also, there were several times when the story jumped ahead that didn't really flow for me.
Overall I liked this one, but didn't love it. It had some really great moments, but I was left wanting more from the romance.
This author also wrote Shipped which I loved, so I will continue to check out her work in the future. She writes fun, relatable characters and her books have unique settings to them.
Cass Walker just passed the bar exam and ends up in a bad car accident. She was in a coma for 6 days and woke up looking for her boyfriend, Devin Bloom. But she doesn't have a boyfriend.
I loved this book. I had a really hard time putting it down. I wanted to ignore everything and just devour it. It reminded me a bit of While you were sleeping the movie but with a twist.
Thank you so much to the publisher and Netgalley for a free e-copy of the book.
Absolutely loved this book. I wasn't quite sure what to make of it at first, but it quickly sucked me into the story. I adored all the characters and wished they were MY friends. If you liked "Shipped", you'll love "Dream On". I can't wait for Angie Hockman's next book!
Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for a free copy in exchange for my honest review.
I absolutely adored Dream On. It was the perfect balance of cute, romantic, and heartfelt. The plot intrigued me from the start, and our main characters Cass, Devin and Perry kept me turning the pages.
Angie Hockman is definitely getting better and better as an author. I enjoyed her first novel, Shipped, and fell in love with Dream On. I can't wait to read future books by this author.
Dream On is a warm hug for your heart. And after reading and loving the second Angie Hockman book, she is now a must-read author for me.
Cass has just woken up from a coma. She was in a car accident. Her memories are fuzzy. But she definitely remembers her boyfriend. Or does she? Her mom and best friend don’t seem to know anything about this man that Cass remembers so vividly. What follows is a romantic comedy with tons of heart while Cass navigates her life trying to find the mystery man of her dreams, nab her dream job at a prestigious law firm, and overcome the effects of her car accident.
I love Cass so much. She’s driven, a dreamer, artistic, someone I want to be best friends with! I also am obsessed with the fact that this romance has some mystery tied to it. You don’t see that often, and I am all about it.
I loved Angie Hockman’s Shipped, but I honestly think I liked this one even more. If this is how things are going to go, I can’t wait to see what’s next! Go pick up a copy this summer for a great poolside read!
Thank you to NetGalley and Gallery books for the advanced copy.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Wow guys. I loved Shipped, but @angie_hockman knocked it out of the park with her 2nd novel Dream On! (And I'm not biased at all that the MC is a lawyer 😉) And good news- this is a standalone book, so no need to read Shipped first. But read both! Because they're both great! 😄
When law school grad Cass Walker wakes up from a coma after surviving a car accident, she's flooded with memories of a man named Devin. The only problem? He doesn't exist. So when she stumbles on the real Devin at his brother Perry's flower shop a year later as she's starting a summer associate position at her dream law firm, it seems like her dreams have come true! She has the prestigious job AND her dream man. But fate may have other plans...with dreams Cass could have never expected!
My review can be summed up in three chanted words: PERRY PERRY PERRY!!!! 🎉 Perry is the best and sweetest supporting character I've read. And guys - Angie nailed the pressures, realities, and challenges of big law. AND the book is full of laughs, aww moments, and thoughtful reflections on life. In other words, add this to your TBR now and go pre-order your copy. This is out July 5, and it isn't one you want to miss!
Thanks so much to @netgalley @gallerybooks and the author for the #arc 😀
I loved everything about this book, the concept kind of reminded me of the movie Just Like Heaven and it was so well written.
This book was definitely predictable, but very funny and entertaining. Cass is a spitfire, she isn't afraid to speak her mind, and is quick to stand up for herself and others. She's a very likable main character and it was easy to root for her happily ever after. My favorite character is definitely her best friend Brie, she is down-to-earth, loyal and always there for Cass.
To be honest, Devin didn't feel like the perfect dream guy to me, I was hoping for a better option to come along and he did.
I'd definitely recommend this book to people who loved the movie Just Like Heaven and people who enjoy reading love stories.
Thank you for the eARC @netgally & @gallerybooks!
Dream On was an adorable and unique RomCom! This storyline was different from most other romances I have read and I really appreciated this fresh approach. There was a lot of tension and high stakes during this story which really kept me invested.
Cass Walker is a great character and her struggles with her career and figuring out what she wants to do was extremely relatable for me. She deals with career-driven anxiety and has to decide what exactly is best for her, not just stick to the outline of her life that was put together when she was younger. She is also a bad ass attorney bitch, if I do say so myself.
Aside from the romance, the platonic relationships in this novel were wonderful. I love love love to see strong female friendships in my books.
This book was 4/5 stars for me and I would absolutely recommend this to anyone, especially those who enjoyed Angie Hockman's previous novel, "Shipped"!
Dream On by Angie Hockman is about a woman, Cass, who comes out of a coma fully believing that she’s been dating Devin Blooms. The catch? Devin Blooms isn’t real and was never dating Cass. “Dream On” tells the story of what happens post-accident, and how Cass comes to realize that the man of your dreams might just be that- a man for your dreams but not for you.
Contemporary romances are usually hit-or-miss for me, and “Dream On” is probably one of the better contemporaries that I’ve read this year! This book surprised me in all of the best ways and has so much of what I love to read about. Our FMC, Cass, is a smart woman who is on track to become a partner at a law firm. After her first day back to to work, Cass decides to treat herself to some flowers from a local flower shop. At this flower shop she meets Perry, the cute florist and owner of the shop. She also, for a split second, sees Devin, the literal man from her dreams. What happens next is how Cass comes to know Devin, while they work towards figuring out how Cass knows so much about him, despite never having met.
Naturally, the relationship isn’t perfect, but what I loved is that Cass always talked through her feelings with Devin. I hate miscommunication in books and was so relieved when the characters talked to each other and avoided the unnecessary drama. I also admired that Cass cared not only for Devin but for his brother, Perry. Without spoiling the book, I think it would have been easy for Cass to always side with Devin, but Cass stood above that and made it a point to call Devin out when he wasn’t being fair to his brother.
Speaking of Perry, I loved his relationship with Cass! Unlike Devin, Perry listened to Cass and stood up for her around others. Perry also encourages Cass to find time for creativity, which was the opposite of Devins “you need to be cutthroat and borderline burnt out” mentality. While Devin might have looked perfect on paper, Perry was truly the one who complimented Cass.
Like I said in the beginning, “Dream On” is such a fun, contemporary read. The romance is open door, the characters actually talk through their problems, and the message is a great one. I would highly recommend this book and will likely be buying a physical copy for my bookshelf. I loved this book.
Thank you to NetGalley for the free e-arc in exchange for my honest review.
A fun take on "While You Were Sleeping," chalk full of wit and romance. Imagine waking from a coma with clear images of the love of your life, the discussions you had, the secrets he shared...only to find it was all a dream. Then unning into him months later! This story is the perfect beach read- don't miss it!
Dream On is an absolute swoonfest of cuteness wrapped up in a beautiful flower arrangement.
When Cass gets into a car accident and ends up in a six day coma, she imagines a three month relationship with a man named Devin Bloom, but upon waking up, she realizes that she has never had that relationship and never met Devin before in her life. A year goes by when she goes into a flower shop and comes face to face with Devin, the man she thought she imagined, as well as Perry, his older brother.
The twists and turns of this book were immense fun and throughout the book, Cass learns that she has to face herself, not just uncover the mystery of how she and Devin connected or grapple with her confusing feelings for Devin's brother, Perry. This is a book that deserves to be savored and enjoyed as it makes you smile from ear to ear. The feelings that slowly develop between Cass and Perry feel so real and sweet that it's difficult not to want to scream at Cass to just see what's right in front of her. But even while that frustration grows, it's easy to understand why Cass is torn between what feels like fate and what could be something amazing.

After liking Angie’s debut, I needed to check her sophomore book to find out what else she has up her sleeve and I got an opportunity to read this early copy in exchange of an honest review thanks to NetGalley and Gallery Books.
The whole time I spent reading this one I kept thinking about how cool it would be to watch a movie with this plot, you can visualize it so well and it fits perfectly. The writing in this is so easy to read, Ms. Angie surely knows how to keep your attention and the anticipation feeling for the next chapter!
Even though I have some complaints — because of my personal preference — about how the romance were built, it still was an entertaining read. I would recommend ‘Dream On’ for those looking for something light!
While I really loved the concept of Dream On - a woman wakes up after a horrific car accident with false memories of having a serious relationship with a guy she's never met, then comes to find out he's actually real - the execution hindered me from fully enjoying it.
The over-explanatory, cheesy writing is not for me. I really, r e a l l y hate when authors spell out what's happening, I'd much prefer to piece things together on my own. That, the cheesy tone and somewhat predictable twists had me cringing and flirting with DNF like I did with Shipped, but I ended up skimming through the rest.
But! It all comes down to personal taste. If you love cheesy contemporary romances and aren't nitpicky with writing like me, you'll love this.
I like this book but it was very predictable and fill of tropes. I feel like taking out half of them would have resulted in a better story. There wasn't even the benefit of a slow burn before the epilogue was nearly three years in the future. I did like how all the characters interacted with each other but felt all the contrivances kept the reader from investing in the hero and heroine
Thank you Netgalley and publisher for the arc of this book.
So I was very excited for this book as I loved Shipped! The premise was interesting and so I dove on in.
Cass wakes up from a coma remembering a boyfriend no one knew about. She walks into a flower shop a year later and sees him! She explains and they decide to date and see what the future holds because maybe it was fate.
I liked Cass. I think her journey was amazing and we get to see her grow and learn and find out who she is after an awful accident that changed her life. Perry is my favorite though! His passion for doing a job that makes him happy, keeping his business afloat, being sweet and kind in general to everyone he meets. You definitely root for him above all characters!
But the love triangle was weird. Clearly she was attracted to Perry more than Devon from the start. I get her trying with Devon because he was the man from her dreams but I didn’t appreciate it, it felt dishonest when her internal thoughts were of Perry. I also just didn’t like Devon or Sadie and that whole storyline wasn’t need at all, it added absolutely nothing to the story except a traumatizing experience to a weak side character.
But if you’re looking for an easy romcom read this would check the box.
Unputdownable! Read this in a day. With a compelling story line and a strong female protagonist, Dream On moves beyond the tired rom-com to combine suspense, sizzling attraction, a love triangle, and a dash of fate. Enjoyable to read, and the plot elements were cohesive and cleverly presented. The love scene in the epilogue seemed out of place and did not add much to the story. Overall 5 stars. Would recommend!
I absolutely loved Angie Hockman’s first book, Shipped. So when I saw her second book in Net Galley I requested right away! I’m so happy I did! This one was so much fun!
Cass wakes up from a coma after a car accident flooded with memories of her boyfriend, Devin….except Devin doesn’t exist! A year later she runs into him and tells him her seemingly crazy story, he believes her and they start dating!
This story was so cute, took some turns I wasn’t expecting. I usually don’t like the love triangle trope but this one worked! It was slightly slow in the middle and it was very slow build up to the romantic parts but overall was a fun read!
Thank you Net Galley and Gallery Books for the opportunity to read Dream On early !
When I seen one of my favorite romance authors Angie Hockman coming out with a new stunning novel I jump all over it! DREAM ON is seriously one of the cutest, funniest most realistic stores I've read in awhile. I've the chemistry between Cass and Devin was outstanding, remarkable even. I couldn't get enough of them. And when I don't want a book to end and wish it was 500 pages that's when I know I have read a five star book! Angie, you outside yourself here. If you read one romamce novel for the year of 2022 make it Dream On! Meet the most tempting, enchanting, sizzling romamce of the year guys!
Cass wakes up from a coma following a car accident with short term memory issues and a head full of memories of her boyfriend. Only problem is, her boyfriend doesn’t exist. A year after the accident, Cass is working to get her life in order when she meets the man whose face has haunted her dreams. After meeting for real they begin dating and everything is perfect…until it’s not.
This was a sweet RomCom with a unique subject matter. The MCs are all very likable, you can’t help but root for them. I found myself wanting Cass to discover her purpose and her happiness almost as much as Cass did. I very much loved that we were given a window inside her end at the end with the reveal that brings everything full circle. I don’t typically enjoy love triangles, but this one wasn’t bad. There were a few plot elements that didn’t seem to make sense, but in general this book was a quick, easy read with an adorable storyline.
Thanks to NetGalley and Gallery Books for providing this ARC. All opinions are my own.
