Can you imagine to wake up from 6 days long coma? Looking at your boyfriend who is waiting by your side? Wait: he’s not there! And guess what? You never met him. You’re still single even though you have special memories about a man named Devin who works for his family business, giving her beautiful flowers, sharing a romantic dance with her!
Sorry Cass: the sweet, caring boyfriend giving you flowers you’re looking for cannot be reached at this moment. Please dream again later!
Does Cass have extra powerful imagination skills or is she losing her last standing marbles?
For proving her point, she stops by the flower shop: and she’s completely right: Devin-her so imaginative boyfriend is there and he believes in her story! So they find happily ever after and I can start another book!
Nope: not so fast: because Devin and Cass’ story is too good to be true! First of all: Devin has a sweetest brother who is also black sheep of the family and when they encounter with Cass at the flower shop, you want to scream at Cass: you’re picking up the wrong guy, stop dreaming, be realistic, choose Perry!
Yes, I resumed reading and kept screaming the same thing!
I’m not into love triangles too much. But the author thankfully handled the situation adroitly.
I’m not giving much away but I have to admit, the explanation about why Cass was dreaming of Devin is truly satisfying enough? Is she a clairvoyant? Nope, I’m not giving away, you get to read!
I loved the progression of the story and conclusion is also well-wrapped up. But I wish the main love story would be a little rushed! I wished they spent more time and came clean about their feelings.
I’m still rounding up 3.5 stars to 4 because of clever plot idea ( even though I have still hesitations about love triangle)
I love Angie Hockman’s sweet romcom stories and I’m looking forward to read her future works as well.
Special thanks to NetGalley and Gallery Books for sharing this digital reviewer copy with me in exchange my honest thoughts.
I absolutely loved "Dream On" by Angie Hockman. This was an amazing love story of Cass, who came out of a coma dreaming about a boyfriend who didn't exist. Until she realizes that he actually does! I don't want to give too many spoilers away, but know that Cass does end up getting her true happy ending. I highly recommend this book!
5 glorious stars for Dream On!
Cass wakes up from a coma looking for her boyfriend, Devin Blooom, only to find he doesn't exist. Cut to nearly a year later, she sees him but he doesn't remember her. They develop a relationship with lots of twists and turns to follow.
A novel that truly kept me guessing. How did she conjure up all these memories of Devin? Is it fate?
A must read! Make sure you read the prologue too!
Thank you so much to Netgalley and the publishing team for this arc!
3.5 stars!
The premise of this book is so interesting, I knew I had to read it.
We follow our leading lady, Cass who woke up from a coma to find out that the man of her dreams isn't an actual thing and after a year of recuperating, she stumbles into a flower shop to find out that indeed, he is real!
I liked Cass a lot. I thought her journey was a satisfying one. You were rooting for her from the start and as you read, you knew (and wanted) her career path to go as it did. I loved Brie and all the other friends she made along the way.
||||| SPOILERS FROM HERE ON OUT |||||
I wanted her with Perry the moment she stepped foot into that flower shop. I am not a fan of accidentally/moving on to dating brothers because it rubs me the wrong way however, this wasn't done too badly.
In all honesty, I was waiting for her and Devin to fall through. He was too good to be true and the more we continued to see him on-page, the more ick he became. The whole thing with Sadie was so unforgivable to me and I loath that they ended up together in the epilogue. I would've never forgiven him for what he did to her. But alas!
I knew Perry was the one for her the more they spent time on the page together. I loved his passion for his business and how an all-around nice guy he was. That being said, I wish there was a little more oomph for their romance. I saw it coming and I wanted it to happen but it still felt a little lacking to what I wanted.
I liked the plot overall and appreciated seeing the community and how they all came together. Overall, this was a cute easy read with an interesting plot! The cover is stunning!
Thank you Net Galley and Gallery Books for this ARC. All opinions are my own.
What an experience, this book.
This is the first time I read Angie Hockman and I can assure you it won't be the last. The writing, the plot, the characters were all spot on.
The book revolves around Cassidy, who, after a car accident, wakes up from a coma flooded with memories of her relationship with Devin. Thing is, Devin isn't real. That is, until she does bump into the real Devin at a flower shop,
You really don't expect what's going to happen to happen. At first I could see where this was going, and I was kind of weighing whether I liked it, but as the book went on, I grew fonder and fonder of the idea. Cassidy is a strong, likeable character, and it is nice to see a book with personal growth but without taking the focus off romance [after all, that's what we all came here looking for ;)]
The only thing that didn't stick with me was the sex scene. But overall was a pretty great book and I'm glad I got to read it beforehand!
A rom com about the heroines’ dream man becoming real. Unfortunately for me I didn’t find the story to believable. Nor did I find myself liking the main character.
Angie Hockman's "Shipped" was one of my top reads last year so I was excited to read her next book. Dream On was an interesting story line and a an easy read. Cass is in a life-altering car accident where she sustains a traumatic brain injury. Not only does she need to recover from the injury, but she needs to figure out why she wakes up with memories of a boyfriend and relationship that have never existed.
Imagine her shock when she runs into her imaginary boyfriend... for real! She works hard to figure out if there is a connection between them and why his image is burned into her brain. She discovers that love isn't always left up to chance - we can choose who we love and how we love them!
This was a fun, fast-paced read. I enjoyed the side characters and I enjoyed the storyline. It seemed to drag just a bit at times, but overall it was a fantastic read!
Thank you to NetGalley and Gallery Books for the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Dream On by Angie Hockman is a great contemporary romance that kept me entertained throughout.
This book from this author is a first for me and I really think I her unique style and writing. She presents a nice, light, fun, humorous, and engaging narrative, well-rounded character cast, and a unique plot line that made this contemporary romantic comedy feel fresh and new.
I really enjoyed myself as I followed along with Cass as she rediscovered her life, her passions, and sifted through what she thought was meant to happen vs what she was able to control and change herself. This book is as much about finding her inner self as it was about finding the love of her life. I really like it when there is a second layer of complexity and meaning to a book. It gives substance and heft to what could be otherwise just a “typical” romance.
I will definitely read more from this author.
4/5 stars
Thank you NG and Gallery Books for this wonderful arc and in return I am submitting my unbiased and voluntary review and opinion.
I am posting this review to my GR and Bookbub accounts immediately and will post it to my Amazon, Instagram, and B&N accounts upon publication on 7/5/22.
I really really liked this book. The setting in the flower shop is so vibrant and cozy. Cass is a firecracker and her brain and quick wit were a delight to read.
This book was VERY predictable. I saw all but one of the twists coming yet I didn't mind at all. Romcoms have a cozy comfortable feeling to them, and so I was so excited to see what would happen next.
I could totally see this becoming a movie in the future. I absolutely enjoyed it!
Amazing, amazing, amazing! I cannot express just how much I loved Angie Hockman's second book, Dream On. It's the story of a woman, Cassidy (Cass) who wakes from a coma having imagined an entire relationship with a man (Devin Bloom) who isn't real, until she discovers a ear later, that he actually is in the form of Devin Syznarski. What happens next is so good and so hard to describe without giving too much away because the beauty of this book is how all the different story lines unfold and converge.
The story is definitely a roller coaster with a lot of different complications for Cass as she gets to know her "dream guy" and start her career as a lawyer, but each new plot point is a delightful surprise. There is so much going on in this book, but it all works. The side characters are great additions to the story without overshadowing any of the main characters and the happily ever after is *chef's kiss.
Cass's experiences, both personal and professional, really immerse the reader into the story because you are immediately invested in what happens. The premise is so out there but so perfect. I was gripped by this book and could not put it down; I finished it in one sitting. If you read a lot of romance novels, some aspects of the novel could be considered predictable, but it is so entertaining and sweet, you won't even care. I do think there is one sex scene that is really unnecessary. It feels forced in, but it doesn't detract from the overall enjoyment of the novel. I highly recommend this book to anyone, but especially readers of women's fiction and romance.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
so I'm feeling conflicted...
this wasn't bad by any means, i just couldn't connect with intended emotions (if that even makes sense idk...)
with how the story was described i knew that it'll definitely hold my interest because it's given that there'll be a snag somewhere. some cues were picked up on pretty early and there was definitely a shift in atmosphere about 30% in...
i'm not mad at the direction it went in even though it didn't mention a certain trope that I'm not the biggest fan of... i'm just glad that the trope didn't completely ruin the story for me but it did dim my connection with it a bit
it wasn't boring but also wasn't the most revolutionary story because i felt like there were a lot of emphasis put on the things you should notice (i know it's not a mystery but it felt a bit like one)
i enjoyed the characters, the friendships, the overall setting, and i definitely ended up being a fan of Cass and Perry
p.s. this is an absolutely gorgeous cover! it defs fits in with the story :)

𝙍𝙚𝙫𝙞𝙚𝙬 💐:
I really liked this authors first book Shipped so I was excited to see that she had another romance novel coming out this year. I finished this in three days, and I am still smiling from the cute storyline.
💓
The story starts out as the heroine, Cass, wakes up from a coma with stinted memories of a relationship with a guy named Devin Bloom. The problem is, he doesn’t seem to exist. This story is a bit crazy but oh so fun, and I couldn’t stop reading. I had a bunch of different hunches as to why Cass had all these past memories with Devin, but I was very far off from the truth!
💓
I didn't know if this plot was going to work at first but I was pleasantly surprised by all the characters and the storyline — it was a very enjoyable romance novel to read!
I really enjoyed this book. I loved Shipped so was excited to see another book by Angie Hockman. Both the premise of the book and the trope are a but unusual and honestly a bit of a stretch to believe. However, the characters were so likable that I bought into the story despite my skepticism. Would definitely recommend!
After Shipped, I knew Angie Hockman was going to be a favorite author of mine. Dream On proves that Hockman can keep us entranced with romance with each new, dynamic story. I loved how Dream On was so different from Shipped, but still had the Angie Hockman flare. I think we have all wondered what we would do if we knew (or thought we knew) how our life would turn out. The things we would or wouldn’t change, the choices we would make in hindsight. This concept keeps the reader engaged as Hockman twirls her magic storytelling wand to mix in romance, humor and self re-discovery.
I was absolutely thrilled with this book! I'm already looking forward to purchasing a physical copy for my shelves.
It's such a breezy, heartfelt, humorous, and lovely read. A theme within this book that I so loved is choice vs. fate. How do we settle what we perceive to be fate when our heart starts to long for another choice?
What I enjoyed about the book isn't the fact you're wondering which guy Cass will end up with--as I don't think the narrative is hiding the answer-- rather it's about how. How will Cass herself realize this? How will the romance develop, if it all?
It's not the who, but the how.
And for me, that made the journey so much more worthwhile as I held my breath and crossed my fingers, expectant and anxious of what was to come. And what's to come takes time! Something I love is a good slow-burn romance, and this book is definitely one of them. It takes it time to build and develop, and I appreciated its pace so much.
Another exciting part of the story was figuring out how Cass remembers a man she has never met. I was theorizing left and right, but the story still managed to surprise me, while still making perfect sense. I always appreciate a twist that comes from build up, and not form a desire to subvert expectations. Once the truth was revealed, all puzzles pieces fit perfectly together.
If there is any hiccup it's the fact the ending felt rather abrupt. As mentioned, I really took well to the slow burn romance and the steady pace in plot, but the ending and epilogue seemed to unwind rather too quickly and I felt it didn't give me a chance to catch up. I wish we had more pages to have slowed that portion of the book down. I still consider this a mere hiccup, as my overall enjoyment of the book wasn't deterred by this change in pace.
I absolutely recommend this book if you're looking for an easy, sweet read that'll warm your heart right up!
Thank you NetGalley and GalleryBooks for allowing me to read Dream On ahead of its release in exchange for an honest review.
You know those breakups that are especially hard to get over, mostly because you never dated the person in the first place? Like when your celebrity crush gets a girlfriend and then you have to pretend you weren't ~actually hoping to get with them, even though you have very vivid daydreams of them showing up to your coffee shop/post office/grocery store and immediately falling in love with you? Dream On is basically that, minus the celebrity part and add in a coma. Lost? Let me explain. Dream On is the story of Cass, a woman who wakes up from a coma only to discover her dream boyfriend is, in fact, a dream. All the romantic dates he took her on to all their favorite spots? Imagined. The flowers he always brings her? Fake. The red scarf he was wearing on their first date? Not real, and makes me wonder if dream boy is actually Jake Gyllenhaal in a mask. After coming to terms with the fact that dream boy Devin isn't going to be showing up anytime soon, Cass tries to move on with her life. Except that's kind of hard to do when, you know, Devin ACTUALLY shows up 10 months later. And has no idea who she is. Cue the drama! Without giving away too much of what happens next, I will say that Dream On pleasantly surprised me. I didn't see a lot of the second half of the book coming, which I loved. Dream On is perfect for fans of lost (and found) love, love triangles, and all the messiness of being a woman in your twenties.
three stars! *:・゚✧ this was honestly a pretty cute and entertaining read! i didn’t really have much interest in picking up ‘shipped’ by angie hockman, but i fell in love with the cover for this book and the synopsis sounded so promising, i just couldn’t pass it up!
this story follows cass walker, a girl who wakes up from a coma with a surplus of memories about a relationship that never was, with a guy she’d never met before. a year after the accident, she’s working on getting her life back in order when she bumps into the man of her literal dreams. this plot had a lot of promise, and it did live up to it in a lot of ways! the whole concept is simply bizarre, but i feel like hockman really executed it in a way that didn’t make it seem so out of place. the story didn’t necessarily go in the direction i was expecting, however, but i still found that i enjoyed it nonetheless.
i really appreciated our main lead, cass. she was such a genuine (and fun) main character, and i simply adored her friendship with brie (and brie’s relationship with marcus!) i also really liked the writing, so i’m tempted to finally try ‘shipped’ now! there was a lot of fun elements in this book, and i’m definitely glad i picked it up! the cover is absolutely gorgeous, and i will definitely be purchasing a copy when it’s released to have on my shelves!
Waking from a coma looking for your boyfriend only to be told he doesn't exist. Sounds like every couples nightmare to know you have a loved one but they aren't there. Angie Hackman brings an enjoyable rom com once again to the literary world with "Dream On" and it was a pleasant surprise. I basically live and breathe romcoms, so finding a book that is so reminiscent of my favorite "While You Were Sleeping" is quite enjoyable. The dynamics of the characters are great and the story will make you smile with all its sweet moments. I definitely recommend this for any romance lover.
*Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.**
What if you woke up from a coma & wanted to see your boyfriend - only you didn’t actually have one, but you have memories of a guy you’ve never met but know intimately? But then, one year later - you meet him & his equally handsome brother. What happens next? Dream On follows Cass in her journey to discover more about herself, her loves and making the right decision for her life. While I enjoyed this book, there was a brief sex scene towards the very end of the book that felt oddly placed as the rest of the book was closed door. Overall the characters were likeable & the story was interesting, I just felt it was missing that amazing wow or swoon worthy moments for me to really love it. However I think it was a solid 3.5 stars in my book.
Thank you NetGalley for the advanced copy of this book. I loved Angie Hockmans first book and I was so excited for this book.
What worked for me:
The floral shop was charming and absolute perfection. The friendship was so amazing and I love when they support and show up for each other. Also, the male MC made the book. Literally he was five stars. I adored him and honestly, wanted better for him.
What didn’t work:
Cass was not for me. I found her kind of whiny and annoying. She was also back and forth the whole book. I don’t want to diminish that trauma, but the plot choices where terrible. I was confused halfway through the book. I guessed the twists early on but it took so long to get there. I loved the end directions but we spent so long on the first that it wasn’t developed well. I ended frustrated. I missed the fantastic banter and chemistry we got in Shipped.
