Law student Cass Walker has just woken up from a coma after a bad wreck. She was dreaming about her boyfriend Devin while in the coma, so she's ready to see his face again. The only problem is that Devin isn't real, she doesn't have a boyfriend. One day, by chance Cass goes to get some flowers and is flooded with memories of Devin when she actually sees that he is a very real person who's helping his brother in the flower shop while also trying to prove to his father that he can take over the business. Cass and Devin start dating and everything is going pretty well, even if it feels like she might have more in common with his super cute older brother Perry. Will Cass choose her heart or her head?
This was a really cute story, I liked getting to know Cass and her awesome best friend Brie. I figured out the plot twists pretty early in the story but that's okay because that's how I was hoping the story would go anyway. I was very happy with how it ended and everyone got their happily ever after, one couldn't ask for more than that. I can't wait to read more from Angie Hockman. Thank you so much for the book from Angie Hockman and Netgalley.
This was a delightful read! Cass was a charming heroine, and I really admired her ambition, creativity, and heart. Perry was a perfect book boyfriend.
Last summer, I really enjoyed reading SHIPPED, so I was looking forward to Angie Hockman's next book. DREAM ON follows Cass, who wakes up after a car crash with vivid memories of her boyfriend Devin … who doesn’t exist. Except one year later, she meets the real Devin! Shockingly, he believes her story — but despite working towards her dream job, with her dream man by her side, nothing feels quite right. And Devin’s brother is a big part of that confusion.
I liked this book, but I didn’t love it. The premise was whacky but the author makes it work believably. I adored the dynamic between Cass and Devin’s brother, Perry. But something about the book just didn’t quite hook me in. There was nothing obviously wrong with it; it just wasn't a great book FOR ME personally. I enjoyed it well enough, but it didn’t leave a lasting impression.
Very cutesy book a la Hallmark movies! I liked the characters and the message that sometimes your "fate' isn't exactly what you first thought it would be, but execution was meh. The book also lacked some of the best parts of a romcom, at least in my opinion. I also guessed what one of the big twists was.
Some people believe that fate will lead them to the love of their life—that the universe will send them an unmistakable message that someone is just meant to be. In the breezy rom-com Dream On by author Angie Hockman, one woman dreams up the perfect man—and fate leads her right to him.

I really liked this unique, fresh and original story. I could not imagine waking up from a coma to find out the man you have been dreaming about is not your boyfriend and he has never existed in your life, but he is 100% real. The story had a mix of romance and mystery so I would recommend it to someone who likes a good Hallmark mystery. Light and easy.
I want to thank NetGalley, Angie Hockman and Gallery Books for the e-ARC of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are honest, my own and left voluntarily.
Awesome book! I felt it lacking at times, hence the 4 star, but otherwise pretty good storyline, characters, and writing.
What would you do if your dream man turned out to be real?
Law student, Cass Walker, survives a horrific car accident- waking up from a coma with memories of her boyfriend Devin. The only problem? No one else in her life has ever heard of him and she can’t find any evidence he’s a real person. She spends the next year working to get her life back on track. Cass is completely shocked when she stumbles into the real life Devin in a flower shop… Even more surprising, Devin seems to believe her and the two start a real life romance.
This one is sweet and romantic and a little bit unexpected. I enjoyed the characters and was rooting for Cass! Unfortunately, it felt a little long and almost boring. Plus there were a few “twists” that made me roll my eyes and left a sour taste in my mouth.
Dream On was very tame on the romance and spice factor… and them BOOM explicit for the very last chapter. While I have nothing against spice, it didn’t fit the tone of the rest of the book at all.
Three stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for my ARC. Dream On is available now!
I loved the premise of this so much and it’s really well done, fate or choice…it’s hard to say. Cass wakes up from a coma remembering a boyfriend that never existed. But he’s not just a dream and then they meet each other !!! The rest is for you to read and find out …. My only criticism is I do wish the romance had been a bit sooner, because the bits we got were so good I wanted more of them. If you love a love triangle and a bit of mystery thrown in, this is for you.
Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for a free copy for an honest opinion
I absolutely could not put this book down. Originally the premise caught my attention as it reminded me of an early 2000’s rom-com, but this story was so much better. I do wish we could have seen certain relationships develop a little more as there are a few multi-week time jumps, but I don’t think it detracted from the plot too much. The characters were sweet and the plot twists were quite suspenseful, especially for a sweet romance like this one.
I really wanted to absolutely love Angie Hockman's new novel being that I adored Shipped.
Unfortunately, I did not find myself rooting for this couple and to be honest did not enjoy at all what felt like a forced love triangle at points.
Loved the heroine and rooted for her and her big hopes for the perfect man and huge love story we all want, but truly did not care for the "dream man", finding him rude at times.
This book leaves a huge plot point out of the synopsis, which I think is very misleading. However, if I had known ahead of time I definitely wouldn’t have picked up the book, as it was when I realized the direction I nearly put it down - however, I ended up really enjoying this book so it all ended well. The writing here is very strong and the concept of a woman having specific memories of a man she never met when awaking from a coma is definitely unique and intriguing.
Spoiler
This book does have a love triangle with brothers, a trope that I passionately loathe. I will say, if it is possible to be done well the author did it here. There wasn’t cheating, it was explained well, and while I still felt gross it was as well done as possible. I ended up really enjoying this book *despite* this and not because of it.
Such a good book!! Angie Hockman did a great job on this one! She’ll take you through a rollercoaster of emotions with unexpected turns. She gives you the cute feels and cute moments with Cass. She’ll have you swooning over the brothers and how great one of the brothers treats Cass and shows how much he cares for her.
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for an advanced review copy of “Dream On” by Angie Hockman. Thoughts and opinions are my own.
I so wanted to like this book. A romance set in Cleveland was such an exciting idea as I’m familiar with the city. Unfortunately the setting was the best part of the story.
Triggers for miscarriage, car accident.
The story goes that lawyer Cass gets into a car accident and wakes up asking for a boyfriend that doesn’t exist except in her memories. When he doesn’t appear, Cass has to accept that he’s not real until she meets him in a flower shop.
The premise was interesting and made me hope for something like “Remember Me?” by Sophie Kinsella. But the way Cass’s dream guy, Devin, so readily accepts Cass’s story even though he does not remember her made no sense. She really comes off like an unsettling stalker and he just rolls with it. I found the mystery of why Cass remembered Devin and what actually happened made me want to continue the story. The suspicious way Devin acted made me think he knew more than he was letting on. His brother, Perry’s, suspicions and wariness made much more sense.
I did not enjoy the love triangle between two brothers. I wish they had just been friends or roommates or something other than brothers. The story goes back and forth about who you could root for. It seemed an odd choice but Devin made me actively root against him when he threw his “crazy ex” under the bus. If a guy is telling you about his “crazy ex” you’re getting a glimpse into your future when he’s telling the girl after you about how you’re the crazy ex. Devin’s actions towards his ex are particularly heinous and then SPOILER ALERT they end up back together??? It made me want to throw the book across the room (though thankfully this was an eARC so I didn’t actually throw my phone.)
There is a lot of catty girl hate with Cass and her coworker Mercedes. Can we not perpetuate women hating on each other that way?
Overall the setting was the best part and I could tell the author was familiar with the city. The mystery kept me reading but not much made sense with how people accepted Cass’s stalker behavior. I learned I am not a fan of love triangles with brothers. And most egregious, Devin’s behavior towards his ex was unforgivable.
2/5 stars
I loved this! It was such a unique story with a classic rom com feel. Funny, heartfelt, well written and romantic. Cass is a strong female lead who learns to trust her gut which was fantastic. All of thr characters in this book are written so well and all feel so real and not forced. A lovely world and fresh plot make this a must read rom com.
I loved the premise of this novel. However, I found the dream boyfriend to be a jerk and I never liked the forced love triangle, especially since there isn’t much relationship development between Cass and Perry. All in all, an okay read.
I loved Angie Hockman’s last book Shipped so I knew I had to read this. After law grad Cass Walker has a car accident that puts
her in a coma she wakes up with dreams & thoughts of a boyfriend, Devin, that doesn’t really exist. Family, friends & Doctor’s chalk it up to side effects from her head injury until the day she walks in to Blooms and Baubles flower shop and sees Devin really DOES exist. Has fate lead her to her dream man or does fate have other plans for her?
What I loved:
•The unique plot that had me instantly hooked.
•Fast paced and I never got bored (I was too desperate for answers) 😂
•I could not put this down. I really needed to know how she knew so many details about Devin without ever meeting him. I was pleased that it was a believable enough scenario once it unfolded.
•The friendship dynamic between Cass and Brie was SO GREAT!
•Perry, Devin’s brother, was so sweet and caring and I loved all the things he did for Cass that spoke to her soul.
•The plot twist: I had it figured out, but it still kept me interested on how it would unfold. See more about that below in my What I didn’t love section.
•I’m usually not a fan of love triangles, but this one was handled well enough that it wasn’t an issue.
What I didn’t love:
•I felt the topic of the plot twist was insensitive and mishandled. It was glossed over too quickly for the sake of a HEA.
•I wasn’t a fan of Devin from the start. He seemed very insensitive to his brother, Cass and even his so called friends. I didn’t like his personality or how he handled his past, yet everyone treated him like he was the greatest guy.
Otherwise, I enjoyed everything else about this book and it was super engaging. I finished it in one day. I definitely recommend it since it has such a unique plot unlike so many other books I’ve read. It’s a nice spin on the usual Amnesia trope. Thank you @netgalley and @gallerybooks for this #ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
While i loved Shipped, Dream On fell a little flat. I still enjoyed it. Would still recommend it. It just didn’t live up to the debut novel from Angie Hockman. As a fellow NE Ohio resident, I absolutely loved all of the Cleveland locations and references.
Originally didn’t give feedback because I DNF, but it’s hurting my feedback ratio, so I’m going to review it. I loved the authors previous book, but the amnesia part of this book I found is not a trope for me, so this book solidified that. I also didn’t really like that I could see that there would be a sort of love triangle in it. I also never rate books I DNF but this makes me.
I really liked this book! The concept was so unique and interesting and I really loved all the characters (especially Perry and Brie!). I loved all the flower talk and seeing Cass grow throughout the book. I definitely knew pretty early on what would happen and how things would play out, but I didn’t mind that it was somewhat predictable. It was cute and fun and a quick read!
