Great premise and story. Very interesting and loved all about it. It had me hooked from the first chapter. I was so drawn in and loved it.
Thanks to Netgalley and Gallery Books for the ARC of this!
Absolutely adorable, I loved the premise from the beginning. The execution was so good, and I loved all the characters. There was some tropeiness, but nothing too over the top, and it was fun to read all the way through. I loved the ending, because while it wrapped things up nicely, it didn’t rush them. Definitely recommend if you’re needing a fun rom-com for summer!
The premise of this was so interesting and it was done beautifully! I loved this story so much, it was full of sweet moments and twists that had the best surprises.
Thank you #Netgalley for an early read of #DreamOn
This book was fantastic! I loved how we met Cass, waking up from a coma after a car accident. In addition I loved how we met her love interest.
This book has everything, it’s got romance and a bit of a mystery, lots of fun and a few laughs along the way. I could not put this book down from the moment I picked it up.
Thank you NetGalley for a copy of this book. This is my honest voluntary review of this book.
Thank you to NetGalley and Gallery Books for the ARC of this novel. This was not my cup of tea. The synopsis seemed intriguing for somehow remembering your dream guy before you ever met them but the execution was just not for me. Cass was interesting and did make a wonderful grand gesture at the end but I was meh about it overall. Yes Cass figured out what she really wanted all along but the way she got there... eh. Devin and Sadie was a good subplot so I did like that. I am thinking this author's style is just not for me. 2 stars.
I absolutely adored Shipped, but unfortunately struggled with this one. It took me much longer than it typically takes to read. I liked the premise enough to finish it and because I did have an attachment to the characters enough to want to know how everything turned out. It honestly might’ve just been my mindset and I wasn’t in the right headspace to read this book.
The plot was definitely unique and I enjoyed going along for the ride of following our main girl as she figured her life out after being in a coma. The men in these books were so sweet and fun to read about and I loved the flower shop aspect of it a ton!
Overall, I just didn’t connect with this story. I did enjoy the plot and characters enough to finish and want to find out how it ended but it just wasn’t a favorite.

Rating 3.25/5⭐️
This is my second Angie Hockman book that I have read. I always really like the plot of the book, but I just never find myself loving the book. As the story went on I just kept thinking to myself that this isn’t how I expected the book to go. I just don’t think this trope (that I didn’t expect to be in the book) is for me.
I thought the ending of the book was really sweet and I loved that Cass really grew as a character and did what was best for her. I think maybe if the description of the book was a little different it would have prepared me for this specific trope and maybe I would have liked it more.
I really, really enjoyed Shipped last year, but Dream On had me mostly feeling “meh” about it. The concept behind the plot is unique (woman wakes up after surviving a car accident to memories of a boyfriend she never had— then she runs into that person IRL a year later and starts a relationship) I was intrigued enough during this story to keep going and figure out the brothers’ motives for behaviors were and I liked that our main character really sticks it to a bad person again— this same thing happens in Shipped and I loved it there. I was just a little bored and put off with the telling and not showing and the repeated mentioning of brand names annoyed me. This was a mostly closed door romance with a tiny bit of steam at the end which worked fine for me. Overall I just didn’t find myself super invested in this story and it’s characters and the story won’t stay with me for long.
This book was witty and had a great premise.
In general I hate love triangles but this one worked.
Loved the ending!
I really liked this book. Angie Hockman is a great writer and a strong storyteller. The premise is fun and the characters are interesting. Cass is a strong female lead and I enjoyed following her relationships with her best friend, Brie, her "dream man" Devin and especially Perry.
The spark between Cass and Perry when they first meet is palpable and I sighed at the secretive moments of touching knees under the table or grazing hands while watching the fireworks. What I didn't love was the love triangle between brothers. Then, when Cass and Perry finally kiss and tell Devin, Devin is low key cool with it? Kind of anticlimactic. However, overall, this was a fast, fun, cute read.
I'd also like to add that I loved the outfit reference- Emily in Paris meets Love & Basketball. Ha! AND! That cover! SO CUTE! Giving me In The Weeds vibes!
Super cute and fun. I was so glad Cass ended up with who she did and loved the way it ended.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest review
I loved this book and how it features a strong bond between brothers. Also, Cassidy's relationship with her best friend and how close they are and how they're always there for each other. I also loved the romance and how Cassidy pushed for her dreams which didn't include only law but her love of painting as well. I also enjoyed perry and his love for flowers and what they meant for him. The whole plot with her being in a coma and finding the man that was in her dreams was really unique and I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
KRISTIN AND VAL ARE BOTH MAJOR FANS OF ANGIE HOCKMAN. VAL IS EVEN A PROUD MEMBER OF HOCKMAN’S STREET TEAM! A NATURAL FIT FOR VAL, AND A GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO SPREAD THE LOVE FOR HOCKMAN’S BOOKS. NATURALLY, K AND V HAD TO DO A BUDDY-READ OF HER NEWEST ROMANCE, DREAM ON. HERE’S ALL THE BUZZ…
KRISTIN, TELL US YOUR INITIAL THOUGHTS ABOUT DREAM ON
Kristin
Dream on by Angie Hockman was such a delightful read! It was full of those swoony moments between two people that are so smitten with each other, that readers will squeal. I had Dream on in my TBR pile as soon as I heard Angie Hockman was writing another book. Honestly, I loved her debut book “Shipped” so much that I didn’t care what Dream on would be about, I knew it would be gold. Going into this without reading the synopsis was so much fun and it’s partly why I was hooked right after the first chapter.
VAL, HOW DID YOU FEEL WHEN CASS MET HER COMA-BOYFRIEND IN REAL LIFE?
Val
The romantic in me *swooned*. The skeptic Jersey girl in me thought, “Okay, what gives?! This can’t be happening!” If this happened to me IRL I’d like to think I’d go with it, arms and heart wide open, and dive in head first. However, my brain would probably go into overdrive and do a remote override of my nervous system, filling me with anxiety and overthinking and I’d short circuit. I loved living vicariously through Cass, though!
WHY WILL ROMANCE READERS LOVE THIS BOOK?
The Cute Moments. There are some really unassuming cute moments in this book that will make you sigh with an “aww”.
The possibility! Cass wakes up with memories of a boyfriend that no one knows, and then she finds him! The possibility that Cass and Devin’s relationship could be fate, destiny, or something entirely magical made me flip page after page desperate for the answer.
The Grand Gesture. All of my favorite rom-coms have that grand gesture – you know, the scenes that make you grin from ear to ear, or those scenes that make your cheeks rosy red and you can feel the heat coming from your face. The grand gesture in this book seemingly ties everything together, making the end worth the wait.
Dream On gives off vibes from some of the best romance movies from the 90’s! (While You Were Sleeping being one of my personal favorites.)
There’s more than just romantic love in this story. Cass has a wonderful bond with her best friend. Devin and his brother have a more complicated but true sibling love. These relationships can be both relatable and enviable at times.
The small gestures! There are such minor moments in this book while their relationship is building that show he truly sees her. He eases her life without her even asking. It’s beautiful.
Kristin, if you were going to be dropped into your favorite rom-com movie, which would it be? Who would you choose to play you if you were a character in a rom-com? Flowers play a big role in this novel. What would your ideal bouquet consist of?
Actually, I’d go into Sandra Bullock’s roll in “Hope Floats”. My favorite romance movie of all-time. Check it out if you haven’t seen it! Funny enough, I’d choose Sandra to play me too. haha! I just adore her.
My personal bouquet would be much like my wedding bouquet. Red dahlias, red roses, red ranunculus, and black cala lilies. Although this book has me thinking I should add eucalyptus too. 😉
VAL’S FINAL THOUGHTS
I’d love to be dropped into You’ve Got Mail. It’s my favorite. Tom Hanks made me feel seen when he said, “Don’t you love New York in the fall? It makes me wanna buy school supplies. I would send you a bouquet of newly sharpened pencils if I knew your name and address.” That, to me, is the epitome of romance. Seems like one of the characters in “Dream On” is on that level, too. Can’t wait for readers to find out. My favorite bouquet would include yellow roses, sunflowers, baby’s breath, and eucalyptus. Or Pencils. ❤
“Dream On” was written in such a way to allow me to ‘view’ the chapters as scenes from a movie, which is a real testament to Angie Hockman’s talent. Each scene makes my imagination spark with excitement about how it would look on a big screen. Romance readers, this one is for us.
Dream On by Angie Hockman is a charming novel that feels like multiple romance stories in one. Main character Cass is in love with a man she's only dreamed about. Soon, she's dating the real version of him before eventually realizing there's another man who's her true Mr. Right. I guessed at the ways the book would end, but Hockman proved my guesses wrong in a few unexpected ways. Overall, it was a good second novel from a contemporary romance author worth following. As a bonus, I enjoyed the Ohio setting since it's my own home state!
You’ll start this book and think, “what the …?” and THEN you’ll get sucked into it! I really enjoyed this unique story and the journey that Cass takes. I liked Devin at first but then he just became a giant flake and I was so so happy with how it all turned out! I feel like I can’t give my feelings too much without giving it away though haha! Great book!
What a great premise! Coma patient Cass comes out of a coma after a serious car accident. She look around and doesn’t see her boyfriend Devin. Unfortunately, her friends and family tell her that Devin was a figment of her coma dreams.
A year later, she meets the real Devin, who runs a flower shop with his brother. Now what!? She tells him about her coma experience, and they start dating. Something doesn’t feel quite right, though, and Cass needs to find out why. I really liked how this story played out, 4 stars
Synopsis:
What would you do if your dream man turned out to be real?
When law student Cass Walker wakes up after surviving a car accident, she is flooded with memories of her boyfriend, Devin. The only problem? Devin doesn’t exist. But everything she remembers about him feels so real, like the precise shade of his coffee-brown eyes; the texture of his favorite hand-me-down scarf; even the slightly crooked angle of his pinkie, broken after falling off a trampoline in third grade. She knows he’s a figment of her imagination—friends, family, and doctors confirm it—but she still can’t seem to get him out of her head.
So when she runs into the real Devin a year later in a Cleveland flower shop, she’s completely shocked. Even more surprising is that Devin actually believes her story, and soon they embark on a real-life romance. With her dream man by her side and an upcoming summer job at a prestigious law firm, Cass’s future seems perfect. But fate might have other plans...
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
First off I enjoyed the book Shipped by Angie, so this was one of my most anticipated reads of 2022.
I loved the twist on Cass’s amnesia she wakes up from a coma after an accident and believes she has had a boyfriend but nobody in her life has heard of him. However, Cass remembers such details about this boyfriend and their life together it doesn't make sense until she finally runs into him.
I loved how the whole plot developed and where the story ended. There was so much heart, hope, and love throughout this story. I truly enjoyed the characters and setting.
This is such a perfect summer romance to read by the pool!
Thank-you NetGalley and Publisher for the chance to review this ARC.
I loved Shipped so I was going to this with high hopes!
& this was better than I could have expected!
Such a fun fresh romance novel!
I loved every bit of it.
I was a huge fan of Shipped, so I was of course excited to read Dream On. I thought the premise was promising, and I was excited to dive in to this!! Unfortunately, it did not work out for me. I never felt really connected to Devin and Cass, which I know was the point. But then, I never felt a true connection to Cass and Perry. Their relationship never felt fully flushed out to me, which unfortunately brought this down to a 3 star read for me. The spark was missing, & it was slow moving at points.
I was not super invested in the romance part, but I was intrigued to figure out exactly how the author is going to work everything out. It was pretty obvious who the end game love interest was but the book spent more time focusing on the other love interest which is always a bit of a bummer to me. If you read this one, know it is more about how it all will unfold and less about a great romance.
