Absolutely loved this book! It was such a sweet read - I couldn’t put it down. The plot twists had me SHOOK!! & I love a good HEA!! Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with this ARC in exchange for my honest review!
When Cass wakes up from a week long coma she knows the first person she wants to see is her boyfriend, but not only is he not there he never even existed. One year later Cass has her first day at her new job as a summer associate at a top law firm she walks into a flower shop to look up and see none other than her boyfriend from her coma 😳
Talk about some twists and turns in this one! I really did enjoy so much of it. This is a sweet easy read! It’s low on spice with only one mild open door scene so if you like that then this is the one for you!
This book was SO cute! Class gets in a car accident and wakes up from a coma asking for her boyfriend, only to realize he only existed in her dreams. Then she meets him in real life. she gets her dream job and everything seems perfect, but maybe she doesn’t want perfection. I thought Cass was a cute character and I really enjoyed reading her innermost thoughts about what she really wants out of life. A lot of times we grow up hearing what we want and then when it becomes reality, it’s not all it’s cracked up to be and I feel that’s a realistic view of life. The ah-ha moment at the end is brilliant and overall this book gave me great feel good feelings.
I can’t say much in this book other than I tried to get into it, but couldn’t. I tried reading this authors previous book, and I couldn’t get into that one either. I don’t think I’ll pick up another book from this author.
Such a unique plot!! I was totally hooked and enjoyed it all. Sweet book, but it definitely could have used just a bit of spice! I really liked the writing and I'm looking forward to more of her books!
Thank you NetGalley and Angie Hockman!
Devin. That’s what Cass remembers when she wakes up from her coma. Only problem? Nobody else knows anything about this Devin. It seems Cass conjured him in her coma. Until one day she is at the local flower shop and runs into who other than the Devin from her dreams. While his brother Perry is skeptical, Devin is willing to hear her out even though he has never seen her before in his life. Will it lead to a true connection?
Oh man I went through all the emotions reading this one. I was definitely infuriated by a few people several times throughout the book. Would definitely have punched one or several people if they were in front of me! I love a story that has a little bit of the unknown in it. A blip in your life that causes memories you have no reason to have. This one was a quick read and super cute!
I loved Angie Hockman's first novel, Shipped, and her second novel Dream On was another delight! I thought it was a refreshing, unique premise with Cass waking up from a coma with memories of her boyfriend, Devin. She quickly learns she never dated him even though she has all these memories of their relationship. Cass meets Devin a year later at his brother Perry's flower shop. Cass and Devin see if they can figure out why she woke up with memories of him. I appreciate how the author portrayed brain injuries since I work with many people with brain injuries. I also enjoyed the Cleveland, Ohio, setting. I've been to Cleveland about six times now, and I love that city and Ohio.
The narrator did a great job. I would highly recommend the audiobook version!
Thank you, Simon & Schuster Audio and Gallery Books, for my gifted copies.
This one sucked me in on the first page, and I ended up reading it in one sitting. Cass was in a coma and wakes up with memories of a boyfriend, Devin, that doesn't exist - except turns out he does, and he's never met her. Like how can you not be hooked based on that?! Cass was really struggling at the start of the book, and I really loved that we got to see her journey to find herself in addition to the romance plot. I don't want to spoil anything, so I'll just say I loved how this romance played out! If you're looking for something sweet with a bit of mystery, I definitely recommend this one!
If you are looking for a good, sweet romance without the graphic steamy scenes- you will love this one! It has a Hallmark channel vibe! A law student wakes up from a coma with memories of a life with her dream guy. His band is Devin and she doesn’t know him. She convinces herself that it was just something her brain dreamed up until she bumps into him in a flower shop a year later. Thank you NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for a review. #DreamOn #netgalley
I wasn’t really sure what to expect going into this but the premise sounded intriguing. It is a romance but also has more of a womens fiction as well. There were several twists and turns in the story but overall it’s a sweet read about a women really trying to figure out what she wants in life.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for this ARC.
I have to confess that it was the gorgeous cover that first drew me to Angie Hockman’s new contemporary romance novel, Dream On. That said, the story itself is just as sweet and beautiful as that cover.
Dream On follows Cass Walker, a young woman who gets into an accident the day she passes the bar exam and winds up in a coma for nearly a week. When the story opens, Cass is just waking up, surrounded by her family and her best friend, but all she wants to know is why isn’t her boyfriend Devin there. Cass’ loved ones are confused because to their knowledge, Cass does not have a boyfriend. No one knows who Devin is and once Cass is out of the hospital, she realizes she doesn’t have any photos, contact information, or anything that pertains to Devin. All she has are these vivid memories of dating him for the past three months. It’s as if she dreamed him up. Nearly a year later, Cass finally runs into the real Devin and it begins a life changing journey for her.
I loved this unique storyline and found myself very invested with Cass’ journey to figure out how she has all these memories of Devin, especially since he has no idea who she is either. Was it purely a figment of her imagination or did she really meet him at some point? I also loved how brave Cass was the day she encounters him because she flat out tells him what she is experiencing and that she would like his assistance in helping her work through how she could possibly know so much about him. I don’t know if I would have had the guts to do that since he could have easily written her off as crazy. I also had a soft spot for Devin right away since he was game to help her, even as his overprotective brother, Perry, was desperately trying to get rid of Cass since he did think she was a crazy stalker. I wasn’t crazy about Perry at first just because he was so quick to judge Cass, but he did grow on me quickly since it was clear how much he cared about his brother.
It was fun watching Cass get to know both brothers and I enjoyed the twists and turns of the story, especially as it became clear that Cass and Perry were developing feelings for one another. I’m not usually big on love triangles but I have to admit that I was very interested in seeing if she would ultimately reject her mysterious connection to Devin in favor of Perry, or if she would choose neither brother and instead focus on getting her life and career back on track. No spoilers from me but I will say that I was very satisfied with the ending.
If you’re in the mood for a sweet romance about literally finding the man of your dreams, you’ll definitely want to check out Dream On.
Dream On by Angie Hockman
Did you read Shipped last year?
I did and loved it, so I was really excited to pick up her newest novel, Dream On!
It did not disappoint! I thought the premise was creative and original. I kept asking myself, how DOES Cass have these memories from her coma of Devin without ever meeting him in person?!
It was clear to me what the two biggest twists were going to be pretty early on, but I still enjoyed the way it all played out. I kept right on turning the pages (or tapping the screen in this case!) and loved every minute of it.
I recommend picking this one up if you are a romance reader! 😍
Thank you to @gallerybooks and @netgalley for the arc in exchange for my review! 💜
3.75⭐
Can you dream someone into real life?
Normally, the answer would sadly be an emphatic no! But when Cass wakes from a coma following a severe car crash her first thought are of Devin, her boyfriend. But he’s not there.
When she asks her family and best friend where Devin is they all look at her with raised eyebrows. She’s obviously suffering severe effects of the coma. Must be…because there is no Devon. He doesn’t exist.
Well, let’s just re-think that assumption. Cass just stopped into a local flower shop and comes face to face with the man from her dreams!
But is this real life Devin the same man she felt she knew?
This was a sweet romance that clicked most of the boxes you’re looking for when picking up a rom-com.
And isn’t the cover gorgeous 🤩
Thank you to NetGalley and Gallery Books.
This was OK.
A huge thank you to NetGalley and Gallery Books for my advanced copy of Dream On.
I'm going to keep this review short.
I loved Angie Hockman's previous book. I had high expectations for Dream On.
In the end it was what I call a middle of the road read.
It was good but not as good as I hoped it would be.
I still recommend it and I don't regret reading it.
I look forward to picking up whatever Angie Hockman decides to publish next.
Angie's romcoms are so easy to devour. I adored Shipped and Dream On is a great sophomore novel. It missed just a bit of the magic from Shipped, but I enjoyed it all the same through the fun cast and concept.
Cass wakes up from an accident induced coma, fully expecting to see her boyfriend, Devin, at her side and relieved at her recovery. Not one family member or friend knows this man and the doctors tell her that her imagination has conjured him up due to her injury. A year later, the man of her dreams shows up at a random stop in a flower shop and Cass is elated and stunned to find that he is real.
Fairly early on, I rooted for a particular ending and I'm so happy that it came about. One of the things that I didn't love was the unnecessary steam in the epilogue as if it was an afterthought and didn't push the story forward at all. Otherwise, I loved how Angie handled Cass's emotional turmoil and the push and pull between fate and choice.
Thank you to Gallery books and Netgalley for the advanced copy. All thoughts in this review are my own.
Cassidy walker takes the bar exam and then gets into a terrible car accident that leaves her in a six-day coma. Once she wakes up, she has all these memories of her boyfriend Devin. Though as it turns out, Cassidy is single and has never dated anyone named Devin. Fast forward one year later, still struggling with her short-term memory loss and vivid memories with Devin, Cassidy leaves her first day of work at a big-time law firm and decides to treat herself to flowers. That’s when she runs into the real Devin and his brother Perry at a local flower shop. Cassidy will now have to sort through her memories and present-day life to discover if Devin is truly the man of her dreams.
This book is amazing. I loved the coma/man of my dreams story line. It hooks you right from the beginning! The pinball date with Perry crashing and the bouquet arrangement “class” with Perry were my absolute favorite scenes. Angie Hockman does such a great job at really putting the scenes in your mind. I felt like I was at the festival toward the end too! I will say some people may find the saving a failing business with a festival while falling in love to be cheesy/Hallmark movie vibes, but it’s written so well I didn’t feel that way at all! I can’t wait to pick up a copy for my shelves. 10/10 recommend!
Thank you Gallery Books for may advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.
I didn't know what to expect when reading this. She wakes up from a coma with a memory with a boyfriend no one knows. No pictures no phone nu.ber nothing. But the memories she has and how she can recollect his face. He has to be real right?
Fast forward she's moving into a new place with her best friend and starting a summer program at a law firm she should of started around her accident. Once she has a good day at work she stops at a flower shop and ends up seeing the guy she remembers all those months ago. He's real but how did she know him and there relationship in such detail but not knowing him.
This story was heartfelt and funny.
Is he the man of not only her dreams but in real life?
Thank you NetGalley for this e-arc in exchange for my honest review.
This was such a great read!
I fully suspected to love this book, as I loved the debut from this author. Dare I say I loved it even more than her first? Gah!
First, I loved the setting. Not many books that I read are set in Cleveland. It was new and neat to me. The characters? Yes, please, and more. Cass is a recent law school graduate who is sidelined for a year due to a car accident as she drove home from taking the state bar exam. She wakes up in the hospital and wonders where her boyfriend is, why hasn't he come to see her?
Well, her Mom and her best friend have never even heard of this man. Has she made him up? A year passes, she is over him, and starting a new summer job when lo and behold, she MEETS HIM! Gah.
Now, I read a lot, and I knew exactly where this book was going as soon as she walked in Blooms & Baubles, but I still cherished every single page as I watched the characters get to where they were meant to be.
Dear Angie Hockman, I hope you don't see this review because I hope you are spending all of your time writing more for me to read and love.
4.9 solid stars.
Thank you to NetGalley and Gallery Books for this ARC. All opinions are my own.
I believe that dreams are important and at the center of this book is a dream that felt so real... I loved the symbolism and then finding the real life Devin. It seems crazy, but I could totally see this happening - and not just on the Hallmark channel! I love the small details Angie Hockman adds - it makes her characters so much deeper and makes me fall much more in love with them... I find myself emotionally involved in these characters!
Dream On had me hooked from page one. I flew through it one day on vacation. I really loved it. HOWEVER, I’m struggling to write this review without giving away a major plot point. So here’s what I’ll say:
💜If you love 90’s rom coms, read this one.
💜If you love smart FMCs who aren’t afraid to put themselves first snd actually have a backbone, read this one.
💜If you love a well-written romance novel, read this one.
💜If you’re willing to get a book hangover in the name of reading a great story, read this one.
Also, once you read it, go back and look at the cover again. It’s super clever!!
