It has been a whiiiile so I did forget most of what happened in the previous chapters - I was able to keep going through context at least, and through the heroine's inner monologues, overthinking everything. I really enjoyed volume 1 though, so I'm glad I got the opportunity to read this one too.
It was weird seeing the main characters as kids for so long (especially since Mystia isn't really a child Inside?) but Finally in the last part of this volume she turned 15! (which isn't a lot but at least it's a bit better). This one also introduces another love interest, and proves they're all crazy. Mystia is trying to get them with the actual game's heroine (Alice) but of course they're completely obsessed with her instead - it's almost funny how she's just so desperate to get rid of them but can't push them away without being super mean and dooming herself.
This time we also see Alice, the heroine, for real, and she's so cute! I wouldn't mind if she became interested in Mystia too, tbh. Would make everything even better. I really enjoyed this volume as well, and can't wait to read more.
Thank you to Tokyopop and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review!
I Was Reincarnated as the Villainess in an Otome Game but the Boys Love Me Anyway!, Volume 2 by Ataka and Sou Inaida is the second book in the romance game fantasy series. The story revolves around Mystia, who wakes up in an otome game. But instead of the heroine, she's the villainess! The heroine is supposed to get the guy at the end, and the villainess is supposed to die. Will Mystia be able to change the game's unhappy ending?
Overall, I Was Reincarnated as the Villainess in an Otome Game but the Boys Love Me Anyway!, Volume 2 is an adorable and funny manga that will appeal to fans of the romance and fantasy genres. One highlight of this book is the story. It's really original to have the book's main character be the villainess of the romance game. I was really interested in the story because of that. If I had to complain about 1 thing, I would say that 2 out of the 3 main male characters are drawn in a 'young" style, which felt weird to me. If you're intrigued by the description, or if you're a fan of romance manga in general, I highly recommend that you check out this book when it comes out in March!
Thank you to TOKYOPOP and LOVE x LOVE for the opportunity to review this ARC
I Was Reincarnated as the Villainess in an Otome Game but the Boys Love Me Anyway! Volume 2
by Sou Inaida is a fun and exciting read!
Mysteria is coming up with a different solution on how to avoid her fatal ending, but by doing so she involves a new character that has an even more turmoil route than the prince. And then the story finally takes us to her 16th year where the game begins. *bites nails!
This was an exciting read! I really enjoy the switching POV between Mysteria and the love interests. I was giggling as the newcomer for sure was getting the wrong idea and fell in love with Mysteria. He's my ship by the way!
The thing I like the best about Mysteria is that she's aware that the storylines for the male characters are changing and while she wants to prevent her fatal ending, she recognises that the characters have to stay the same or else they won't follow the path towards the heroine (and then she has no idea how to prevent the fatal ending!)
I can see how she will drive herself dizzy while preventing the bad storylines and still try to fix the ”bugs” in the game.
I look forward to the next volume!
I don't remember everyone being quite so obsessive/stalker in the first volume. I'm going to need a character to step up and be a romantic hero soon. (I have my hopes for one.)
Harem I enjoy, obsessed mob, not so much.
This trope is still my jam though, so I am looking forward to more from this series in the future. As always, the art is lovely.
Absolutely delightful!!!
I've had this on preorder since I finished the first volume, but reading an early copy makes me all the more excited for my personal copy to arrive!
I continue to love Mystia's character and just how kind she is. She really thinks far ahead on how the changed storyline will not only affect her, but the people around her. It's what I really liked about her character in the first one and something I continue to enjoy about her character. Even as a ten-year-old she is amazing!
Raid continues to be the one I ship with Mystia, BUT! Shoutout to the creator because I did NOT like Eric at the end of volume one. In fact, I might have *coughs* rolled my eyes *coughs* when I saw that we were getting his backstory in this one. However, one thing I have learned since reading that chapter is never make assumptions about characters without knowing the WHOLE story. ;P
For a non-spoiler, I thought he called her mistress previously for a completely different reason. I realized how I originally interpreted it is VERY different then why he actually calls her mistress. *hides* Such a very well done backstory and extremely compelling! My whole view of him changed and can say that I found myself faltering almost in my shipping Mystia with Raid.
I think the only thing I wasn't super fond of was a new character that we meet. It's not a romance because of how Mystia acts, but that wasn't true for all parties. While I have read age-gap romance before, this one seemed more comfortable to me simply because of the ages of the two people and how young they are.
It was fun seeing the beginning of the actual game story begin and think the title of this series is spot on! I truly hope that at some point Mystia will really fall in love with one of these men (and hoping it's Raid!) and not just think of her wellbeing and other's wellbeing as a result of her choices. (Also, dare I say that that one moment was a possible foreshadowing?! Here's to hoping anyway! LOL!)
Lastly, I loved the bonus chapter and how much Mystia's household loves her. LOL!
Another excellent volume in this series and already wanting volume three in my hands! (Going to officially preorder that volume too!)
