This was a very good telling of the story with amazing images and a fun way to read a classic tale. Definitely a fan of classic fairy tales but an anime is definitely a cute unique way to see the story told again.

I love anything that has to do with Beauty and the beast. It was my favorite fairytale as a child. This didn't disappoint. I loved the drawings. They were my favorite part. I want to read Belle's story now!

Thank you to NetGalley, TOKYOPOP, and Disney Manga for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Even though I enjoyed Belle's Tale a little more than this one (I expected that since Belle is one of my absolute favorite characters) this was still a really great book and I loved the art style.

As I mentioned in the Belle's Tale review I do wish that these were a little easier to read as a digital copy but I will probably end up getting the physical copy someday!

'Disney Manga: Beauty and the Beast - The Beast's Tale' by Mallory Reaves with art by Gianluca Papi and Studio Dice is a manga based on the live action adaptation of the Disney animated film and shows the story from one side.

Beast wasn't always a beast in physical form, but he crossed the wrong person and got cursed. Now he thinks no one can love him and he's running out of time. Then Belle showed up.

I liked this full color manga and the art is really good. It's a good adaptation of one side of the story. I'm looking forward to reading Belle's side of the story.

As I stated in my review for Belle's Tale, Beauty and the Beast (1991) is my favorite Disney movie, and I tend to consume as many versions of the story as I can. This is book 2 in a duet, and the same issues with continuity exist here, and like I said in my other review, hopefully those were ironed out prior to publishing.

I'll admit that I was hoping for a little more expression of what Beast was thinking, but honestly, for what this book is, I think it was well done. I love how the two stories have differing color choices, with Belle's being brighter and more colorful and Beast's being darker and more monotone. Both books are gorgeous in their own right, and I think they would make beautiful collections for any bookworm's bookshelves.

3.5 stars. Definitely a great addition to the Beauty and the Beast universe :)

Thank you NetGalley for the copy!

Beauty and the Beast – The Beast's Tale is the second novel in a two-part set. As you might have guessed from the title, it's a graphic novel/manga retelling of the beloved Beauty and the Beast story, with one major twist. Both stories show the main character's thoughts and perspectives on the matter. This time we get to see what the Beast thinks of everything.

Once again, I'm not going to bother summing up Beauty and the Beast – I feel like it's a story that most readers already know all too well. Any summation I try to do will simply pale in comparison.

I'll admit that while I was really looking forward to both Belle's Tale and The Beast's Tale, I was more interested in seeing what the Beast had to say about things. After all, Belle's perspective is pretty much the dominant focus for most retellings.

Beast's story is naturally a bit darker than its counterpart, but not to the point where it'll alarm children. Though admittedly, it didn't have the level of insight I had been hoping for (though, if I'm being honest, I'm not entirely sure what I was expecting).

The issues I mentioned in Belle's Tale still exist here, though some things make more sense now. Having read both, I do wish that this was one collected story and not two separate editions. I think that would have made more sense in the long run.

Where Belle's half is brighter and happier, the Beast's artwork style tends to be darker – literally. There's less color and an overall more somber impression of the style. It's quite appropriate, all things considered, and I think I like this artwork better.

Beauty and the Beast but from Beast point of view. The art work was incredible. If you like Disney and manga then this is for you.

To be honest, I love Beast's version better than Belle's. What we saw on screen was Belle's, so this book gave more to learn about Beast. How he became that way (years before cursed), and his change of heart, which for me is more interesting to read.

Thank you Netgalley, Mallory Reaves and Tokyopop for a copy in exchange of a review. I liked Belle's version better but again there were additions to the original Disney story that made it better. I think they made it to fit the manga stories and manga readers. After this, I would love to read more manga versions of Disney stories.

First of all I want to thank netgalley for providing me with this graphic novel of beauty and the beast.

the story is from the point of view of the beast, it tells us how it was before the curse how it became that hateful person from the beginning, and it shows us how it changes with the help of belle.

The illustration is beautiful and the story is simple but beautiful, I recommend it as a complement.

I give it 3.5 out of 5 stars.

Disney and Manga meet in this fantastic version of Beauty and the Beast. The art may upset some traditional art lovers but it's fresh and new. Can't wait to see the next installment.

I enjoyed reading Beast's Tale more than Belle's Tale. The way this manga shows emotions of anger, fear, uncertainty, contentment and happiness on Beast's face is just amazing. The artist has done a great job! It may sound ironic but Beast is drawn beautifully. The artwork is good. The detailing of Beast's room, the rose jar stand and the mirror was incredible. 4,5 stars.

Full color manga style graphic novel of Beast's side of the Disney version of Beauty and the Beast. Originally released in 2017 in black in white. This is not only a full color edition of the manga the book is larger. Some really cool things are done that bring both books together. You do need to read both volumes in order to get the entire story.

Colors are so powerful. When the characters are feeling defeated the colors are muted as they get hope the colors brighten. It adds so much to the story. I read the 2017 version without color and the art was beautiful, but color added so much. Definitely worth buying even if you already had the previous edition.

Amazing adaption of Beauty and the Beast.

Would suggest reading this along with the Belle version, but this one gives the point of view from the Beast. Illustrations are so amazing, making the read well worth it.

Continuing on from my review from Belle’s POV, here is the version for Beast’s POV. I actually enjoyed reading this one more than former mainly because there was a little more depth to his story. Yes, we all know how he turned from an arrogant prince to a monstrous beast but we get to see his thought process through it all. Something we don’t get as much from the movie version. There was also a glimpse of his childhood and why he became so arrogant and angry which really added more to his character.

In Belle’s version, illustrations were brighter and happier to match her optimism but darker colors were used in Beast’s version to show off his feelings of frustrations and anguish. The colors gradually brightens when he fell in love with Belle.

Thank you NetGalley and Tokyopop for the arc.

The Beast's Tale is half of a manga set of the Beauty and the Beast tale, this volume from the Beast's point of view.

The artwork is lovely and designed to evoke the emotional changes Beast experiences, starting with his sharp restlessness of his privileged life, then anger and despair over his curse, and eventually happiness with the Belle. This is a great introduction to manga for new readers. There is a bit of repetition between this volume and the one from Belle's point of view, replicating the artwork and dialog.

I love Disney loads so I knew I would enjoy this one. Full of colour, it is an enchanted tale based on the live action film version but from the beast's perspective. For all fans old and new. I loved this!

Disney Manga: Beauty and the Beast - The Beast's Tale. You know when you think something jntially about a book, and then it turns out to be nothing like you expected? Those were my thoughts when reading this book.

The story is cute, short and sweet, fabulously illustrated, but frustrating. Don't get me wrong, I truly enjoyed this volume, however I thought (wrongly) that I would get to see new scenes beyond the movie, or at least some form of deviation. But this is just the movie told from the Beast's POV, which was a little disappointing.

If your a Disney, die-hard fan, or of you enjoy incredibly illustrated graphic novels, then I would highly recommend this book. However, for me it was beautiful, but easily forgettable

Rated: 3 stars

Thank you to netgallery for allowing me to read such a beautifully illustrated book.

This is the second part of classical “Beauty and the Beast” story told from the Beast’s point of view! (see my profile for the first part) The colour scheme continues in the same colour schemes and there are pages which overlap with Belle’s story making it so relatable! Again, the manga has 160 pages of storyline which is also easy & fast to go through.

Special thanks to NetGalley, TOKYOPOP, Disney Manga, and the author for giving me the opportunity to review the ARC, and to you, my reader, for taking the time to read this honest personal book review.

A really wonderful tie-in with the movie, that also adds a lot to the original story. beautiful and fun, with glimpses into the way Beast thinks throughout the story. Makes the love story that much sweeter.
