Beauty and the Beast is one of my favorites so I knew I had to read this! I really enjoyed Beast’s tale! I loved the darker colors and art that was used for his side of the story. I also really liked how the colors lightened up over time when he was with Belle. I had a little problem with the story transition. Sometimes it read right to left and then other times it read left to right and that got a little confusing! Overall, I really enjoyed it! Thank you so so much to the Publisher and Netgalley for a copy of the arc in return for an honest review!!!
This was a gorgeous read, the whole book is full of colour, and what can I say, beauty and the beast is one of mine favourite movies, I did enjoy very much this being the beast side of the story, I just wished we had kind of an inside to what the beast was thinking and his feelings.
Thank you NetGalley for the free ARC, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I AM SUCKER FOR BEAUTY AND THE BEAST'S STORY!
This manga was beautiful - it follows the story as old as time, from 2017 movie, from Beast's perspective.
I love this story. Here I loved, that at first the colours were dark to emphasize Beast's loneliness and then they're more bright.
4,5/5⭐

I actually thought this was better than Belle's Tale, in terms of both the flow and artwork. I loved having the Beast's POV and insight into his childhood, especially since this is a mostly untold perspective.
The use of a darker colour palette in contrast to Belle's more vibrant tones was also a clever touch. While both books might have the same scenes, Belle's Tale uses subtly lighter shades. Meanwhile, The Beast' Tale retains the same dark colours until towards the end.
An enjoyable and creative adaptation!
I liked how the manga blended both versions of the movie, animated and live-action, and pulled together many of my favourite scenes. Beauty and the Beast has always been a favourite of mine, and I think this manga is an excellent introduction to the story for those who haven't watched any of the films yet, or a great gift for readers who are, like myself, absolutely obsessed with Disney.
I enjoyed the artwork, and thought the backgrounds were really lovely. It's unusual for me to read a manga in full colour, and I really enjoyed it. I'm not sure if it's because the story is set in France but the way the Beast's half of the story is set up, made me think of the popular anime The Rose of Versaille, which is also a favourite of mine.
Overall well done, and I can't wait to read Belle's half of the story.
The famous Beauty and The Beast story retold in manga format and also in the Beasts POV. Here we learn a bit more about his past and family life before we came to know him as the beast! This is certainly a Disney movie fairytale retelling.
I honestly really enjoyed learning more from the Beasts' POV, so often we see Belle's story and we only see the Beast with the curse and not much of his life beforehand, or his thought process through meeting Belle. Here we are able to discover much of the Beasts' character arc, how he came to be the angry and cruel villain and his thought process behind his change back. How funny that a seemingly small few decisions could impact his life in such a big manner. Despite the plot being the same as before, so predictable in a sense, I really enjoyed learning more about Beasts' character.
The pacing of this manga with the Beauty and the Beast story felt a little rushed at points. However we were provided with new information about Belle's past that wasn't always included in other versions of this story. I would have personally preferred that the pacing were just a touch slower - but it does make this a fun and quick read!
The writing and dialogue were well done and easy to understand. Dialogue on the shorter side was all that was needed to illustrate the usage of words and the imagery helped in conveying tone. I also really enjoyed this type of manga art style, It felt familiar but modern enough, the perfect blend between the imagery we know so well for this story already and the manga type of imagery we love as well!
Overall a very enjoyable read and one that I would recommend if you're a fan of this story and enjoy reading graphic novels and mangas. This also makes a great gift for Disney x manga lovers!
2 stars - It was ok
This manga version of Beauty and the Beast was ok. This one is Beast’s POV of the events that happened. This is based on the newest live action movie, not the original animated film. I enjoyed Beast’s POV slightly more than Belle’s. The art style chosen for this comic didn’t really work for me. The proportions were off in some of the panels for Belle and was a bit jarring at times. The coloration in this volume was actually crisp and easy to see the details, unlike in Belle’s version. Also, the servants are still very creepy looking.
I really enjoyed this!! The Beauty and the Beast manga shows the classic tale through the eyes of Beast while the Belle manga shows the tale through the eyes of Belle, who's perspective we've already seen from the show. The drawings and colorizing were super eye catching in this manga, and the drawings added an element of enjoyment here that can't be recreated by watching the movie or reading novelizations.
I was a bit jarred by how similar the prince and Belle look after he changes from the Beast--they look like siblings! But other than that I really enjoyed these mangas!
Love,, Love, Love amazing and fast read I love books that get to the main parts to show the true meaning and show that you don't have to be beautiful to love someone
This is like watching a movie on paper. It's stunningly beautiful, and while Beauty and the Beast is one of my favorite movies I was still drawn into the story.
The artwork, I seriously cannot say enough about this illustrator, every panel was a true work of art and I found myself extremely sad when I got to the end.
I've never been a fan of graphic novels, manga, or comic books, but with art and writing like this one I'll be reading everyone I can by this author and Illustrator.
Bravo Mallory Reaves for breathing new life into a tale as old as time and making it feel new and original.
This manga follows Belle’s side of the story in Beauty and the Beast. It is based off of the 2017 live action film. This manga originally released the same year as the film but it is being rereleased in full color, which is amazing. The art is really gorgeous and having the full color really adds to the overall story. This doesn’t add anything that wasn’t in the movie but it was still a really fun read. I love Beauty and the Beast so much so I will glad consume every iteration of it that I can find.
I thought it was very interesting that this volume used bright pretty colors and the Beast volume uses a lot of dark colors. This is definitely a book that I will be buying a finished copy of when it releases.
This book was gorgeous. I’ve read quite a few mangas and it’s rare to see them in color. So gorgeous. Love the dual perspectives and the matching covers. I would love to buy these for my shelves.
(First of all, thank you NetGalley and Publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest opinion)
Starting by the fact that my favourite Disney film is Beauty and the Beast is hard for me to not love anything related to it. So, of course, I love reading this manga. I enjoy so much that the story was told by Beast POV something I want to see and learn and I love the Beast draw (more than Belle). The story and the ARC of this manga is about the Disney live action plot. I love more the animation, though. Maybe I would try to make another version, not related to any of the movies, but still, I will always love all Beauty and the Beast adaptations. And I'm thrilled to read Belle's Tale!
I like reading the POV of the Beast. The colorful art was beautiful and it is a nice story. I love Beauty and the Beast.
This manga follows the 2017 Beauty and the Beast movie from the Beast's perspective. We see him as he learns how to be a friend and how to love.
A tale as old as time”
I just love Disney and fairytales. Honestly they are what is probably one of the few things I’ve carried and held dear since being a child. Reading this quick anime style, was quite the experience. I have two others with similar read style and this was up there with them quality wise, smidge different reading on the tablet it kept trying to jump me back up so I’d constantly have to scroll and refind the part I was trying to read.
Story is just the same as the Disney live action , sorta attempts to mimic it art wise looking like the actors and actresses but the colorful art was well done and story one old and new would love to read.
While I don't love the fact that the plot points and character designs were taken from the live-action movie and not the classic animated film, I do like seeing the events transpire from the POV of the Beast, rather than how we normally see it, from Belle's side.
