This is Belle’s version of the fairytale and has a lighter color scheme to suit her nature. The illustrations felt a bit uneven in this one. Some were beautiful, but a few didn’t reach the mark.
Since I read this after Beast’s version, I’ll go ahead admit that I like his POV more. Belle’s love for him seemed too sudden. Another thing was the abrupt pacing of the story. I had to check if I skipped a page more than once.
What I did like were the inventions and stuff. Some of Belle’s illustrations were so pretty and live animation. Her eyes stood out in a couple of pages. That was cool! And the illustrations of the objects were really good in this one.
Reading the books together might seem a bit boring with a couple of the same pages, but it’ll give a complete picture of the story. Grab them if you want to try reading fairytales in Manga and live animation.

*Thanks to Netgalley for giving me an ARC*

I loved this! Beauty and the Beast is my favorite movie. Even though I thought the manga would be following the classical Disney film, it wasn't but that's okay. I have seen the live action movie which had flaws and I much prefer the classical version but the drawings in here I love!.

Thanks to NetGalley for this ebook in exchange of an honest review.

I was really excited when i got this arc but i must admit that kind of disappoints me because it's just the same as the old tale. I would still give it a 3 star rating because the illustrations are gorgeous 💗.

I loved the original Beauty and the Beast animated movie, it shone brightly during my childhood. The modern live action adaptation, however, I was pretty lukewarm about, even though I really liked the new musical number, Evermore. I was really curious when I saw this manga and its companion one of the Beast's perspective, as I'm a long time lover and reader of manga, and Beauty and the Beast, as it turns out, is something that's still close to my heart. So, with bated breath, I started with reading Belle's tale. I felt that it would be the bigger challenge for a storyteller, as past iterations of Beauty and the Beast have been mostly told from Belle's perspective. This manga did a good job. It wasn't just an illustrated re-telling of everything we've had the potential to see already, it added fresh new things. The art is also really nice, although I wouldn't describe the style as classical manga, that doesn't at all detract from it; if anything, this more westernized style suits the story better. Overall, it was an enjoyable read. I didn't give it five stars because I personally found it a bit derivative, but that really can't be helped because of what it is. I think any Beauty and the Beast enthusiast will like this book and its companion Beast's Tale.

This is the manga version of the live action movie of Beauty and the Beast. It's in full color! The color palette for Belle's Tale were vibrant yellows, reds, pinks and blues. The story line does focus on Belle's point of view and perspective of the events that take place within the pages.

I loved how the characters were drawn. And I found the minor differences from the movie delightful - Belle reads to the Beast from Romeo and Juliet and my English teacher heart beat with joy. I still giggled when I saw Chip and still swooned at Beast's gift of the library to Belle. All in all, it was a delightful retelling in manga style.

I have a manga unit planned in my classroom and plan to add both to my collection for students to borrow.

Loved the illustrations!! I did feel the story was a bitch jump and the comment bubbles misplaced a bit (caught myself reading out today order at times). Story is still beautiful!!

I loved this! The artwork was stunning - Vibrant, colorful, gorgeous. This was the classic Beauty and the Beast love story, told mostly in regards to Belle. I loved the details in the story and seeing how Belle fell in love.

There were times in the manga where I was confused as to how it should read (sometimes left to right, sometimes right to left), but overall, I really enjoyed this. I think it would be a great addition for any Disney fans!

I found the artwork in this manga to be absolutely stunning. Story true to the live action movie. The imagery used is perfect for the character’s perspective.

I enjoyed the live action Beauty and the Beast and I thought it was cool that Disney does manga of their movies. I think the art style is stunning and I love the color. I like how they adapted the movie close enough with a few changes.

First want to thank Netgalley and the publisher for letting me read this in exchange for an honest review! I had no idea Beauty and the Beast was even a manga so getting the chance to read it as one was pretty fun. I have watched the original cartoon a bunch and the live action once so it was more of a refresher. The coloring is done pretty well, which I know this is this is. The only complaint about the manga is how some of the characters are drawn. There were just a bit off. Other than that it was a pretty good read!

Beauty and the Beast is a wonderful fairytale and I love watching both the animated and live-action version. Reading this tale in manga form was great! The illustrations are beautiful and the overall feel of the story remains, even when the pictures aren't moving ;)
I love how they split Belle's and the Beast's story for this manga, it brings a new dimension to the story even though I already know it so well.
I like Belle's story best since it's the more colorful of the two. Belle is so full of life and beautiful things, and it shines through every page.

The intro in this book helps to know that this is an adaptation of the live action Disney film of Beauty and the Best. The color is a nice way to be able to absorb the story since most manga isn't in color. This title follows Belle's point of view tightly and we even get her inner monologue throughout the story. You can sympathize with Belle that she is loyal to her father and is extremely curious and compassionate. There are no real surprises in this story but it's sweet none-the-less.

This manga followed the live-action movie of a few years ago very closely. But perhaps the relationship and plot progression was a bit abrupt and could prove confusing for people not already familiar with the story.

As a 90's kid the original animated movie and it's drawing style holds a special place in my heart, but I still very much enjoyed this new re-imagining and redesign with more anime-inspired illustrations. However I must say a few of the vignettes were a little lazy, with no background aside from a gradient and blurry, undetailed images.

The coloring chosen for this manga, bright and in pastel tones, really managed to depict the warmth and optimism that are so characteristic of Belle.

All in all, I think this would appeal to all Disney lovers be them young or old.

A beautiful manga showing belle’s point of view. I absolutely loved the drawings! Reading Belle’s thoughts throughout the book brings a new understanding to the story.

Thank you Netgalley and TOKYOPOP for the opportunity to read this manga.
I always read anything that has to do with Beauty and the Beast. It has always been my favorite movie since I was a kid because I identify myself with Belle.
This one is about the live/action movie, I like the manga style, somehow kawaii for Lumiere and Cogsworth.
Taking the point of view of Belle, this manga adds some details to the story, which is nice. Couldn't read it without listening the voices from the characters.
Hope to see more movies adapted into manga.

This manga isn't an adaptation of the Disney animated film but of the live action version of the former, so in essence a retelling of a retelling. And as such has differences, minor for the most part although some are major, and there's also new elements, such as Belle's mother and what happened to her and the additions to the ending.

Now, I am not the biggest fan of the animated motion picture because of the origins story for Beast that doesn't work for me, but in time I've come to appreciate its aesthetics. It's gorgeous artwork that they did, and their iconic scenes such as the giant library and the yellow dress ballroom dance, are so compelling and beautiful, so that I'm able to enjoy the story in spite of my disagreements with certain points. But, although this manga has lovely artwork, the changes and the pace of the storyline, which is rushed and has abrupt transitions, made it harder to follow and like. The panel layout of the manga is confusing, as some are traditional right to left and others are left to right, so I sometimes didn't know which was the reading order from page to page.

Also, the illustration quality isn't consistent, because in a lot of pages it's gorgeous and well-defined, and in others it's done as if in a hurry and sketched hastily, blurred edges and badly defined features abound. This gives a feel of an unpolished and carelessly produced manga I was surprised by because generally this publisher puts out great artwork for their adaptations. Perhaps it's because it's an ARC? I certainly hope so.

I found the storyline all right, not particularly engrossing but not boring either. Belle is somewhat more abrasive and rude in this version, and more confrontational as well. Preachy, too, another surprise that wasn't exactly pleasant. Her relationship with Beast is weaker than in the animated version. You don't see them grow in love, at least not from her side. She comes to love him basically because that's how the plot goes; they have so little time! Shorter than in the animated film, so when the "I love you" dying moment happens, it just... happens. It was so very disappointing. Throwing in Shakespeare, and making Belle love "Romeo and Juliet" as her favourite play doesn't compensate for this lack of chemistry and bonding moments. And then, for a French setting, sometimes this live action film, and therefore the manga too, feels a bit too Britishy, even German-ish (in the architecture of Belle's town, for one), than typical pre-Revolutionary French.

In sum, I vastly preferred the animated film, but am hoping that Beast's side of the story, as this is meant to be paired up with his story as a duology, will solve some of the seeming plotholes and make the whole story feel more complete.

What a perfect manga! Beauty and the beast is one of my favorite Disney's stories and I was always sighing because this is the kind of story who teaches to look beyond the surface of how We look like, and beggin to learn how to be kind with one another even when We don't deserve. For the ones who is most difficult to love are the ones who need the most. I loved it!

Belle was my favorite prince and still is. I love the story of B&B, I like to read the retellings of it too and when I saw this manga version I could not not read it. Here we have Belle's POV and there is a second book with the Beast's POV and I like this.

Okey, so the main point of this version is to see if B&B could be made as a MANGA. The illustrations were colorful, cute but it really looked more like a Webtoon or a graphic novel than a manga and drawings with big eyes or throwing a big black kanji here and there don't make it a real Japanese manga. Let's only see it as a graphic novel. Something was really missing but I still enjoyed it.
