lovely ending to the story after a very warm first volume the second came with a lot of heartbreak
My review its here: https://youtu.be/MOOAOvnZQY4
Mild drama, but look forward to loads of sweet moments and a HEA. I absolutely adored the first installment surrounding this couple and had no idea a second manga installment was on the way. Thanks, Tokyopop! I love everything about this manga from the art to the progression of the relationships, I would definitely pick up other series by Atsuko Yusen.
I read the first vol last year and and fell in love with it, loved the main character, my babies 🥺
The airport scene was soo great, I'm love with this, I really want more of them,
Thank you netgalley and Publisher for E-ARC in exchange of honeat review
Rating: 3.5 stars
I was a little uncertain going into this manga how it would go. The first volume of the series, Dekoboko Sugar Days, is about Yuujirou and Rui and their friends-to-lovers romance. In this second volume, they're already a couple so you know SOMETHING is going to happen to shake their relationship up! This one (obviously) has a little more angst than the first one, as Yuujirou and Rui think about thinks like how and when to come out to their families, and what it will mean when they head off to college in the fall. The ending felt like it wrapped up just a tad abruptly, but I really loved the way it ended so I won't complain TOO much!
Que lindo fue volver a leer la relación de estos dos! Ya los extrañaba, aunque no recordaba que fueran tan horny 😂 igual lo disfrute mucho
A lovely BL manga, that is very pleasant to read. Not the best ever, but good for a nice hour on the couch.
Dekoboko Bittersweet Days by Atsuko Yusen is definitely a manga that should have been labeled with an age rating. The art is necessarily NC-17, but I was expecting a sweet loving story and got a much more explicit graphic one so I barely read the book before I put it aside. If its your kind of genre, go for it, but be aware.
Rui and Yuujirou's best friends turned lovers story is super sweet in the previous volume, Sugar Days, and it continues to be so here but now they're faced with tough decisions about their future so there's some more drama to be had here. But the overall tone of the volume is all about love, acceptance, and letting go so you can grow, so I actually love what Yusen did with the characters.
Happy thanks to NetGalley, TOKYOPOP, and LOVE x LOVE for the early peek at this sweet romance read!
I actually didn't know that it was already the second book. I just learned it after finishing the manga. Despite not having read the first one, Dekoboko Bittersweet Days can still be read as a standalone, but of course since I really enjoyed this, I'll definitely check out the first book as well.
The story followed how Yuujirou and Rui's love deepened as their relationship went through some hurdles and obstacles as they grew into adults. I really liked how this story realistically portrayed difficult times that couples went through a lot. There was the right amount of sweetness as well as angst that made this story so enjoyable.
Dekoboko Sugar Days had a happy-for-now ending that left me and many other fans hoping for more of this adorable couple’s story. And now Dekoboko Bittersweet Days is finally here!
Yuujirou and Rui’s relationship is as steamy as ever and their love is still so pure. As they take the next steps into adulthood they hit a stumbling block in their relationship. This second volume of their story shows how they move through a long-distance relationship, establish themselves as a couple, and move together into the future.
I loved this sequel even more than the original!
Recommended for: manga & romance readers – especially yaoi fans
Content warning: steamy sex scenes
I received a digital ARC of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Oh this was so good! It was sweet and spicy! I couldn't put it down! I completely love the characters! The story is sweet and extra spicy! This was so good!
First things first I want to thank NetGalley and tokyopop for giving me access to their ARC in return for my honest opinion.
Dekoboko Bittersweet Days is Such a Hilarious Manga. It’s very lighthearted and very very slice of life, I really enjoyed the slow burn of Rui and Yuujirou. I was a big fan of the first installment “ Dekoboko Sugar Days. So seeing the continuation and being able to to read what came after all of the events that’s transpired before hand was super sweet. Seeing their relationship grow and blossom as they navigate the “bittersweet” days towards adult life.
Dekoboko Bittersweet Days is the continuation of Rui and Yuujirou's love story. The reader follows these characters' journey in figuring out how relationships work, especially for teens, and how it can impact themselves and their future.
The title bittersweet is very accurate for the events that occur in this volume. Teenage love is very easy at first, but near the end of high school and the beginning of adulthood is where things start to change, from personality to priorities, and more. However, love is love, and sometimes putting in effort is enough for it to evolve into something else equally as beautiful.
This volume had a great balance of conflict and soft moments that made the story and conclusion phenomenal.
it was kinda good
but it was all out of order for me
I'm not sure if that's how it is or if that's how it downloaded?
butttt it was kinda interesting
Thank you NetGalley and Tokyopop for letting me review this book.
.
THIS IS SUCH A CUTE AND FUN BL MANGA!!! I totally can't stop smiling and stay still while reading this book from the start until the end.
I absolutely adore the characters and of course the kind of fresh characterization and not just those normally pairing of tall top and short bottom.
Another thing are the friends that also made me smile from the start and the family that's totally supportive at the end.
Super cute! I am a huge fan of Atsuko Yusen's manga, and I really loved the first volume of this series - Dekoboko Sugar Days - so I was extra excited to read the sequel! This volume has a great balance between fluff, sexy times, bittersweet moments, and character growth. I liked getting the "what happens next" of Yuujirou and Rui's relationship, as well as even more peeks into their childhood. They're the cutest and sweetest best friends to lovers couple! I also enjoyed getting to learn more about their family. I felt like the drama in the story was realistic and resolved in such a special way. I like that both guys are independent, have their own dreams, and want to support each other. Their growing pains brought depth to the story and I feel like their bond is stronger than ever because of it. A must read for fans of boys love manga!
I loved the previous book so I was so excited for this one. The first one was full of fluff and sweet times for our couple. I love a friend-to-lovers situation and this one is that trope to its sweetest.
They are both now in their last year of High School and thinking about their future. Yuuijirou has his future planned but is scared to break it to his boyfriend, and childhood friend Rui. He goes through some inner turmoil and you just want to hug him. They have some big obstacles to overcome. Will they overcome them together or break apart?
There is some great character development here and the story shows us the hardships High School students go through. I loved the ended and I'm glad it's so many years down the line. Many things have changed then, but Rui finally grew taller! I want to see their two best friends together so much. Hopefully, sensei will make it come true.
A really cute manga, but pretty standard when it comes to the BL genre and doesn’t make itself stand out amongst the pack. It does a good job of being on the more realistic side where the characters deal with truths of adult life and being a gay couple which I appreciated mixed in with the fluff.
I've been wanting to read this series for a while and I'm so glad I received a copy of this manga!
I really enjoyed how practical and realistic this series tries to be while still retaining a veneer of the usual rose-coloured glasses world found in most fluffy BL - making concrete plans for attaining the perfect future together in a society that would actively keep them apart (or at least very closeted) was certainly a refreshing thing to see. I liked the deconstruction and acceptance of the stereotypes both boys embody, and it's clear throughout that despite their communication problems they care deeply for each other. Dekoboko is a great mix of sexy and sweet, and while I would have preferred more involvement in their adult lives the series does end on a perfect note, and makes you feel good after reading it. Thank you Tokyopop for my review copy, I can't wait to recommend this to my BL- adoring patrons.
Thank you to netgalley for an arc!
I would first off like say I need to be more aware of what I'm requesting on netgalley. Yaoi's aren't my favorite, just because most of the time they tend to be alittle bit more graphic than my personal preference.
This manga follows Yuujirou and Rui who were childhood friends but recently turn lovers. The story follows them as they grow and make hard choices.
What I did like about this manga was how well it showed the realities of life. Normally, I don't usually like the friends to lovers trope but I did enjoy this one. I did like the art style of it. I did find it to be a tad predictable though. Overall, it was good but I didn't love it.
