I was utterly disappointed by this book to be honest. I really enjoyed other books by Van Dyke but haven’t had the greatest experience with this one. The magic felt off and the characters were hard to grab.

I liked the concept a lot but felt something was lacking in the execution. I couldn't fully connect to the characters or the plot

I thought this was a great reimagining of Tinkerbell’s story. It was fun and easy to read. It’s witty and action packed. Altogether enjoyable.

This was a far cry from the original Neverland of my youth but one I ended up enjoying immensely. Aside from the spiciness (which took a while to get over) it was a book full of adventure, suspense, courage, tension, love and the wholesome message of family is what you make it! A great all round read but definitely very explicit at times which was not to my taste… but hey each to their own and really, who could resist a ‘filthy sticking pirate!’

I wasn't sure what I was expecting when I started reading this book, but I ADORED IT!!

This book was not a sweet Peter Pan retelling, but it was intense and romantic and more adult than the children's story.

The romance was brilliant, although I'm not sure I would refer to it as 'enemies to lovers' since Captain Hook fell almost immediately, but it was great!

Can't wait to read more from this author.

Really enjoyable read with developed characters and interesting plot. The romance was good and i really liked the way the author had the two MCs connect.

I have always held a fascination with Peter Pan from a young age. It seems the perfect children's story now looking back as an adult. Every time the Hook film is on TV with Robin Williams as Peter, I find myself sat watching it again. So when I saw this book advertised, as an adult version, I thought I would give it a read. And I have to say, I am pleasantly surprised.

This is the first book in the 'Reimagined Fairy Tales Collection' and starts with the tale of Tinkerbell. In most stories previous she has been portrayed as a mischievous pixie but here we meet quite a complex character selling her fairy dust to help save her cousins life. She puts her life on the line and is banished from her homeland, but will continue to do all she can to save her family. By doing this she runs into the filthy pirate James Hook. He is also another character with a complicated past and not at all the loathed fearsome pirate he has been portrayed as in other versions of the Neverland story. The relationship between the two is every evolving and the chemistry and tension makes for truly beautiful and steamy read.

I haven't read the author before, but I am sure I will continue reading the rest of the series.

Thanks you to Netgalley for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

As a child, I was unhealthily obsessed with Peter Pan and now love a good retelling. This definitely didn't let me down. It was steamy, fresh and action-packed.

A Peter Pan retelling with the focus on Tinkerbell and Captain Hook? SIGN ME UP.

Overall this was a pleasant read for me. It was a bit fast paced for a romance, both on the romance aspect and the plot. And the pirates were the ‘nicest’ pirates I’ve ever read.

We’ve got a mild enemies to lovers situation on our hands here. I say mild because we have an ‘obsessed boy’ from the beginning so how much of ‘enemies’ can they be. Its dual POV so that always helps.

It has a solid base for the world/series. I will look forward to reading more from this author.

This was a Peter Pan retelling involving a romance between tinker bell and Captain Hook, I wasn’t sure what I would feel about this but I ended up really enjoying it. Quite a unique take on an original story.

There are so many unexplored aspects of the "Peter Pan" fairytale that have too long been neglected by authors in the fairytale retellings genre. I love how this book dives deep (no pun intended for the Neverland mermaids) into the romantic aspects of Neverland - how it's a land not just standing still, frozen in time, but is all about growing up too. I love the youthfulness of this story but that it's aimed towards the older kids that never forgot about Neverland and still care about the characters.

I was quite wary going into a Peter Pan retelling that has a romance between Tinker Bell and Captain Hook, but I was pleasantly surprised at the story and the writing!
I really liked the world of Neverland as imagined by Megan Van Dyke - it was otherworldly and somewhat familiar from pop culture, but also realistic which is a mixture that worked really well to give us a sense of place and was a great background to the quest plot with added romance (and some steam!). The characters were really well realised - I felt for them all at different times, and found myself rooting for them.
I had a great time with this book and will definitely look into other works from this author.

Second Star to the Left by Megan Van Dyke is a Peter Pan retelljng romance where Tinker Bell and Captain Hook take center stage. A fan of retellings, I enjoyed this romance. It was fun and I would happily read it again.

The book was great. Past faced, full of humor and a prickling romance.
The sexual tension between Tink and Hook is crazy, and if you like these kind of books - you’ll love this one. I love the story setting - pirates, mermaids, sea adventures.
Everything was great - except the fact that I felt weirded out because of it being a retelling of Peter Pan.
Peter Pan to me is a children‘s story and it felt weird to have actual characters from the children’s story in this super sexualized version. If it would have been a normal story and isolated from Peter Pan, plus different character names - I would have loved it. But because these names and characters are so deeply connected to the children story I just couldn’t love it. It felt weird and gross (because I connected it to innocent children stories - so this one is on me!)

This is only my personal experience! If you’re better with separating the two from one another than I was then you’ll absolutely love this book. :)

This retelling of Peter Pan took a spicy turn that I was not expecting. I enjoyed most of the book, but the author's writing style (specifically using the same handful of phrases over and over) got a bit grating at times.

I am a huge Disney fan so I was super excited to read this. Tinkerbelle is also one of my favorite Disney characters so that was another reason why I was excited to read this. I really enjoyed this one. This is by no means a book for kids because it had a lot of adult themes. For example, there were some steamy parts to this book. A lot happened in this book an I don't want to give much a way. But go read this.

Never in my life did I ever think I'd be reading Tinker Bell x Captain Hook smut, yet here we are.

I had no idea what I was signing up for when I picked this book up, other than it was a Peter Pan retelling and that it was well rated... which is why I'm sad to say I disliked it. A lot.

I was never really hooked (ay) by the plot itself. It felt a little rushed and all over the place at times, the plot twists were quite predictable and a bit cliché in my opinion. I also really wish we had more world building. It takes place Neverland, after all.

The one thing I will say is some of the side characters are absolutely lovely - specially Smee. I found, however, that most of them still lacked depth and it was hard to connect with them.

I think this is a very creative book with a very interesting premise, I just wish it had been executed better

I steamrollered through this book while on holiday. It’s such a good easy beach read with an enjoyable twist on a well known classic story made adult with the smut interwoven by the author. The story is written in a way that Captain James Hook is a favourite and you can’t help enjoy as his and Tink’s characters and their relationship develops. I wouldn’t necessarily say it’s my favourite book of the year. But I would rate it high ish for enjoyability.

This is a really fun (and sexy) twist on the Peter Pan story. I, of course, villain-lover that I am, fell immediately head over heels in love with Captain Hook. He may have been a wee bit TOO cinnamon roll, but he's a SECRET cinnamon roll so I'll allow it, haha.

The chemistry between Tink and Hook was so... I want to say fun, but is that the right way to describe a relationship just rife with longing?

The world-building in this book is what really got me. Neverland lies not far from Tortuga, which is fitting because our Captain Hook seems like a bit of a cross between Once Upon A Time Killian/Hook and Captain Jack Sparrow. I also love Megan Van Dyke's twist on some of the supporting characters. Smee is DELIGHTFUL, and his sisters remind me a bit of the Bimbettes from Disney's Beauty and the Beast, haha. Her reimagining of the crocodile that takes Hook's hand is just GENIUS and I adore it.

Megan Van Dyke has another fairy tale spin coming up, The Ugly Stepsister, which is a Cinderella/Snow White mash-up that I am GREATLY looking forward to!!
