This book was fantastic. It wasn't entirely what I expected, because while there is a beautiful second chance romance in this book, I wouldn't say it's a traditional romance book. It has a lot more literary elements, as we go through Matty's story of addiction as he works towards sobriety.
This book was raw and honest and so well written. Handling a difficult topic in such a good way.
I also wasn't expecting the book to be told entirely from Matty's perspective. I think this is the first book marketed as a romance that I've ever read, which is entirely from the male perspective. I've read dual POV before, but this was refreshingly different, and considering the storyline, I think it worked so well getting only his perspective.
The one negative I have is that at times some of the language was a little repetitive.
Overall however, this was a great book with a unique and interesting plot, a great friend group and wonderful leads.

5/5
this book is everything I adore. I love reading about the rough and emotional path of addiction, mental struggles, second chance romance, and lovable characters. this does not read like a debut novel and im very impressed. I will be buying a physical copy of this book to re read over and over again. incredible.

This book had dark themes but tackled them in a sensitive way. The plot was engaging and I feel very inspiring. I will be recommending this book to all of my friends. I really like the cover.

I love love love the cover. Definitely already shows the drug abuse trigger warning, but it was such a great read and was so uplifting and inspiring.

It's been on my tbr list for a year and I have read around 10% of it but I can't pick it up again. I'm so sorry that it's not my cup of tea but I hope it will find the right reader which I surely know it already has!

Thank you to the publisher for allowing me advance access to this title. I really enjoyed reading this story and look forward to reading more from this author. As a reader, I am really motivated by character driven stories and I found myself quickly becoming immersed in these characters’ lives. Full review to come.

This has been on my NetGalley shelf for over a year, and I still haven’t picked it up. I've tried, but it just isn't for me (right now). I hope other people enjoy it more than I did.

Second chance romances are rarely my thing, so this unfortunately was one that didn't work for me in that area. It was however a lot deeper than I expected it to be. It was a good read but not wholly my thing.

I love second-chance romance and thought this was really good, especially for an author’s debut novel. I enjoyed the way the author wrote about addiction. It’s not an easy topic to include, but it was done respectfully in this story so round of applause to Kelly Piazza! I love alternating timelines so I enjoyed that and this book felt very easy to read. It was well written and had a good flow. I’d definitely recommend this book and look forward to seeing what the author puts out in the future.

"Don't Overthink This" by Kelly Piazza is a refreshing and practical guide that provides valuable insights and strategies for overcoming indecision and analysis paralysis. Piazza's writing style is engaging and relatable, making the book an enjoyable read while delivering actionable advice. With its emphasis on embracing simplicity and trusting one's instincts, this book is a must-read for anyone looking to break free from overthinking and make confident decisions in their personal and professional lives.

This book is such a great example of the old adage, don't judge a book by its cover. The little cartoon pill bottle should have tipped me off, but the animated cheesy cover of Don't Overthink This doesn't do justice to the deep themes of addiction within its pages. I think the first half of the book was a lot more intense than the last, but this is such a unique, interesting, and nuanced romance that I was pretty riveted throughout. If you like found family, second-chance romance, a male protagonist POV (kind of unusual for romance!), and surprisingly realistic and raw depictions of addiction and mental illness, this might be for you. I want to read it again already. It's that special.

I don't know how i feel about this story. As i wasn't ready for something real and kind of depressing reality that was that was there in this story. Maybe i will read this some other time and will get it more.

Thank you Netgalley for the ARC by the way.

Second chance romance is my second fav romcom trope! The plot was unique, it was full of emotions. It made me feel like I was on a rollercoaster. The story is raw and realistic.

Enjoyed this but didn’t love it. Sometimes these cartoon covers are hit or miss for me. Overall okay

This book started out really good. Sadly though I couldn’t finish it. It’s my fault though. I thought this was a topic I could handle but I cannot.
Thanks for the chance.

As someone who has lost a loved one to drug addiction this was a difficult one to read. I thought I could handle it but defiantly felt intense emotional responses to certain chapters. With that being said it was a beautiful and brutal insight into addiction and finding yourself through it all.

I found this book very original as it focused on fighting addition first and a second chance romance second. The main focus of this novel is the main characters journey with addiction and trying to pick him and his relationships up after falling off the wagon. I found this book to be very interesting.

This is a tough review to write for several reasons. I need to consider the plot's uniqueness and the brutal honesty permeating the entire narrative. There is also the pretty natural introduction of a polyglot family and switching between Italian and English in personal conversations while ensuring the reader is not left out while simultaneously not being focused on spelling out the meaning. I am unable to pinpoint the exact ploy the author used to achieve such a feat, but she did.
These and the extremely honest familial reactions make this a very grand debut book. That said, the topic highlighted here is not for anyone looking for a cozy read. There is love involved in this story, the kind that often takes a beating before it comes back strong. In many romantic books, it is a setback that is eventually overcome. Here the addiction is central to the plot while the love is at times a crutch and other times a shoulder or hand to improve things. This statement describes succinctly what the book is all about.
To elaborate a little, our lead protagonist is an addict in the throes of his latest relapse and is a hardly functioning human being. There are other mental issues discussed here, and the weight that everyone in the inner circle carries when addiction rears its head.
The story swings between the past and the present, slowly working into the page the history behind what we are reading while simultaneously focusing on the now.
I thought I could handle the kind of story the blurb promised it would be (and delivered), but it was not my kind of story. The writing is easy and deals with information very well. I would definitely want to read the author's next book. The realistic narration also meant a lot of back and forth, which was the hardest to watch. I would only recommend this to people who are on the lookout for such a solid read.
I received an ARC thanks to NetGalley and the publishers, but the review is entirely based on my own reading experience.

Really enjoyed this, from seeing Matty in his downfall to seeing him get his life back together and the struggle of constantly having the urge to give in to addiction/ relapse. It was very deep, thought provoking and tremendously portrayed. Apart from that, getting to see Matty's supportive family and him getting a second chance at love was really nice.

I couldn't really get into this one, it wasn't a standout for contemporary romances this year with the market being so crowded.
