Thank you to Netgalley and Foxglove Publishing for providing me with this ARC!

The best way I can think to describe this book comes in two words: brutal and beautiful. From the very first page, author Kelly Piazza shows you exactly what you're in for. Devastating and wonderful, this book takes you on a journey that follows Matteo, a young man living with an addiction to pills, the war he wages with himself every day and the reality of what this addiction has cost him.

This book contains a lot of triggers, notably on-page drug use, discussion of suicidal thoughts, attempted and completed suicide, and honest and detailed depictions of mental illness, non-graphic dubious consent (sex traded for drugs). If these things are difficult for you, take extra caution.

With stark and striking language, this book really kept me glued to the page. I tore through the entire novel in just a few hours. I read fast, but I truly attribute this speed to how truly invested I was in Matteo's journey. This book is not exactly a romance novel, but it does contain romance. It will have you cheering Matteo on - you just can't help but root for him.

Don't Overthink This by Kelly Piazza

A love story that gets lost within addiction. Unfortunately this was a DNF for me. It was very well written, but personally for me there were too many trigger warnings surrounding suicidal fantasies, overdoses and eating disorders such as starvation for my liking. The story unfortunately just wasn't for me.
