I love reading about what made a person into who they are today. Like you may see them on tv every week but you don't really know them. This book was amazing to see where Molly came from and how that effected her growing up. I don't read memoirs for people ripping thier coworkers down, I just want to see what it felt like to be in that moment. This was a perfect mix of past and what went on behind the scenes personally. I will recommend this to everyone!

Such a great audiobook read by Mollie. She overcome so many heart ships and flourished as one of the best comediennes of all time. It was extra fun having her grow up in Cleveland.

Biographies are often a hit or miss for me - and I'm sorry to say that "Hello, Molly" didn't really touch me the way some stories do.

I have loved Molly Shannon since my childhood when staying up to watch SNL when I visited my grandmother was one of our little secrets. This book carries her signature humor but also tells of her difficult childhood that was changed in an instant by a car accident. Molly Shannon is an inspiration in overcoming hardships and viewing the beauty that is life.

I have been a fan of Molly Shannon for many years but I never knew anything about her personal life and her tragic childhood. From the moment the audiobook started, my heart went out to her. Molly Shannon narrated her memoir beautifully with humor and vulnerability. I wanted to laugh and I wanted to cry. It focuses mainly on her relationship with her father, how she got discovered and her years working on Saturday Night Live. I loved how open and honest she was and the amount of effort she had to put in to make it into the entertainment industry. Overall, this was an enjoyable memoir to listen to and I wanted more!

I received an arc of this book—-and I have to tell you I didn’t realize how jaded I was until I read Molly Shannon’s story. Her childhood was somewhat heartbreaking-yes she grew up to be a very lovely and decent human being. I don’t believe that she said an unkind thing about anybody in this entire book. At times it seemed a little Pollyanna-ish but overall I think Molly Shannon is probably just a very nice person. Very interesting life story.

As she chronicles her early life, her burgeoning career, and even her time as one of SNL's funniest leading ladies, Shannon defers to the brighter side of the picture in her memoir. Those looking for a truly salacious tale need look elsewhere - this is hardly a tell-all book that drags her contemporaries down. It's refreshing to see someone reflect so brightly as they look forward to their next chapter. But reading this book makes it obvious that the Molly Shannon you laughed along with is just as goofy and charming in real life. It's a book filled with love, much like its author.

There is nothing better than a good celebrity memoir for a road trip with my husband. We listened to Hello, Molly! on our way to Iowa for Easter.

Molly Shannon is best known for her time on Saturday Night Live. She was on the show during some of the best seasons in the show's history. But the book doesn't start out with comedy, but with tragedy. At age four, Molly and her family were in a car accident. Killing her mother and her baby sister. That accident overshadows the rest of Molly's life and her relationship with her father. And she speaks honestly about her relationship with her father. And it was messy at best.

Of course, Molly spends a lot of time covering her rise to stardom and her time at Saturday Night Live. Including the skits that made her a household name.

Thanks to the author and publisher for the audiobook! Listening to this audiobook felt like listening to Molly Shannon personally telling me stories about her life. In a candid and conversational manner, she tells about her career, the making of her career, and most importantly her upbringing. Some stories are funny, some are shocking, and some are heartbreaking.
What a treat to listen to Molly Shannon read her own book. No one could've narrated this poignant memoir the way she did. Needless to say, I highly recommend the audiobook.

This audiobook was a delight! I have always been a fan of Molly Shannon's (as a kid I LOVED Superstar) and I'm always down to read books by former SNL cast members. This one certainly did not disappoint. Molly had such a wild childhood and I loved hearing about it. I often found myself laughing out loud. The way she spoke about her father was so touching and emotional and I really enjoyed getting to know her more.

Wow, this book started off with a giant punch to the gut. Did not expect that in a book from Molly Shannon. The audiobook was absolutely delightful. Molly infused so much of her personality and emotion into the reading making it so special.

If you like Molly Shannon then you will love this unfiltered book. She puts a lot of detail into the store. Minor details. Honestly I’m not a huge SNL fan so I’m not the target audience

I've been a fan of hers since I was a kid and she was a "Superstar!". This journey through her life did not disappoint. It was quick but fun and exactly what I would expect from her.

Molly performs this book in her own unique and zany/upbeat cadence and speaking style. Not all stories flow together, but taken as a whole it's really interesting. I know her memorable characters on SNL and her later work, but I didn't know about the deep tragedies she had so early in her personal life that deeply shaped her. The stories about her complicated relationship with her incredibly flawed father, and ultimately her empathy and understanding for him, is worth the read alone. Well done and recommended.

I love Molly Shannon, and will always think of her from the skits she did on SNL and her hilarious movies like Superstar.

HELLO, MOLLY! was a surprisingly heartfelt memoir, opening with the tragic death of her Mother and baby sister from her Father falling asleep at the wheel one night. Molly shared so many honest and raw stories from her youth to stardom, while also sprinkling in plenty of laughs that she’s known for.

I was gifted the ALC audiobook and loved that it was narrated by Molly, loving her even more.

I love Molly Shannon! Her book is heartbreaking and is, of course, funny too. It definitely feels genuine, and I really enjoyed her memoir. She had me laughing out loud at parts and near tears talking about the loss of her sister and mom and eventually her dad. It’s clear she loves her family and friends. My favorite story was how she broke into the biz. She deserves to be where she is!

The audiobook is definitely the way to go for this one since Molly Shannon is the narrator! I always love a memoir narrated by the author. She made it real.

Molly Shannon is a national treasure. I have always adored her but this audiobook takes her to an entirely new level of adoration. Her stories are heartfelt and always hilarious. Her narration is fun, passionate, and energetic. She’s a superstar!

I was afraid that this book would be Mary Katherine Gallagher Superstar over the top so I was pleasantly surprised that this was nuanced book with highs an lows that made me laugh and cry at various points. Having Molly Shannon read the audiobook herself was key and really added to the story.

This was SUCH A DELGHT! Molly Shannon is such a relentless ray of sunshine, I just want to squeeze her.

All that being said - this is NOT a book of only rainbows and sunbeams - I cried MULTIPLE times listening to this. Molly and her family suffered some truly terrible losses when she was very young - her mother, baby sister, and teenage cousin were all killed in a car accident with her father driving (her older sister and her and her father were the only survivors). Molly talks so vulnerably and emotionally about what that horrible experience was like from her very young perspective, and how growing up without a mother affected her. Her father was also a very complicated guy - so fun and vivacious, but poor in boundaries and in and out of heavy drinking.

The book takes us from her childhood, growing up in Ohio, to NYC, LA, through auditions and misses, finally to SNL and beyond. It’s an incredibly moving, vulnerable, and hilarious ride, and Molly narrates it all perfectly. Seriously, you have to listen to the audio just to hear her say “DEEEEE-licious!” on multiple occasions - she obviously had a ball with this!

Can’t recommend this highly enough - it’s cliche, but, you’ll laugh, you’ll cry, and you’ll ultimately have a really good time.

Maybe, like me, you lived under a rock in the 1990s and missed the time when Molly Shannon was apparently a superstar on SNL. If you pick up this book expecting something that is just funny, in the way that many famous female comics have managed (I'm looking at you, Tina, Amy, Mindy), you will be disappointed. If you'd like to get to know a little more about the experiences of growing up with the specter of a mother who died in a car accident that you and one sibling--but not the other--survived, when your daddy was the driver, buckle in. Shannon takes the reader through her life, sharing the gritty bits and focusing heavily on her relationship with her father. Though uncomfortable at times, the parent and child bond shines through her narration and kept me interested in reading to learn more about how that relationship informed her own sense of self as a parent.
