This was a bit disappointing, some nice recipes but no reason to use a board. Did not go in to arrangements and pairings

Interesting cookbook with lots of ideas for doing platters. Each board has a main dish or theme, and then you add garnishes or toppings to go along with them. All are arranged on a platter or board. The recipes are suggestions, in the hope it sparks creativity for your own board making. The pictures are colorful and the food looks delicious.

The book is broken down into segments that begin with an introduction as to how the book came to be. There is a section on boards and how to take care of them that includes the following information: supporting dishes such as small bowls, other types of kitchen equipment, how to do pretty plating, and quick tips for ingredient prep. There is also a section on Accents + Add-Ons.

The recipes are broken down as follows: Boards for Breakfast, Breads on Boards, Snacking Boards + Salad + Veggie Platters, Dinnertime Boards, and Take it Outside.

My review is voluntary and all comments and opinions expressed are my own.

This is a nice book spreads and boards!

There aren't pictures of each spread, but the pictures included are beautiful. The book has a breakdown in the beginning about ingredients and how to build your board. The sections are based on meals and snacks and a variety of sweet and savory ideas. Some are more traditional like sandwiches, but there are also some unique approaches to finger food spreads.

This is a fun read!

Book: Boards and Spreads: Shareable, Simple Arrangements for Every Meal

Author:Yasmin Fahr

Pub Info: 23 August 2022, Clarkson Potter/Ten Speed Press, Clarkson Potter
Genres: Arts & Photography, Cooking / Food, Home / Garden, Leisure, Hobby

I received an electronic copy of this book on NetGalley in exchange for honest feedback. Thank you to the author, photographers, publisher, and NG.

I am approaching this cooking guide as someone who has just finished a few similar books on NetGalley about food boards. I am wanting to learn how to do these trendy arrangements, mostly for gatherings and parties. I am not really creative on my own, so having some tips/guidance is what I hope to gain from these types of books.

This book promises 65 recipes for platters & boards, dinner worthy spreads, appetizers, breakfast, snacks, and “anytime-eating.” Some of the unique features of these boards include sharing-friendly, family friendly, and meal-specific categories. There is also a range of cuisines like Italian, Mexican, etc. There seems to be about 5-7 or so recipes for different categories. The chapters are 1) Boards for Breakfast, 2) Breads on Boards, 3) Snacking Boards + Salad + Veggie Platters, 4) Dinnertime Boards, 5) Take It Outside, 6) Accents + Add-Ons, 7) Dips, Spreads, and more Fun Things.

The photography is high quality and looks like something straight off a professional food blog.

I think in terms of the doability of the boards… there are some that are above my aims and some that are a good fit. I think they are very colorful, include a lot of healthy foods, promote creativity with the different types of foods and arrangements included.

What I think these boards would be great for – something to take to a party or to make for gatherings. I don’t know how feasible some of these are for regular day-to-day, but I liked what I saw and this would be really good for finicky eaters as well. Full of ideas that aren’t “junk” types of foods.

What a deliciously gorgeous book. Who doesn't love boards filled with yummies for any meal of the day?! I just loved the suggestions for breakfast boards and seasonal boards. Dee-lish!
I can't wait to try the taco board with chipotle-spiced shrimp with alllll of the toppings. Just about every board and recipe comes with beautiful illustrations and ideas with garnishes. Just a delightful charcuterie cookbook all around.

Thank you to NetGalley, Clarkson Potter/ Ten Speed Press and Yasmin Fahr for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.

What I love most about this book are the recipes and ideas. How many times have I looked for new ways to up my board game and still come up short? I needed some inspiration and Social Media can only take me so far…I needed these recipes too! I’m already thinking up new themes with these recipes and can’t wait for our next game night with friends to share some new things.

I love a good board!! This book has a lot of new and different ideas. It has good pictures, descriptions and how-tos. I cannot wait to try the pancake board and the slider board. Everything looks so good and I love that it takes the planning out of doing boards.

This book is on trend with the charcuterie board trend, which I love. The recipes in this book vary away from the traditional boards into some more creative pretty ones. Admitted some didn't need to be boardified, but the visual is nice. The recipe combinations could be great dinner entree combinations.

Pros: With charcuterie boards being all the go, I got many ideas from this book for what to serve when I next host book club or for when I have friends and family over for holidays. My favorite thing about this book is how it includes foods from around the world. It also includes many vegetarian options, and I appreciate cookbooks that consider many eating preferences. The photographs in this book are both inspiring and incredibly helpful for people like me who have a hard time knowing how to arrange things on the board—I might not be able to come up with the idea on my own, but I can follow a photo as a guide.

Cons: None that I can think of . . . except I do suggest having something to snack on while reading!

Thank you to NetGalley and Clarkson Potter/Ten Speed Press for the opportunity to read this book.
