This book is filled with treachery, treason, battle and more.
Cait and Gideon are meant to be together. Gideon is a great warrior who believes that the law of the land is gospel until he meets Cait. His love for her sneaks up on him.
As the new chief of Clan Mackay, Gideon Sinclair knows the importance of maintaining order at any cost. To keep the conquered clan in line, Gideon must mete out ruthless justice or risk losing their precious new peace. But from the moment he meets Cait Mackay—aye, from the moment the sweetness of her lips captures his—all of Gideon’s careful objectivity is well and thoroughly compromised.
Cait knows that kissing the brawny Highlander is a dangerous game. It was bad enough she picked his pocket to feed the children in her care, but sometimes a desperate woman must disguise her crimes any way she can. Only her act of deception has made things worse… Because one kiss with the Highland’s most brutal chief leaves her breathless and out of her depth.
Now Gideon must choose between his duty and his heart when his lovely thief is accused of treason against the king himself.
Heather McCollum has written another good book.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher and NetGalley. This in no way affects my opinion of this book which I read and reviewed voluntarily.

Gideon Sinclair is the third of the Horseman brothers. The MacKay clan has been conquered and he is in the process of trying to bring peace between them and the Sinclairs. Known as the Horseman of Justice he will use his knowledge of law and many years training to judge the actions of others. Our hero tends to see people as right or wrong, no inbetween. He is the ultimate judge.
Cait MacKay is a young widow who has taken in orphaned or abandoned children. She will do anything to keep them fed and healthy, even if it means breaking the law. Our heroine has a few very surprising talents. Keeping her children out of trouble is not one of them unfortunately.
A marvelous, action packed historical romance. Wonderful characters that will keep you hooked in the story from the first to last page. You can read this book on it's own, but I personally think that it's better to read as a series in order. Just because there is so much happening it can't fit into one book. You will definitely want to know about the other Horseman brothers.
I loved it.

This is the third book in the Sons of Sinclair series, and I love these stories. While I I have enjoyed all of the books in the series ( and her others) this one is my favorite so far. I really love the different POV ‘s in this story and getting to know what is going on in Gideon's mind throughout the story. Cait is a strong woman who had an awful marriage but now runs the village's orphan house. She loves all of her "children" and how they love her made the story wonderful. I feel that the children really brought more life to the story with all of the different situations that happened. I feel that the children also played a great part in Gideon's character development. This book really showed more of the effects that the Sinclair's are working through from growing up with their father making them the four horsemen of God. I am really excited for Death's book next. Please hurry.

Thank you NetGalley and Entangled Publishing, LLC for this arc.

I have not read this author before now but was encouraged by the high ratings of the previous 2 books of this series. And maybe I should have backed up and read those before reading this 3rd book.... as I was disappointed with this one.

Gideon, the "Horseman of Justice" fell into insta-love with Cait....
Oh c'mon folks... He was such a rigid stick trying desperately to stick to and live up to his crazy dead father's expectations for himself / his brothers as a "Horseman".

And then there's Cait... Who'd been so abused (mentally and physically) by her dead husband the village left her alone to take in orphaned children, while the village steward tried to lure her into bed with himself. And punishing her for her refusal by withholding chickens he'd been ordered to distribute to the villagers and not fixing her roof.

One evening, she's out with the children playing hide and seek The kids are hiding while she's "twirling about" in a field with snow falling about her when Gideon spots her riding to his new castle. Oops! One of the kids falls into a frozen river trying to hide and rest start squawking interrupting this "magical vision" and Gideon runs off to rescue Willa and carries her home on his horse with the rest of them.

While in Cait's run-down and dinky cottage, Cait takes the opportunity to pick his pocket all the while worrying about her half frozen sister.

And so the story begins...

I read it to the end. I have to admit I laughed at all the plot contrivances. And there were a LOT of them. A king making a visit, too many political machinations to keep up with, charges of treason against most everyone, Cait's not s0 "secret" violent and obsessed admirer yadda, yadda, yadda.

It was a romance, Gideon found some flexibility by the end while Cait found sexual gratification. All's well that ends well.

I received an arc of this book from net galley. This is my opinion and thoughts, and not solicited in any way. First off, I love Heather McCollum. All of her books hit just the right spot between romance, heat and a great storyline. I will not repeat the whole plot since the blurb says that. It can be read alone but would be better to start with the 1st book. The brother's dad was a nut. He convinced them they were the 4 horsemen from the bible. So, each has story.
Gideon was the horseman of justice. He saw either right or wrong, nothing in between. Therefore, he was conflicted at every turn.
This series is very interesting and entertaining. Book 3 is no exception. I loved the characters and how they interacted with each other. Gideon was a very serious man. And although I liked the 1st book the best, this was really good. Plenty of action and steam, with a happily ever after ending. A more of a heartwarming story than the others in my opinion. I give it a 4.00 and recommend the whole series.

Historical Highland romance has long been a favorite romance genre of mine. I love these kilt it Warriors and every opportunity I have to dive into one of their stories I relish. This novel was so sexy and so sweet I really enjoyed this love story from beginning to end!

Awww, I loved this book. It's a fun and sweet read that follows two very worthy people who are perfect for each other. Third ins series (I somehow stupidly missed the first two), it follows third brother Gideon Sinclair as he works to integrate the Mackay clan into the Sinclair clan. Raised by his father to be the Horseman of Justice, his rule has been by the book. Cait Mackay, a strong, compassionate widow is the antithesis of black and white rules of law, but her courage and kindness--and of course her beauty--entrance Gideon.

With Cait's gentle guidance, Gideon slowly begins to reassess what it means to be just. And what good timing: Not long after the two begin a delicate if passionate courtship, trouble--in the form of King James--comes to the castle. Trouble is brewing in the king's contingent, and it threatens to drag Cait and her family of orphans into the middle of it. To make things right, Gideon will have to reconsider what he knows of justice, and Cait will have to learn how to trust someone other than herself.

When you've read thousands of historical romance novels, it's hard to find a fresh take, but author McCollum manages to do it. Gideon at the start is so rigid in what he believes is right, and it's fun to watch his convictions slowly crumble. He's even bumbling at times, but rather than make him seem less, it's just endearing. Cait is also surprising, especially with her talent in aerial silks. To be honest, that talent is a little oddly placed (betcha the author either practices herself or knows someone who does), but as it's a thing in my own household--my son practices the art--it gave me a little squee moment to read about. Fans of the two earlier books will no doubt be thrilled to see Gideon's brothers and their wives again, and I know that I, for one, am very curious to see what fourth brother Bás' story will be.

I received an ARC of this book from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for my honest opinion. Thanks!

Gideon Sinclair is known throught the land as someone who imparts justice. Although the justice he leves is pretty black and white, at least at the start.. When he meets a beautiful young woman in the woods on his way home he has no idea how her and her family are going to shake him out of his beliefs.

Cait is a wonderful woman and defintely one of my new favorite heroines.. She has taken it upon herself to take care of the children who don't have families of their own.. and when her path crosses with Gideon.. and ends up making a deal that will hopefully help him become a little less rigid in his thinking.. and let the people he has taken charge of actually want to approach him, and ask for his help if its needed. She has her work cut out for her.

I love watching Gideon fall in love with Cait.. She is slowly teaching him that its ok to bend sometimes and that enforcing all the rules shouldn't fall on his shoulders alone, and that every single rule isn't always ment to be followed to the letter... They have some amazing chemistry.. the kind that might (cough) break the bed..

They are getting along pretty well, when King James arrives and throws a wrench in the mix.. While some bad stuff goes down, as a result it does force our couple to realize that they can trust each other and do LOVE each other.. Its a really sweet story with some edge of your seat action that makes you not want to put it down until you reach the end..
I can't wait to see whats in store for Bas... I know his story is going to be amazing....

Highland Justice is the third book in Heather McCollum’s Sons of Sinclair series, and it is just as entertaining and romantic as the first two. I am really enjoying this series and find each brothers’ story unique and compelling. Even though they were raised to be the four horseman, a unit each with their own roles, the brothers are very different, and they each go on very different journeys. They are all strong alpha males, and Gideon is no exception.

Gideon, the horseman of justice, has strong morals and an unbreakable sense of right and wrong. He is a rule follower, who sees everything in black and white, and he demands the same from others. I like that his return to integrate his clan and the McKay’s and meeting Cait helps Gideon see that there are sometimes shades of grey. Gideon is a man of duty and honor, and he lives by the rules his father instilled, but he begins to question his father’s dictates.

Cait (love her!) helps Gideon realize that there are sometimes extenuating circumstances that should take precedence over his cut-and-dry rules. She teaches him the benefits of mercy and makes him think about the rules as more than an abstract and how they affect everyone. Even though he’s dead, Gideon’s father still controls him, but Cait and her kids soften him and show him that he doesn’t need to be ruled by his deceased father’s unrelenting expectations and demands.

Gideon grows so much throughout the story and really comes into his own. His relationship with Cait, her kids, and other clan members softens him and makes him more approachable, sympathetic, and respected by the clan. Gideon, in turn, helps Cait learn to trust again, especially when it comes to opening her heart to a potential relationship. They have such a fantastic romance, and their journey together as a couple is as compelling as their individual journeys.

As much as I adore Gideon and his brothers, I also loved Cait and her kids! Cait is a survivor, and she is so strong and courageous. Known throughout the clan as being cold, she knows what to do to protect herself and those she loves, and underneath she is a warm, caring, fiercely protective, and compassionate woman. She also has a super cool and unique hobby that’s pretty impressive and comes in handy. The orphans under her care are also wonderful – strong, brave, and loving, this found family is one of my favorite parts of the story. All of the children are fantastic, and they add so much to the story.

Upon his return, Gideon comes to realize that things are not running the way he expected. He also realizes, especially once the king arrives, that there might be traitors in their midst. This adds a lot of suspense and intrigue to the story as they try to figure out who is working for them and who is plotting against them. And for those of you who read the first books in the series, you’ll be excited to know several of the characters have roles in this book too.

Special thanks to NetGalley, Entangled Publishing, and the author for providing me with a copy of the book in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts are my own.

After reading this story I felt that it was more of a soft story, with all the characters being happy and everyone is merry and not just because of the holiday. I loved that the writer grabbed my attention with Gidieon racing to help one of the children. The books entertainment did well with keeping my attention. The dialogue was clear and understanding. The narrative of the story was clear and also understanding. The romance between Gidieon and Cait was very romantic and very heated. The book was an easy read.

Highland Justice by Heather McCollum (Sons of Sinclair book three)

**I received a copy of the book from Entangled Publishing and Net Galley in exchange for a voluntary and honest review. My opinions are my own and not solicited in any way**

Of all the Sinclair brothers Gideon who is the Horseman of Justice will not know what hit him when he meets Christina MacKay and her little family of orphan children. Her family married her off to an abusive husband and is stealing for not only her own but the people in the village who displease Bruce MacKay the steward. So when she's caught returning money the villagers will be there standing up for her which will surprise Gideon. So he'll use a different form of justice by having her decorate and create a play for Hogmanay with the children and adults of the village.

However, when King James suddenly comes for a visit everyone will wonder why especially since his steward accuses young Jack of treason all of the Sinclair brothers will go to Edinburgh to clear him and expose the real threat to the King.

Great book with wonderful research by the author that makes the story page turning book. Now we'll have to wait for Bas to have his story written.

I enjoyed reading this book. The story was exciting and l kept reading it. I finished it in one session. There was a good story and the characters were all different. The only part l did not enjoy was the description of the killing of the enemy but that was the way people behaved at that time. I do recommend that you read this book.

Highland Justice
Sons of Sinclair #3
Heather McCollum
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Gideon Sinclair is the third Sinclair brother, and he judges everything in stark terms of good and evil. There is no in between, and he is very efficient at passing judgment without mercy. His clan has conquered the warring MacKays, and now he will sort the people, punishing the bad, and bettering the lives of the good. For Gideon passing judgment on someone has always been easy, until he meets Caitlin MacKay, who steals his breath as well as his Sinclair ring.

Catlin MacKay is a young widow. She has no children of her own, but she has given her life over to helping the orphaned children of the clan. She knows love won't put shoes on their cold feet or food in their stomachs, but she'll try. Cait is tired of seeing the rich get richer and poor get poorer. She decided a long time ago that she had to do something to help her household. She's an agile thief of rich by night, and when she is finally caught, the new conquering chief will have to be the one to decide her fate.

When Gidoen realizes that the thief is the same woman who already captured his attention, he hesitates for the first time in his life. But now the village is there on her behalf with only great things to say about her. Letting her get away with it works for both of them when he says her punishment is to help with Hogmany. When one of Caits orphans (an older boy) is accused of stealing from King James and arrested, Gideon has to commit his own crime against the Scottish crown if he is to save the boy and keep Caitlin.

Will Gideon be able to do what he was raised against doing? And will he be free enough in his heart to love Cait? Or will they both get that ripped away by the Scottish crown?

Heather McCollum never ceases to amaze me. Every book is better then the last one. This Sinclair brother is a changed man in this book. He was so in tune with Cait. Ah yes the sweet Cait. I think it rocks that Cait was able to do that lovely show like a ballerina suspended from the fabric. I could see in my head a certain girl doing that so gracefully, that it was like coming home and relaxing. All in all this is one incredible book and I would advise historical readers to give it a try because this is a truly wonderful book. Ms. McCollum I can't wait for Bas's story. I know it's going to be good.

This book was full of action from start to finish! I have not read McCollum's other books but had no trouble keeping track of the larger story, and felt immediately drawn into Gideon and Cait's world. The book touched on serious themes of family legacy while feeling like a fun romp--festivals and raging icy rivers, galloping horses and acrobatic performances! My daughter has performed with fabric/silks for years, so that addition as something Cait did was so exciting for me to read! I loved Gideon's growth throughout the story, and the way his brothers saw and supported him. Would definitely recommend to fans of historical fiction!

This is the third book in the Sons of Sinclair series and follows third brother Gideon and his love interest Cait. I absolutely loved how strong and independent Cait was and seeing the transformation of Gideon throughout the novel. It has action, intrigue and a lot of steamy sex scenes that you would expect with a Scottish historical romance novel and was done well. The one thing I disliked was how the author described private parts during sex (jack?). I would recommend starting the series from book 1 as this book follows events from the first 2 books.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book thanks to NetGalley, Entangled Publishing and the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

If I could give 6 Stars I would!! Book three does not disappoint! Gideon at times is so rigid and almost robotic in his response to everyday living. You come to realize that is all he knows. Living in the Sinclair home as a child was not normal. Plain and simple. Gideon was, according to his late father, the horseman of Justice. He must weld and dispense Justice like a fine oiled machine. That in a nutshell is his personality. A big hunk of a guy, smart, efficient, articulate and mean when needed. Ask the man to partake in polite conversation or show any sign of being human and he becomes more awkward as a cow on roller skates. Enter the beautiful, graceful, loving and cold as ice (to some/most men) Highland Lass! She gets caught doing something and Gideon being the justice in the MacKay Clan has her sentenced to....planning a festival. Right there he knows he is in trouble since he is not thinking straight. She has entered his life and if he has anything to say he is keeping her.

This story has redemption, treason, laughter and of course murder....We get a family reunion with the three other brothers and two of their wives (and babies). This was action packed from the beginning. I can not wait for Bas' story...I wish it was here yesterday!!

Cait has taken up the job of being a mother to the children who have lost their parents or been abandoned. Her and the kids were out in the forest playing a game when Willa ends up falling into the water. It is winter and freezing cold. The strange man who she just met in the forest while they were playing dives in to save Willa. Little did Cait know that the mysterious man was Gideon Sinclair. Gideon thought that Cait was a beautiful woman from the moment he met her. He didn’t expect as gratitude for him saving her sister that he would be robbed. Cait stuck her hand to grab a few of Gideon’s coins while he hugged him. She didn’t know that she was also taking a very expensive ring from him along with coins. She breaks into his castle and into his bedroom. She has almost succeeded in returning the stolen items when he walks in and catches her. The only thing she can think to do is kiss him and what a kiss it turned out to be. What will happen between the two of them after she is thrown into the dungeon? I was given and ARC through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I’ve found that I truly enjoy how this author blends historical fact and legends with her own style, complete with a twist on what to expect from this genre, and this book is no exception. Cait and Gideon gave me such a wonderful push and pull to their chemistry and love that I was sad to hit the end. She’s strong and stubborn and loving and sees the grays of life. He’s strong and stubborn and stuck in the black and white, right or wrong mentality. So these two give each other the balance they never knew they needed while also giving the love and trust and safety that neither thought they were allowed to want.

Gideon is one of the Horsemen…or so his father raised his sons to be. But can justice and compassion live together in his head and heart, or is Gideon doomed to loneliness and living on the outside looking in? As for Cait, she’s crafted an ice Queen persona to remain safe, but there is so ouch beneath the surface of her. Will Gideon cherish and nurture all that is Cait, or will he let her rot on the vine?

You don’t need to read the first two books to know what’s going on here, but I might go back to read them just because I can. These two have a lot to teach each other and the people around them, and the metamorphosis into caring man and abiding woman is a thing of beauty. The best part is that the give and take only causes the trust and love to grow between them, even if they don’t notice it at first.

But now I’m hooked on knowing what comes next. So I have to wait for the Horseman of Death to tell us his tale. I’m sure it will be fantastic.

This story is incredibly entertaining with lots of humor, excitement, tragedy, and the well written heated passion scenes that had my heart pounding and tummy fluttering more than once.
A complex story that involves many delightful characters and some very unpleasant ones such as a king and his entourages unexpected visit. That caused a more than a bit of trouble.
Main plot is discovering the love between Gideon and Cait. Following their romance and watching it grow. Many out loud laughs from their humorous banter. Lots of deception and betrayals that causes a number of bad situations to occur.
Battles are very descriptive, high action and intensely cringe worthy.
A fun and entertaining story to read that had my full attention to the end.
One of my favorite scenes was when the couple visited the castles library.
The acknowledgement from the author at the very end was very interesting and was a treat to read.
I did receive this book early for my honest opinion. It deserves more than 5 stars.
I do highly recommend this enchanting love story for an adult reader.
