What a wonderfully entertaining read! I was instantly transported to medieval Scotland from the vivid descriptions given. I loved the MC’s; Gideon and Cait. Both had difficult lives growing up yet it had not made them bitter. In fact, I think it gave them more compassion which was perfect for their current life situation; Gideon as a judge and jury for the clan and Cait as caretaker of the village’s orphan children. I enjoyed watching their relationship develop. There was witty banter and a sizzling attraction between them. I even enjoyed all the secondary characters! There was even intrigue and danger that was nicely integrated with the romance. I am so looking forward to Bas’ story!
This was my first of the Sons of Sinclair books but it certainly won't be the last. Gideon Sinclair is charged with folding the MacKay clan into the Sinclair clan after events from the previous novels; he is considered the Horseman of Justice, always handing out a sentence to those who are charged with a crime. Cait is a member of the MacKay clan and runs a home for orphans. After a chance meeting, Cait desperately picks Gideon's pockets and upon realizing who he is, she endeavors to return the items before he realizes they are gone. This leads to an unexpected kiss and Gideon understanding that the world is not solely black and white, but that there are areas of grey in everything that happens.
I simply loved this book. Every element worked together in order to keep this a captivating read. The action, adventure, romance, and familial bonds all tied this together so well that it was difficult to put this down for even a few hours to sleep. It helped that both Gideon and Cait were not set entirely on their beliefs but open to hearing how they could be changed or how they were misunderstanding each other. The children that Cait has adopted in the orphan house were an especially sweet part of the book, not becoming cloying or overused.
I can't wait for Bas' story but while that is being written, I'm happily going to pick up the first two in the series and catch up on all the adventure that I missed out on before!

Highland Justice by author Heather McCollum is another top instalment in the Sons of Sinclair series. Both Cait and Gideon's characters portrayed depth and were equally affable. Their chemistry was obvious, yet, didn't overtake the story. This allowed for greater depth in the story. I liked that the story didn't solely focus on their chemistry, which can too often happen in novels to the detriment of a story. But that was not the case in author Heather McCollum's Highland Justice. There was a lot transpiring in the story, which allowed for greater character development and transformation. I liked both Cait and Gideon, and each of the Sinclair brothers who individually provided their own stand-out moment in the read. Bas notably held his own on many occasions, while supporting Gideon in one way or another. A great story with great characters set against the backdrop of the Scottish highlands in a perceived politically charged period.

3.5*
Highland Justice can be read as a standalone but I’d highly recommend reading the previous books in the series first, otherwise you might feel a bit lost with some of the details. I had read the first two books, although I can’t recall much about the first, and not a lot about the second, either, so I felt a bit lost at times.
Overall, this is a good story that will appeal to many lovers of this genre, however, personally, it just wasn’t meant to be a favorite of mine. The characters are strong and likable. Gideon is said to be such a dark and dangerous warrior, but up until the last 20%, we only see a softy. I prefer to see my alphas as dangerous (if that’s what they’re meant to be) and not just told.
The story felt a bit too modern and unrealistic to me as well. Cait had a horrific marriage that up until meeting Gideon, had affected her terribly in different ways. Suddenly, not long after meeting him, her long held issues just disappeared. Everything about their relationship was very easy. There were no major obstacles standing in their way, and no one batted an eye about their open relationship.
Again, still a really good story, I just prefer more challenges, more substance, more suspense in my stories. Will they or won’t they? for example. I do look forward to reading Bas’ story, I hope his book is a home run. He seems like a real dark and brooding man, perhaps more so than his brothers.
My thanks to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing, LLC for the Opportunity to read and review Highland Justice by Heather McCollum.
This novel follows Gideon and Cait as they navigate thievery, festivity planning and treason. I’m telling everyone I know that they need to reason not just this novel but everything else that Heather McCollum has written. I was hooked from the first few sentences
I absolutely adore Cait’s character - she is the perfect mix of gentle as well as strong and determined. Gideon’s character was a sexy (🤪🥵) mix of brooding and a softy

There's something about a good historical romance that sweeps you away to a different time and place in a way that feels magical and mystical. Whenever I pick up a novel in this genre, I want to feel like I've travelled back in time to an era where strong women defy the social norms that dull their brilliance and fierce, dominant men wear civilty as a thin armour to hide their untamed wildness and warrior personas. I am happy to say that Highland Justice delivers this in spades.
The author does a fantastic job transporting the reader to the wild beauty of the Highlands, where we meet the third Sinclair Brother, also fearfully known as the Horseman of Justice, who is now chief of Clan McKay. Much like his moniker, Gideon has spent his entire life maintaining fairness, order and justice for the good of the Sinclair Clan. However, he meets his match in the soft yet fiercely independent Cait McKay, who believes that beauty is found in the messy, colourful & chaotic things in life, rather than in the rigid, black and white worldview that Gideon favours. Because of a crime Cait committed, she is forced to work for Gideon to pay off her sentence, which causes sparks to fly and delcious banter to be had, and Gideon & Cait realize that perhaps there's more to each other than they first realized.
I loved seeing this couple grow from enemies to lovers - my favourite trope. It was so much fun reading about them clashing heads over their differing worldviews. They certainly knew how to challenge each other, and it made for excellent witty banter. I loved that the author made sure both characters had equally valid points in all their arguments, which made the other pause and reflect. It allowed me to appreciate where Cait & Gideon were coming from without picking sides. It also lent itself beautifully to the progression of their relationship, as both learned to respect, appreciate and value each other for their strengths, thus igniting their romance and passion for each other.
The only reason that I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because I felt that there were so many issues and external obstacles the couple had to overcome on top of the conflict they had with each other. This made it confusing for me to follow at some points, especially as the story progressed and all the subplots were coming to its head. I found that I often had to reread some areas to grasp the nuances of the varying conflicts well. I would have preferred to read about fewer conflicts, but with more page time decidated to fleshing those out for the climax of the plot. Please note that this is ofcourse my own personal preference and other readers may not see this as an issue at all.
Overall, I found Highland Justice to be an excellent read, with brilliant characters, a swoonworthy romance, exciting tension, witty banter, intelligent dialogue and thrilling action scenes. If you're a fan of historical romance with enemies-to-lovers, forced proximity and grumpyxsunshine tropes set in 16th century Scotland, then this is definitely one you do not want to miss.
Book 3 of 4 of the four brothers. This is Gideon’s story, the brother of Justice. When he meets Cait, and her group of orphans, he doesn’t know what to think. She helps him see the world of grey, instead of always black and white. Enjoyed this one. Good series, good author, good story. Highly recommend this book, and found it hard to put down.
4.5-5 Stars!! Loved it! I was sooo excited to read this book and it did NOT disappoint!! This series is AWESOME!!! This is book 3 in the ‘Sons of Sinclair’ series and they can all be read and understood as standalones. I read book 2 first and then went back and read book 1 then book 3 and I LOVED each one! HIGHLY recommend this book and this whole series! Strong male and female characters and I can’t resist a good Scottish historical romance. I’m already anticipating the next book in the series!! Can’t. Freakin. Wait!!

If ever an author has found the perfect genre that suits her 100%, it's Heather McCollum! Between her style of writing, her imagination and the inexhaustible research, her stories are amazing. The Sons of Sinclair series just keeps getting better and better and I absolutely adored Gideon and Cait's story.
This story made me laugh, cry, sit on the edge of my seat, gasp, swoon, swear at the bad guys and made me want to smack a king! lol One of my most favourite scenes was the nativity play and Trix dropping baby Jesus (a doll!)....priceless!! My heart went out to Gideon, being judge and jury, not an easy thing to do especially when emotions are involved. As for Cait, such a spitfire but I loved how she cared about the children and would do anything to keep them safe.
On a side note, I have a cousin whose daughter is an aerial silk artist and I've had the pleasure of watching her perform a few times. So, in the story when Cait is "flying", I could picture it clearly. So beautiful and graceful!!

I have been waiting for this story for about a year, ever since I finished book two of the series 🙃 Let me tell ya, Heather McCollum has written another exceptional story! I loved everything about the story, Gideon & Cait are wonderful together.
Gideon was raised by a raving mad father who was convinced his four sons were the 4 Horseman of the Apocalypse. Each son had his role drilled into him from the moment the lad could walk, for Gideon his role was to provide justice--he deciphered wrong doings, plotting, threats to The Sinclair Clan--if he found a person guilty, he then decided the punishment. So he was the law - investigator, banister, jury. and judge - his judgment was never ignored or questioned.
Then he became Chieftain of the Mackay Clan and his world suddenly went from black & white, right & wrong, good versus evil, and the justified versus the unjustified...to a world full of emotion & decisions made under the influence of love. Basically, his neat orderly world was suddenly very chaotic, and there was one Lass at the center of the chaos - Caitlin Gunn Mackay.
Cait is a strong, determined and protective woman. Previously married to a man who did not treat her well, once widowed Cait began taking in orphaned or abandoned children. Cait raised these kids on her own and there was nothing she wouldn't do to help them survive. Its that fierce determination and a mistaken plunder that lead her to Gideon's chamber one night.
The spark between Gideon & Cait leads to a kiss neither of them can forget. That first taste of Cait has Gideon longing for more...but first he has a thief to punish. It just so happens the lass he craves & the thief are one and the same. 🤨
Let me tell ya this book has it all -- two MCs that have spectacular chemistry, the return of characters from previous books, secondary/supporting characters that add extra layers to the plot, hot as hell bedroom action (broken bed anyone?), some small scrimmages where the Sinclair's show their strength, a woman who learns to trust a man with her heart, and a man strong enough to fall in love!!
Perfection!! ❤
Now the wait begins for the next book of the series and I have a feeling that the youngest of the 4 Sinclair brothers, The Horseman of Death, is going to tear our hearts out with his story. 😢
I HIGHLY recommend this book & the entire series, if you enjoy medieval highlander romance-- you will love this series ❤
5 Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ | 5 Flames 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I enjoyed this installment of the Sons of Sinclair series immensely, much more than book 2. Gideon, the third Sinclair brother, is the Horseman of Justice. Because of how he's conducted himself, his people consider their chieftain the Horseman of Judgment. Gideon needs to win them over, and Cait, a young widow, is just the person to help him do it. Cait already has her hands full, running an orphan's home and fending off unwanted admirers. Maybe they can help each other? Their story has passion, adorable antics from the kids, and action. An entertaining read that you won't want to miss.

This is the third book in the Sons of Sinclair series, and I love these men!
I have enjoyed all of the books in the series so far, but this one is my favorite. I love the dual POV with really knowing what is going on in Gideon's mind throughout the story. Cait is a strong survivor of a woman who had an awful marriage but now runs the village's orphan house. She loves all of her "children" and how they love her made the story wonderful. I feel that the children really brought more life to the story with all of the different situations that happened. I feel that the children also played a great part in Gideon's character development. This book really showed more of the effects that the Sinclair's are working through from growing up with their father making them the four horsemen of God. I am really excited for Death's book next.
