On the Same Page by Penelope Janu is a winning read with many likeable elements and notable characters. Miles is a stand out from the start, and Lars is engaging, though prickly in the first instance, he does grow on a reader, becoming likeable in elements despite his ever-changing prickliness.
Great story, and entertaining, Ms Janu never fails to bring the smiles to this reader in the characters, events and settings of a story that she creates, making her hands down, an unmissable author and a must pick in reading choices.

In typical Penelope Janu style, this book had great characters, great storyline, and kept me turning the pages long past bed time. Thanks to NetGalley for a copy of this book!
This was a lighthearted and quick summer novel. The plot line did move along slowly, but follows a rom-com path and was a good read!
Romance writer Emma Browning is taking the world by storm. So much so that she wins a prestigious literary award and has a new Publishing Company working with her, include the handsome Lars. Miles Franklin is Emma's lawyer and has a few problems, the main one being her love/hate relationship with Lars due to the demands he puts on her client (who has never revealed who she is). A great story with Miles trying to keep Emma's identity a secret, dealing with her own demanding parents and the attraction she has for Lars. Some great characters in this novel.
I really tried to like the main character Miles but she had managed to get on my nerves since page 1 and to spoil the book for me. First of all, she can't seem to decide between being extremely shy or extremely rude so she just juggles between the two and that makes no sense at all, personalities just don't function like that. Secondly, she's the most unprofessional and unreliable person I have ever read about, she spends all of her time ignoring people, being all rude to them and making the weirdest unprofessional demands. I spent the majority of the book angry with her, I was constantly disheartened by Miles' lack of veracity and honesty. Besides the heroine's bipolar and annoying personality, the writing style, despite being good, wasn't what I was used to so it just seemed off and left me puzzled most of the time. 2.5 stars rounded up.
Miles is a lawyer by day, but the romance author Emma Browning by night. Lars is the CEO of Iconic and wants to publish Emma's books. The only problem, he doesn't know that Miles and Emma are the same person. Through a whole lot of back and forth, angry emails, and missed phone calls, the romance between Lars and Miles begins to blossom.
If you're looking for a cute romance, this is it. It did exactly what I expected; cute story, happily ever after. Unfortunately, it didn't do much above that.
The good: I enjoyed the writing. The relationships felt real and not forced. Crystal and Pippy were my favourite characters. They were fun and added just a little bit of joy to my reading experience. I liked the ending. I thought it was adorable.
The bad: Sometimes I didn't like Miles. She was a bit annoying. The back and forth. My god. The will they won't they throughout the whole entire thing. The relationship between Lars and Miles changed every chapter. They hated each other, they loved each other, they hated each other, they loved each other. Ugh.
A nice, solid, cute read. I've read better, but I've also read worse.
On The Same Page just wasn’t for me. I’m not a fan of slow burn and this was one of the slowest. I didn’t have any characters I really liked besides maybe Georgiana’s friends from class which had minor roles. The historical romance also wasn’t for me. I felt the flow of the story was also sporadic and somewhat disorganized
Thank you Netgalley and Escape Publishing for the opportunity to read and review this novel.
Thank you greatly, NetGalley, publisher Escape Book & writer Penelope June for supplying me with an e-ARC of this book. I'm penning this review voluntarily in exchange for the e-copy.
I hold varied emotions regarding this one. Up until 30%, the book offered no narrative to hold on to & I was nearly gonna DNF it. Happy I didn't, as the tale then picked up & I just couldn't halt; I read through daytime & nighttime.
I enjoyed the account being set in Australia, a totally unexplored land for me & I got to comprehend it through the eyes of the characters. The personalities propelled the novel in the latter half, forming an intriguing scenario. The conversations were amusing & naturalistic.
Since this is all based on authors, books & publishers, reading the novel got additionally relatable & lovely.
Altogether, this book is a delightful romantic comedy engaging with a good mix of fantasy, companionship & writing.
Ugh!!! SUCH A CUTE BOOK!! I cant wait for more from this author to get published!! The main characters were great and nothing less than lovable!
Medio rari.
I was not a fan of this book. I received this as an ARC and it took me a whole month to read it. The story line was just absolute stubbornness, the love interest was half ass and confusing (like why do they like each other, they’ve barely had an actual conversation), and all the other stuff was fluff.
The only thing I liked about this book was the tiny found family trope that popped into the book at the pole dancing class of all places.
I was so intrigued by the idea of this book and when I actually read the book, I was disappointed :( I do not recommend this book at all.
This was a fun story, with likeable characters. I enjoyed the story and the situations that came with the hidden identity element.
One think I really liked is how Janu is able to make references to classic literary romances within the pages of this book and be subtle about it, without there being any doubt of what she's doing. It's very well done.
Miles and Lars work nicely as characters, and I liked the literary/publishing element.
I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I had a hard time getting into this book at first, but it got better after that.
I had a such a great time with this!🥺🥺 this reminded me why i love YA’s! Characters were done so well so don’t think twice and pick it up!<33
"On the Same Page" is a cute romantic comedy, perfect for a week-end reading marathon. The main character, Miles Franklin, comes from a family of renowned literary artists, but instead of following in her family's trade, she becomes a lawyer. At least, that's her declared job. In her spare time, she writes romance books under the pen name Emma Browning, and everything goes fine... until her assistant signs her up for a book competition.
Overall, the book was a fun and light fun read. I liked how Miles/Emma was joggling her personal life with her work, and secret hobyy. All the characters revolving around Miles/Emma definitely make for good side characters and help understand the MC better, but there are points in the story when it just gets overcrowded.
Special thanks to NetGalley, Escape Publishing, and the author for giving me the opportunity to review the ARC, and to you, my reader, for taking the time to read this honest personal book review.

This is such a cute book. I love how the protagonist is plus size and still enrolled in pole dancing. I also love the idea of her being a lawyer and author with a different name. I really appreciate how this book is not the typical romance books. I also love that we get to see a little bit of historical romance, which I miss because Bridgerton!
I would really love to get a hold of this book in physical form in the near future.
On the Same Page is about a woman who is a lawyer by day but is secretly a historical romance author. After winning an award, Miles has to come to terms with the fact that her secret identity might get revealed.
I love the premise of this novel and I thought the cover and tittle were super cute. Unfortunately the book fell a little flat for me. I found the storyline hard to follow in some places and found the pacing to be a little odd.
There were times when I really liked Miles but there were also times that I could not stand her. Overall, it was a cute romcom. This was 3.5 for me.
Thank you to Netgalley and Escape Publishing for an early copy in exchange for a review.
I could not get into this book, unfortunately. I couldn’t connect with the characters and I had to DNF. I thought the book really had promise story-wise, but the unlikeability of the characters just really pulled me out of this book.
I absolutely love the premise of this novel! The concept is perfect, and I was eager to read it. Unfortunately it fell a bit flat for me, I found the storyline a bit tricky to follow, and I felt like the pacing of the book was a bit off.
I loved the sass of the main character, and I felt like the character development was good. I wanted to love the characters, but their personalities were a bit hard to like, in some places.
Overall, a cute rom-com that was easy-reading.
I would like to thank netgalley and Escape Publishing for a free copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
Enjoyable.
