I really enjoyed the art for this book. It was very appealing to look at, and I loved all the colours.
The story was about friendship, using your imagination, and working together.
I liked the plot, but something about the word choice didn't appeal to me.
It was a cute read, but not a favourite.
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful illustrations
'Walter and Willy' looks at two best friends. Walter dreams of going to space, with the help of his best friend the pair set about finding methods and having fun.
This story is positivity lovely, I love the themes it looks at, such as friendship; space, and helping others. My only criticism is that I felt slightly unfulfilled by the ending, as I thought we'd get a bigger chunk of them experiencing space. However, I can see why the writer did not include this, as the story flowed perfectly.
The language is easy to read with a lot of simple sentences, with makes it suitable for ages six and under. Or it can be read with older readers struggling with language comprehension and fluency, although I wouldn't recommend it.

Thank you so much to netgallery for allowing me to read such a beautiful book.
Walter and Willie in Outer Space, by Bonnie Grubman, is a children’s book about two friends trying to accomplish going to outer space on a rocket ship. The main character, Willy, starts out attempting to meditate his way to outer space with mindful breathing. Willy’s goal is to be the first piggy astronaut.
Walter, his best friend, sees his frustration. Cheerfully, Walter brainstormed and suggested several different ways to fly to outer space. Inadvertently, none of them were successful. The next day, they worked together as a team and started working on a project together using their imagination and creativity.
This is an awesome read for children to learn how to effectively use their imagination, creativity, and belief in themselves to persevere through difficult times and tasks. Moreover, this story teaches them how to work together as a team to accomplish their goals. Also, how to support their peers reach their goals without being intimidated.
The book was colorfully illustrated and was an easy read. It is a great book for children to read for reading skills, bedtime stories, or at school because it is colorfully illustrated as children read by pictures first then words.
A very sweet book about friendship and imagination. The illustrations are so cute and fun. The story is about Willy’s dream to go to the moon and how his friend Walter encourages him and helps him to achieve his dream. They work together to make Willy’s dream come true.
Little ones will love reading about Willy and Walter. The perfect book for future astronauts and other children with big dreams and imaginations.
Thank you NetGalley and Clavis publishing for the opportunity to read this book.
What a cute story about the power of imagination!
I loved that the writer had the children meditate and visualize what they wanted to occur. Though the actual space trip was through the power of pretend, this was a very cute story with great visuals.
All children look at the sky with wonder, and this story captures that.
The artwork was beautiful and initial story line about brotherly imagination was too cute! However the ending seemed really abrupt and I can see a child being disappointed that there wasn’t more about what they saw on the moon. That is why my rating isn’t higher.
Willy the frustrated piggy wants to be the first of his species in space, and not even Walter his friend's help is good enough in achieving that. Until... A friendly, cosy read about two pigs proving what a bit of creative thinking, imagination and staying power (both with the friendship and with the task at hand) can do, it's kind of let down by an ending that's almost on the lame side. It seemed to be building to a joke or twist, but no. Three and a half stars as a result.
This is the second Walter and Willy book we read with my daughter, and she keeps talking about them so I think this is a good sign.
These piglets are usually up to some fun adventure: the last time they went to a big city, and now they want to be the first piggy astronauts in outer space. They are building their own space rocket so guess what we'll have to do right after we finish reading the book: paper boxes are all over the place now, and we are ready for launch!
This is a cute book with lovely illustrations, and will keep your child (and yourself) busy on a rainy afternoon.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Clavis Publishing for this Advance Review Copy.
Very cute and fun read! Takes me back to how I would play growing up before technology. Love the pictures and creativity.
A story not just about outer space but about brothers sticking together and playing together. I thought it was very cute and very rereadable.
