All the clues point to Mia Turner, but Nelson Rivers wonders if it could all be a set up.

A fast paced read with escalating stakes and suspense. I was quickly drawn into this book, as Nelson and Mia work together to clear her name. There was non-stop action and it kept me guessing throughout.

Nelson and Mia are both likable heroes, and I liked that they bonded over their shared faith. There is a lot going on to keep them on their toes, making it a book that I didn't want to put down!

Overall, a fantastic read from beginning to end. Great start to a new series, with an engaging plotline and fantastic characters.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

This one was a miss for me. I managed to finish because it was a review book, but I never clicked with the characters and I found the conversations often stilted and unrealistic, such as having characters’ conversation to explain concepts to other characters in the same career (conversations that would either never happen or be met with serious eye rolls in real life), etc. There were also a number of scenarios that seemed to be really a stretch for my believability.

I’ll read more of this author and series later on, but this book in particular just wasn’t for me.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for a free reading copy. A favorable review was not required.

Detection Detail is the first book that I have read by Terri Reed and it certainly won’t be the last. Detection Detail is the first book in the Rocky Mountain K-9 Unit series. I couldn’t put it down, it grabbed me from the very first page. Detection Detail is the perfect blend of romance, suspense, and faith. It is about evidence found at the scene of a fiery crash that points to a woman who was accused of arson years ago but was found not guilty that leads K-9 officer and his K-9 partner to her door. It soon becomes apparent that someone is trying to frame her her again and is also trying to harm her or kill her. It is up to her and the K-9 officer and his partner to work together to get to the bottom of everything and also to stay alive long enough to catch a killer. I highly recommend this this book if you are a lover of romantic suspense with some faith thrown in.

Detection Detail by Terri Reed is a K9 romantic suspense. This is the first book in the Rocky Mountain K-9 Unit series. The author introduced several co workers for Nelson and I had a hard time keeping up with all of them. However I look forward to other books with them and it didn’t take away from the story.

Nelson and Diesel (great name for an accelerate detection dog) were investigating a car fire. A very interesting lead, that I will not spoil for you, leads them to Mia. The car fire and the victim that is in a coma is an underlying theme that I think will go through several books. This book focused on Mia who is investigating on her own a fire that her best friend is serving time in jail for. Mia is convinced that she is innocent. She receives several threats against her as she gets closer to the truth.

Although the ending was not a surprise I thoroughly enjoyed these two characters and Diesel. I would recommend the book if you like a great story and don’t mind not being surprised by the ending.

This is a Romantic Suspense, and this is the first book in the Rocky Mountain K-9 Unit series. The characters was so great and loved all the characters. This book is fill of twist and turns with a ton of action. I love the action and suspense in this book. The romance was really little. The suspense and action was most of this book. I really enjoyed this book, and I also love their was a mystery that the main character was trying to solve on her own while the current stuff is going on. The end was so good, and I loved the ending so much. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Love Inspired Suspense) or author (Terri Reed) via NetGalley, so I can give an honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.

Mia is trying to figure out who framed her and her best bestfriend long ago leaving her with a bad name and her best in jail for something they didn't commit. When another fire close by occurs K-9 officer Nelson River and his dog look into Mia. What he didn't expect for her a person person to be trying to gun her down and after threats just a mess and they'll do everything they can to figure out who is behind all of this.

I loved how much of a loyal friend Mia was. But then again it could also be the constant reminder of how much of an outcast those in her hometown was treating her. Mia was only trying to figure out what happened in the past and to help her friend and it seemed like the deeper she got into things the worse it kept getting for her. It was interesting seeing how the process when with her and Nelson diving deeper into the case. I loved that there was plenty going on to keep me hooked and it was overall an enjoyable read.

Detection Detail by Terri Reed, is the first in a new series, Rocky Mountain K-9 Unit, written by multiple authors. Ten years earlier, Mia Turner was accused by her hometown as an arsonist even though she was acquitted by a jury. When Officer Nelson Rivers and his accelerant detection dog, Diesel investigate a suspicious car fire, they head straight to Mia. When they arrive at her house, someone is shooting at her house and he jumps in to assist. If she is guilty of the car fire, why is someone targeting her? Nelson begins to question his suspicions. The book is filled with suspense, mystery and a budding romance. I recommend this book for those readers who enjoy a good mystery, suspense, and clean romance, an easy read.

Review:
In reading Detection Detail, I found a new author to follow. And hopefully, I haven’t read the last of Diesel.

This is the first of the Rocky Mountain K-9 Unit series, each to be written by a different author. The series is from Harlequin’s “Love Inspired Suspense” group. Their tag: Courage. Danger. Faith. This first book certainly meets that criteria.

There are multiple mysteries and thus, suspense throughout the book. Yes, there is a romance brewing during all the suspense but the swirling multiple situations that has Mia’s life falling apart — not to mention, shooting at her just as Nelson & Diesel arrive. The plot and the pacing kept me reading. At least I got a load of laundry in before being trapped in my recliner.

The POV is told from both Mia and Nelson — would love to know what Diesel thought.

For me, a five-star book must have rich characters. Ones I can see in my mind’s eye. And characters becoming people I like. Puppy dogs are always a plus. Terri Reed does a great job in developing Mia and Nelson so that you understand why both are skittish about fully trusting each other. Even though I figured out the ending before the end — I didn’t know *how* it would end.

The character’s Christian faith is just there. By that I mean, it is part of them and never feels like the author thought, “Oh, I better put something Biblical here.” That’s always a plus for this reviewer.

Amazon lists the coming books in this series – each being published about a month apart:

Book 1: Detection Detail by Terri Reed
Book 2: Ready to Protect by Valerie Hansen
Book 3: Hiding in Montana by Laura Scott
Book 4: Undercover Assignment by Dana Mentink
Book 5: Defending from Danger by Jodie Bailey
Book 6: Tracking a Killer by Elizabeth Goddard
Book 7: Explosive Revenge by Maggie K. Black
Book 8: Rescue Mission by Lynette Eason

Terri Reed has given us an enjoyable suspenseful book with a bit of romance thrown in. Yes, I recommend Detection Detail, the first book in this series.

I received a complimentary e-ARC copy of Detection Detail via NetGalley from the publisher, HARLEQUIN – Romance (U.S. & Canada), Love Inspired Suspense. A positive review was not required; the opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

Judged and ostracized in her small town since she was a a teenager, Mia’s just trying to keep her business afloat. A lead in an arson case brings officer Nelson Rivers to her front door, just as a shooter takes fire at her home. Two cases being investigated, and threats on Mia’s life lead to a suspenseful read.

"Detection Detail" is a romantic suspense novel. It's a start of a new series and brings up other mysteries to be solved (like the burned car) as well as the mystery that was solved in this book. Mia's determined to prove her friend innocent of arson and free her from prison, but she can't seem to make any progress. Just as Nelson drops by the question her about her hair being found at a crime scene, someone attacks her--a rival who wants her to close her business, or someone worried she might find that proof?

The suspense was created by repeated attacks on Mia, including a few attempts thwarted by the accelerant-detection dog. The main characters were likable and reacted realistically to events. Mia and Nelson worked together to solve who really set the long-ago fire while Nelson helped keep Mia alive. There was no sex or bad language. Overall, I'd recommend this enjoyable romantic suspense.
