There were a lot of things about this book which bothered. Two characters who have known each other for a large portion of their lives know very little about each other, but readers are supposed to believe they have each secretly loved the other. The entire book, which begins with a trial and quasi-forced marriage, involves the two characters not communicating while making assumptions against the other and holding grudges. The book was not enjoyable and I found myself thankful that it was at least a fast read.
The baby was conceived out of love at least on her part and then everything fell apart. Her brother is in jail for embezzling money from her lover and his best friend and Alejandro is determined to get his pound of flesh until he sees her almost full term with his baby.
Now he wants to marry her to have his baby and heir and he's willing to let her brother go free in return. It's a no brainer for Flora but the baby has decided he's ready to come now. Alejandro rushes her to the hospital, holds her hand through it all and brings her and his son home. What does the future hold for them?
Will their love stand a chance? or will Alejandro's rejection of his lifetime friendship with Flora's brother forever separate them.
The book is a nice read as the story plays itself out with a curved balls to keep it all interesting.
Billionaire Alejandro completely ghosts Flora after their night together, thinking she used him. They see each other at her brother's trial where Alejandro realizes that Flora is pregnant with his child. He agrees to drop the charges against her brother, if she marries him. After a rocky start, they are happy together until an apparent betrayal and Flora leaves. Truths come out and I just really enjoyed this HP. There is spice (more than usual), jealousy and romance. A great HP if you like them.
Flora Hillier has been in love with her brother's best friend Alejandro for years. Just as their mutual attraction leads to a passionate encounter, Alejandro feels betrayed by both siblings and backs away. Nine months later Flora has another chance to reunite with Alejandro, now the father of the baby she is about to give birth to. In Claiming His Baby at the Altar, these two vulnerable and deserving new parents find their way back to love and a promising future together. I enjoyed this charming romance and these well-drawn characters.
This is Ramos and Flora’s story. Flora is pregnant after one night with Ramos. He tries to cut her from his life because her brother stole from him. She shows up at the trial ready to give birth. He offers her a deal. Marry him and he will drop the charges against her brother. She gives birth right after the wedding. They cohabitate in his mansion with their son. She is treated like a guest instead of the lady of the house. They try to make a go of there marriage but he is reserved. Something drastic has to happen. I read the book in one sitting. Michelle Smart is a wonderful author.
I really enjoyed this book by Michelle Smart. It was very well done and I would definitely recommend this book to anyone
2.5 stars. I appreciated how quick this book went but there could have been more meat. Also, I found the addition of her being into him since she was 13 and he was 20 creepy but at least they didn't try to make it like he was into her before she turned 21. I didn't hate Ramos but I wasn't a fan.
All in all, quick and enjoyable. Took me back to the Harlequins I would sneak back in the day
Rating 2.5
Hero and heroine have known each other for over a decade. Alejandro and the heroines brother are best friends from college. Flora, our heroine has always been very aware of Alejandro.
We open with a court room scene, Flora's brother has stollen from Alejandro. Oh and she's pregnant as well, Alejandro's of course. Kind of cute how she lets him know that he's going to be a daddy. You see Flora 8 month ago had gone to Alejandro bedding for mercy for her brother and the two ended up in bed together. That morning Alejandro saw something that made him believe she slept with him as a way to manipulate him for leniency for her brother, he was used. She leaves with no knowledge of what he saw and from that moment on he ghost her. When she find out she's pregnant she tries to let him know that she's pregnant and isn't able to reach him. Sooooo in the court room when he arrives just before the trial starts she stands up looks at him and points to there very pregnant belly and lets him know, yep you are going to be a daddy.
Well that was the opening scene. From there the two of course get married. They have a lot of animosity between the two, both have a lot of daddy issues. One dad was a major cheater and the other has been married four and five times and is a major playboy.
Alejandro and Flora do a one eighty during the birth of their baby, they are beyond excited for their son's birth and share in the joy. The next couple months the two work together to care for their son and establish a friendly routine of sorts. Another side note, Flora is going through the baby blues during this time and seems to have a lot of body issue. I didn't really care for the way that played out. Flora seemed to be focused on it too much and compared herself with all of Alejandro's past model girlfriends. I just found it distracting to the story line, it dragged on for a bit. Okay back to the story here. After Flora has established a routine for the little guy Alejandro then goes back to full swing work mode. They relationship between the two shifts again, it's back to a more distant and cordial relationship. Flora is struggling with body issues and wondering if Alejandro is with other woman while he's gone. The two don't really communicate until the end of the book, which I found frustrating. Once they open up and clear things up they get their HEA.
Here are some of the issues I had with this love story.
~It was confusing at times, the flow wasn't there. Characters acted out of character through sections of the story line.
~Flora's body issues, done in a manner I found off putting. Could have been written differently.
~Not safe. He fell for her when she was 21 but had lots of girlfriends and a mistress during their one night stand.
~Flora's character wasn't very likable to me. She seemed like a very unhappy person to me.
~He was a man whore and had glimpses a guy with more depth but that didn't show up that much throughout the story.
~Wish they had more open conversation earlier in the story.
I normally really enjoy this author writing and books, but this one didn't work so well for me.
Will continue to read her books, knowing that you can't always have a home run. 😊
