The goal of the book is to introduce a new lens in which to see the parable of the Good Samaritan using today's contemporary preoccupations: race, oppression, divisiveness, and looking for an "enemy" or to analyze who the Samaritan can be in today's society. It is up to the reader if this will satisfy or enhance their appreciation of this simple story where Jesus instructs that we should imitate the good works of the Samaritan. It is not a straightforward read, but bloated with a lot of footnotes and references that is almost an exercise in itself. This is perfect for those who want to see social justice themes applied to religious works.
