I am agreeing with the other reviewers that this book fell flat for me. I am giving three stars because about 1/4 through 1/2 of the book, it was really good and I thought to myself, now it is going to take off, but I was extremely disappointed because at about 3/4 of the way through the book it took a turn and it NEVER redeemed itself. I cannot explain what really disappointed me about the book because it would totally spoil the book, but I have to say I cannot believe that anyone would buy into the last 1/4 of the book. NO way. I am disappointed as the blurb was good and those chapters in the middle I LOVED. A weak 3 stars.
I went into The Movie Star with really high expectations. The blurb sounded great, other books by this author were decently rated, I had no reason to think this would be any different. However, this read kinda fell flat for me. The first few chapters of it were great and I was drawn in. I enjoyed that Simone had built a business for herself and was an independent woman. I was excited for the redemption arc I assumed Chris would go on when he started out, so Hollywood entitled. But in the end, they were both kinda meh. Simone came off mean and unreasonable at times when Chris was trying, and we didn’t get the journey for Chris. To the point that it felt like he was acting all the time and I never knew which was the real person.
There was also no real connection between the two of them. I didn’t get any chemistry; everything was based off one night from a decade ago. The story was really lacking the connection for me, I wanted more but it felt like it never took off. The story kinda dragged and there was little chemistry. Sadly, The Movie Star was just not for me.

This book had all of my favorite things; small towns, old flames, a movie star who Just Can't Forget the small town girl he met when he was young. While I loved the concept of this book (I mean honestly, who wouldn't want a big-time movie to film in their lil town), I wasn't ever able to get fully immersed in the story. The characters' relationship fell flat for me, and I just didn't ever feel the earth-shattering chemistry I crave from romances like this. This book would be the perfect airport read; a sweet story that helps you pass the time, but probably won't end up on your top 5 list.
No connection. There are such great elements in characters but the set up in the plot is there is crude bantering, (which maybe flirting?) then Chris leaves town for months without any contact. He shows up on restaurant night opening and there is a wedding set up. I like Christian authors and purity before marriage but "courting" seems a bit better dialogue than either her sister or mother's marriage. Kissing isn't a sin. Lots of promising secondary characters but timeline doesn't flesh them out, just jumping into stages of their lives.
The best we get is daisies and rating the Chris celebrities instead of a connection.
