Title: Lycanthropy and Other Chronic Illnesses
Author: Kristen O’Neal
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

This book was a quick read, and gave off Crossroads Vibes (Dating myself here). I liked the telling of Priya’s life before and after. I felt like the storytelling was very detailed but lacked something. It was a story about friendship big or small and how seeing past someone’s afflictions was all they might need. Friendships can be with people right next door or miles away. Just being able to have a real connection with people who understand or help your thrive when your just surviving.

The telling on how going from a uncomplicated life as Priya had to needing help with simple things was very good. I liked the contrast of before, during, and after. This was a story about acceptance and not giving into self pity. I overall enjoyed it, but felt it lacked the real feel of the POC perspective sporadically.

Thank you to The Author, NetGalley and Quirk Books for this EARC in exchange for my honest review.

Even though I can't tell you most of the characters or plot points of Hold Me Closer Necromancer anymore, I feel like this is a spiritual successor.

Definitely YA friendly. If you're a serious grown up who hasn't spent a lot of time in chat rooms, you may be flummoxed a bit by the discord chats but that dialogue kept the book moving and was so funny.

This ARC was provided to me via Kindle, Quirk Books and by #NetGalley. Opinions expressed are completely my own.

The trauma of chronic illness is often hard to express, this isn’t the case here.
