The Diva Says Cheesecake! by Krista Davis. A book by Krista Davis is a fun, enjoyable way to spend an afternoon. Grab her latest from any of her series and enjoy!
It was great visiting with Sophie and her crew of friends again. I loved how she and Nina did a lot of the sleuthing together that involved dog walking, but Soph still went out on her own enough to keep her friends worried about her. Sophie's got an amazing network of awesome friends and I love that she's got a good relationship with her ex as well.
Sophie's also a smart lady who only ends up in weird situations because she's so driven to get to the truth. She's actually the only main character in a cozy that I haven't wanted to fix up with one of the guys because Mars, Bernie and Wolf already are there for her. She had her dating spree with Wolf and stayed friends with him too which turned out great for her.
I had my eye on someone I thought whodunit from fairly early and just kinda watched it play out trying to stick to my choice, and it ended up being right! This mystery was so good and full of twists that I could picture it as a light-hearted mystery movie. I've really come to like Natasha's mom, Wanda, Charlene and Griselda who's Wanda's business partner. Poor ole Natasha just can't win though, lol and she honestly without trying does provide a lot of the comedy relief. Don't miss this fun and sometimes funny fifteenth installment of the Domestic Diva series for sale this coming Tuesday, May 31, 2022.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book provided by Kensington Cozies via NetGalley, and my opinions are my own.
Someone murdered Tate and left him in the basement of his restaurant surrounded by bottles of wine. His wife, Bobbie Sue who has hired Sophie to cater a big party for her implores her to solve the murder as well. In true cozy tradition, Sophie, along with her friend and employees, sorts through all the secrets and enemies to find the real villain. I've only read one book in this series but it's got all the elements to make it immediately accessible and enjoyable for fans of the genre. Sophie is a good character and she's got moxie. And good recipes! Thanks to netgalley for the arc. A fun read.
The Diva series by Krista Davis is one of my favorites. I love the characters who feel like old friends, the setting and reading about all of the delicious meals and desserts that Sophie is making for her friends. The mystery flows so effortlessly into the story of everything that is going on in Old Town. When I'm reading this series I feel like I am there with Sophie and Nina investigating right along with them. There were several suspects that kept the story moving and the reader guessing. I can't wait for the next book in this great series!
I received a complimentary copy of this ebook from the publisher through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
This is a well written cozy mystery, the 15th in The Domestic Diva series. Sophie and her friend Nina are back, along with her ex husband Mars and his friend Bernie.
Sophie is catering a midsummer event for the Queen of Cheesecake, Bobbie Sue Bodoin, in Old Town Alexandria, a cute village in the DC area. Her husband owns a well known restaurant, and when he’s a no show for her event, she and Sophie go to there only to find his body in the wine cellar.
Unfortunately, Sophie’s friend Bernie, who also owns a successful bar/restaurant, is arrested for the murder. She knows he couldn’t have done it, but there’s evidence against him. Sophie and Nina are determined to clear his name and find the real killer.
The characters are well written and the plots are intriguing, it’s not easy to guess the killer! I recommend this book and the series, 4.5 stars.
Old Town Alexandria has two fabulous restaurants in friendly competition. One of them is the Laughing Hound owned by Bernie, Sophie Winston’s close friend. The other restaurant owner, Tate Bodoin is found murdered after a Mid Summer Nights Dream event. The evidence stacks up heavily against Bernie and he is arrested for murder. Sophie and her friends investigate to prove Bernie’s innocence, sharing lots of yummy cheesecake along the way.
Event planner Sophie Winston is busy planning a couple of different events sure to be a hit in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia. One of her clients is the renowned cheesecake baker Bobbie Sue Bodoin. Shortly after Sophie aorganizes a Midsummer Night party for her, Bobbie Sue’s husband, who is a local restauranteer, is murdered and his body is found in his wine cellar. As sad as this is, things get worse when evidence seems to point to one of Sophie’s best friends, Bernie Frei. Bernie insists he’s not guilty and had no reason to kill Tate, so Sophie and the rest of their group of friends are determined to prove his innocence.
This is the fifteenth book in this series, but it’s still perfect for readers who haven’t read any of the prior books. The murder case stands on its own, and there is enough background information given to catch everyone up on the main characters. In this case, there is evidence linking Bernie to the murder, but he’s probably the least likely to have killed Tate. The investigation goes in circles for a while as Sophie, with a lot of help from her best friend Nina, does a lot of digging for evidence that will help Bernie. Tate had many enemies in town, so the hardest part for Sophie isn’t finding other suspects - it’s figuring out which of the many people with a motive actually committed the crime!
This series has it all - an interesting setting, likable characters, and plenty of humor. Sophie and her “frenemy” Natasha write competing domestic advice columns and Sophie’s down-to-earth tips she shares with readers reflects her relatable character as much as Natasha’s shows hers with her impractical, sometimes judgmental advice. I don’t care for Natasha’s character, but she’s meant to provide both a foil to Sophie and some comic relief. There are also recipes at the end of the book, but most are way too complicated for my limited cooking skills to attempt!
The best part of the series to me are the core group of characters - Sophie, Nina, Bernie, and Sophie’s ex-husband and close friend Mars. I love how they are always there for each other in any situation. Every time I read one of the books in this series, I feel like I’m hanging out with old friends. Unfortunately, I’m not able to sample all the delicious foods they share including all the varieties of cheesecake mentioned in this book! 4.5 stars rounded up.
I received this ebook from NetGalley through the courtesy of Kensington Books. An advance copy was provided to me at no cost, but my review is voluntary and unbiased.
This is one of my favorite series because I can relate so easily to Sophie and her life; it's like coming home again when I read one of these. The mystery was well paced and, while I figured out early on who the killer was, I enjoyed the ride so much. I love how her friends always come together to discuss the story and she always has a stocked fridge to feed them. I can't wait to see what they get up to next.
A good mystery! Who killed Tate? He was a great guy and loved by everyone. Then who would want to kill him? Sophie and the gang are determined to figure it out because Bernie is the number one suspect. They all know he didn't do it, but there are so many secrets. Who did it?
Do you like cheeecake? Do you like cozy mysteries? If the answer to these two questions is “Yes”, then you will likely enjoy this book.
Tate Bodoin has died. Sophie Winston, owner of Old Town’s most well-known cheesecake store, had found the body. Now Sophie was a suspect. To clear her name she would need to “help” find the real culprit.
Besides being a very readable cozy, the author also includes excerpts from two local advice columnists within the story and some tasty recipes (both cheesecake and more) at the end of the book. This reader would not try them all, but several are eye-catching and worth considering for a future treat. Between the cozy and the recipes, I give this book four stars.

I'm a huge fan of The Diva series by Krista Davis. Her books never disappoint. Each release is like a much-needed long weekend with a very good friend.
“The Diva Says Cheesecake ” the 15th instalment in the Domestic Diva Mystery series by Krista Davis. Entertaining guru Sophie Winston is faced with a midsummer nightmare when a celebration in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia, is the appetizer for murder…
I really enjoy this series and must read the few books I have missed. Even though I haven't read all the earlier books I was able to follow along, so this can be read as a stand alone book.
I really like Sophie, she is relatable, interesting and I love her relationship with her BFF Nina and her ex Mars as well as several other residents of Old Town. I liked how the characters were there for each other, no matter what was happening.
The mystery itself was interesting, full of twists and turns, red herrings all of which completely drew me into the story. I didn’t want to put the book down and read it till the wee hours.
I highly recommend this book to all my cozy mystery loving friends.
I requested and received an Advanced Readers Copy from Kensington Books and NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
The Diva series is what introduced me to the genre of cozy mysteries and I have loved them since and always look forward to the newest Diva book and catching up with all the characters in Old Town, Virginia.
The Diva Says Cheesecake! didn't disappoint Krista Davis' loyal readers. Sophie finds herself caught up in solving another murder mystery when a local restaurant owner is murdered and Sophie's good friend Bernie is the prime suspect. The reader is introduced to the victim's family and friends who are wonderfully added new characters and the reader is kept guessing who did it.
My favorite portion of each of the Diva books is the beginning of each chapter that has an advice column from Sophie or her friend-enemy Natasha. I also love the recipes. Readers will love the newest in this series and I hope that Sophie and her friends have many more adventures. (I also hope Sophie and Mars get back together.)
All opinions are my own, but I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley.
Old Town’s midsummer events are getting a tasty addition this year. To coincide with a public performance of Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” Bobbie Sue Bodoin, the Queen of Cheesecake, has hired Sophie Winston, to organize a dinner with a dessert buffet on the waterfront. Bobbie Sue has only one menu demand: no cheesecake! But her specialty isn’t the only thing missing from the evening, Bobbie Sue’s husband, Tate is not attending the festivities either. But when Tate’s dead body is found, Bobbie Sue states her innocence, and begs for Sophie’s help finding the real killer. Can Sophie find the murderer before another body is found?
This cozy mystery was a tasty edition to my reading list. I loved reading about all the wonderful food created by the main character. I enjoyed reading about Sophie, and how she uses her intelligence to thwart the culprit. I tried to figure out the killer’s identity, and was fooled, and delightedly surprised at the end. This series is one of my favorites, and I recommend it to mystery lovers. Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Publishing for this advanced reader’s copy. This review is my honest opinion.
Another great book...keeps you in suspense, when you think you know you are like nope!!!

The characters are delightful and the stories fun to read as well as providing mysteries to solve
the plot kept me guessing and it’s always fun to get the recipes at the end
The Diva Says Cheesecake by Krista Davis (A Domestic Diva Mystery #15) 5 stars
Sophie Winston, event planner and advice columnist is planning a dinner with a dessert buffet for Bobbie Sun Bodoin, the Queen of Cheesecake. This event is to thank her employees for all their hard work. Only one things mars the party, Tate, Bobbie Sue’s husband is a no show. The next day, Tate is discovered dead in the basement of their restaurant. Since the spouse is the usual suspect, Bobbie Sue asks Sophie to look into the matter. The circumstances get even more difficult, when one of Sophie’s friends in also on the suspect list. Can Sophie find the real killer before her friends end up in jail?
I have been reading the Domestic Diva Mysteries sporadically for a while, but I have read books from her other series and loved them. She is a wonderful writer who can craft a mystery with great attention to detail. The winning combination of a well-crafted mystery and engaging characters that you wish you knew guarantees a fun read. The ending was action packed and the killer got his comeuppance. I cannot wait for the next book in this series.
Thank you Netgalley and Kensington Books for this ARC.
Did somebody say cheesecake? Yes, please. Here we are with the fifteenth book in the delightful Diva series and, as usual, it was a great escape. In this puzzle, Sophie is asked by Bobb Sue Bodoin to heop find her husband, Tate. When they track him down it's to find him dead in the cellar of his restaurant, Blackwell's Tavern. It's a case of murder. Soon enough Sophie and her friend Nina are investigating because the police have put their friend, Bernie, at the top of the prime suspect list. Sophie is a true friend and she will do everything in her power to clear Bernie.
If you are new to this series, don't worry about starting with The Diva Says Cheesecake. Just be warned - you will want to get your hands on the first of the series and play catchup. Yes, the series is that good. Sophie is the kind of character I would like to have for a friend, in good times and in bad, she'd be there for you. The supporting cast is great and the setting of Old Town in Alexandria, VA is beautiful. Each mystery is a complex puzzle with enough twists and turns to keep the reader puzzled to the great reveal. I will always have a spot on my "must be read" list for any mystery written by Krista Davis.
My thanks to the publisher Kensington and to NetGalley for giving me an advance copy in exchange for my honest review.
Sophie Winston is a busy event planner who also has a knack for solving mysteries. Therefore, when a client's husband turns up dead, she now wants Sophie to find the killer.
I always enjoy my time with Sophie and her friends and I've been a fan of this series from the start. There is a great set of characters that work together to unravel what has happened and support each other. Furthermore, chapters often end on mini-cliffhangers, which I find enjoyable, and I get immediate satisfaction since the rest follows in the next chapter. Warning, this story will make you hungry for cheesecake on more than one occasion. Fortunately, some recipes are included.
Thanks to Kensington and NetGalley for an ARC. The opinions expressed are my own.
I LOVE this series. Definitely my favorite cozy mystery. Each book is like hanging out with friends. I also love cheesecake so this was a big win for me.
Sophie is working a party hosted by the Queen of Cheesecake. When the host's husband doesn't show up, Sophie and Nina get involved in trying to find him. He turns up dead in his restaurant and Bernie is the chief suspect. Sophie and her friends know Bernie couldn't have murdered anyone, but someone is out to frame him. Many suspects, lots of characters and a good plot make this a great book. Love this series and it keeps getting better!
I received a free copy of this book from Net galley in return for an honest review.
