Super fun and creative. Small repetitive words are interspersed with larger words at a good pace to help build confidence in a new reader, and there is just enough print to move kids up from simpler picture books. The story is delightful and balances the notions of comfortable familiarity and bold adventure in a gentle way. Simple art makes the illustrations clear and engaging.

Before I started to read this book I was a bit skeptical how a book with its main character as a piece of lint was going to be interesting. I found this book to be super cute, a fast read and intriguing. I couldn’t put it down. I loved Linty and all his friends.
Good for any age. Would be great for a classroom or library.
The pictures that went with the book were simple yet well done. I really liked all the bright and bold colors as well.
Overall, I would read more by this author. I would love to see other adventures with Linty or his friends in the future.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an electronic copy to read in exchange for an honest review.
This is a great graphic novel for a beginner. Linty is a little ball of lint who discovers the world outside of their pocket. It's cute and funny. The text is simple and would make hesitant readers feel successful.
This was a cute graphic novel about a piece of lint and his exciting day-to-day life, or at least he thinks it is exciting until one fateful day.
The illustrations in this novel were great and super detailed. My favorite panels were the washer and dryer and the bedroom scene near the end. This book made me chuckle a couple of times, "Marco?"
Highly recommend.
Linty's life is very routine - his pocket has always been the same, but his life changes when the boy the pants were waiting for finally grows into them! Soon Linty is sharing his pocket with a vast assortment of items, and they'll have to face the washing machine!
This was a very quick read, and the art style was really cute! I think it's a sweet message that getting out of your routine can lead to new opportunities, even if it seems scary at first. I think the kids in my life would really like it!
Who knew that the dregs of my pocket could warm my heart so much? In Linty, readers are taken on a brief fantastical adventure as a ball of lint discovers that his world could be so much bigger with friends and a little adventure. This story made me and my children giggle with the different 'friends' making an appearance with Linty in his pocket and the tense scene in the dryer with the lint trap. Don't worry, it all turns out okay in the end and we see that leaving our comfort one can be so much more rewarding than a life spent doing what's "safe". This is definitely a book to have on your shelf for a repeat read by kids and adults alike!
Unfortunately this children's book about Linty's adventures wasn't really my taste. It wasn't particularly funny, didn't really have a story, and also the artwork was not for me. However I assume many children will like it.
Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC!
An excellent book for children to teach them how much bigger our world gets when we go out of our comfort zone. We start with meeting linty who is living all alone in the pocket of a pair of jeans. While linty is living a good lift he doesn't realize how much better it can be. Linty gets to meet a zany group of friends who right away he is unsure of. He slowly warms up to them and has the best day of his life. We later see him scared to live his comfort zone, but once he does he finds his friends again.
I think this is a great story for the kinder / early elementary school age child. There are great lessons in the book plus the illustrations are fantastic and the characters are pretty funny. Reading this book I knew the children in my life would have a good laugh at several parts.
Will definetly be purchasing this once it is out.
Thank you for the advanced copy!
Linty is a fun romp that's sure to make children giggle! Imagining the life of a lump of pocket lint, the author takes readers through the boring and exciting experiences and introduces us to a bunch of random "characters" that end up sharing the pocket with Linty.
I loved this creative story, and the illustrations and text were perfectly matched to make even reluctant readers pick it up again and again.
It was okay. I wish the author had gone farther with the story. It left me feeling flat. Illustrations were cute but nothing amazing.
Such a cute fun read! A very unique idea, using a tiny ball of lint to help teach kids about being brave and exploring and adventuring. As an adult, I was able to pick up on the lessons easily, but for younger kids it may take more time and explanation. Short and sweet!
The is such a fun, clever book with the sweetest protagonist ever... a clump of lint! It is written in early graphic style by debut author-illustrator Mike Shiell. It is full of imagination and humour. It is a perfect novel to encourage emerging or reluctant readers to pick up, read, and enjoy!
Linty lives alone snuggled in the front pocket of a faded pair of blue jeans which is located in a dresser drawer. He is very content to fill his day with cardio which gets his heart pumping, sightseeing his denim world, standing or sitting on his head, then playing Marco Polo solo which means he always wins.
Then one day his whole world is turned upside down. It starts to shake and bounce as a diverse gang of visitors invades his privacy. What's going on and how did these things get into his pocket?
At first Linty feels overwhelmed with the uninvited invasion but when he gives it some consideration he concludes that these changes are fun and full of adventure, the likes as he never dreamed could happen. Will Linty continue to embrace his new found exciting life or will he long to go back to living solo?
The illustrations are colourful, detailed, animated and full of hysterical dialogue, asides and antics from cover to cover. The book highlights bravery, acceptance, and friendship. The novel's concept is unique and kid's will fall in love with this fluffy little guy. This book would be great in a classroom and in an elementary school library. It would make a fun series for kid's to enjoy. I highly recommend it.
This was a cute little work about exactly what the title implies. The drawings were solid, and the dialogue was okay, although I feel the author could've done more with the storyline (even with this being a children's book). The artwork of the child's room toward the end is so detailed and so immersive that you almost wish there was a way the author could've incorporated more of that into the work. It doesn't have to be overt either, but I'm not necessarily sure of what messages the author wanted to convey - maybe about adventure and/or getting outside your comfort zone? I'm not saying the messages weren't there, but I didn't quite find them, unless that's not really the point. But, overall, I enjoyed the work and liked the diversion it provided.

Linty: A Pocketful of Adventure by Mike Shiell is a fun children's graphic novel about a piece of lint and his adventures. Linty is used to being alone, but after a boy starts wearing the jeans where Linty lives, he starts meeting all kinds of characters, including an acorn, a coin, etc. And what will happen when the jeans get washed? According to the description, "silly and engaging, with loads of heart, it's the perfect book to place in the hands of any reluctant or emerging reader."
Overall, Linty: A Pocketful of Adventure is a nice children's graphic novel that will appeal to fans of Captain Underpants or Toy Story. It reminded me of Toy Story, because that one is also about anthromorphic objects that live out their lives unbeknownst to their human owners. I did take off 2 stars, because I just could not get around the fact that I was reading about a piece of lint. Something about that felt gross to me. I'm sure that this book will appeal to many kids though. If you're intrigued by the description, or if you have a reluctant reader, you can check out this book when it comes out in May.
Well, it was way more adorable than what I expected it to be.
We meet a tiny ball of Lint, 'Linty' who lives inside a pocket of a worn off pair of jeans. As the jeans are pass over to a new owner, Linty meets new people and experience different backgrounds from various things who tell Linty about the big world outside of the pocket.
I believe kids would really enjoy this story, the graphics are pretty well done, the story is compelling and leaves behind such an important message to kids. It is fine to take risks and be afraid but also explore the world and the diversity of it all.
I was given a copy of this graphic novel through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to the author and the publisher for the arc and the chance to meet Linty.
I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. A cute book in graphic novel form about the adventures of Linty, pocket lint.
This was a super adorable childrens book. The art was vibrant and fun to follow as the story plays with directions and placement which keeps it entertaining. Linty is a great little character and all of his friends were wholesome and fun. This could be an easily built on saga of the adventures of Linty as he explores new places around the child's room/house.
Linty is an adorable book about Linty, a piece of lint that lives peacefully in the pocket of jeans that has sat idle for years. Linty has his daily routines and is happy in his pocket home.
One day, a boy grows into these jeans, and wears them. Linty's world is quite literally shaken. The boy ads different objects to the pockets, and Linty's universe has greatly expanded! Linty decides it's fine to try new things and make new friends.
I was given a copy of this book by the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are mine.
This was cute, I can see how this could appeal to early readers.
Maybe it was difficult for me to view this as a graphic novel and not a children's book, but I was underwhelmed. I expect more struggle, more plot, more depth, just more from graphic novels. Even early reader's graphic novels.
A really cute little book. Linty lives alone in a pocket. One day he is visited by new friends. He ends up in a washer, a dryer and back to his pocket. A fun story with engaging pictures. Kids will enjoy Linty.
Thank you, NetGalley. Thank you, Mike Shiell, for a fun story!
