This is a really cute story about a chick born on Easter. I really love the illustrations in this book and the story caught my attention from the very beginning.
I love chickens so I read every chicken book I can get my hands on. This illustrations in this were adorable. This sweet chick doesn't want to hatch until Easter. What an great story of animals working together.
Cute story with EXCELLENT illustrations. This is a great example of a book that I can see reading again and again to little ones in my life, if only for the illustrations.
I enjoyed this cute story and wonderful illustrations. Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
The story of a little chick who wants to hatch on Easter Sunday, but since it's still inside the eggshell, it needs mom's help to prepare seeing the world on the appointed day. Interesting book, this will help me count for Easter next year :D
My son and I were not huge fans of this one. It is nice for a one-time read but nothing that I would run out and buy.
I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. A little chick only wants to be born on Easter.
The Easter Chick is a nice book to read this time of year. It can bring conversation to children about seasons, the moons, and Easter. This book can also teach about chicks hatching. The illustrations were beautiful. It was a happy easy to read book.
I received an advanced reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.
The Easter Chick is beautifully illustrated and cleverly woven children's book about Easter and how the date is determined each year using science and the universe to guide us. This was such a cute read and definitely worth to time to read with every child over Easter.
Hilda the hen is worried because her egg hasn't hatched yet but her little chick wants to hatch on Easter day. With help from a friend they figure out (much to the chick's excitement and impatience) when Easter day will be. I loved the concept of this book and it certainly educated me too!
This is a cute easter book for young children, which is about a little chick inside an egg who asks her Mummy when it is going to be easter, so that she can come out of her egg. Her Mummy does her best to find out when easter is, with some help from her farmyard friends. The illustrations in the book are unique, and unlike other books that I have read. There is a little bit of science in the book, such as the different phases of the moon, and the days of the week are also in there. Another addition is that there are some hidden rabbits in the pages, that children will love to find.
Many thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Thx to NetGalley and Geraldine Elschner author of this children's story about a baby chicken who just was waiting for Eastern as a bunny does. it has waited to be born in Eastern.
I really enyojed reading it
3.5
The Easter Chick by Geraldine Elschner is an entertaining as well as an educational story. Hilda, the hen little chick is determined not to hatch out of the egg until Easter. Hilda goes on a search to find out how long that would be. By the end how the date of Easter is discovered not just for Hilda but for this reader too.
I read this story with a preschooler who was not as interested in the science of Easter date setting as I was. His favorite part was the hatching of the little chick though w he thought the cat was not to be trusted according to the cat’s expression on meeting the little chick.
I thought the story was cute, the illustrations lovely. However, this story especially the illustrations deserve a closer look to find the religious symbols of the season. Definitely a book to bring out every year for the young ones in your life, being sure to read deeper as you do.
The publisher through Net Galley provided a digital ARC. I have voluntarily decided to read and review, giving my personal opinions and thoughts.
“The Easter Chick” was a cute story with memorable illustrations and hidden fun on each page. Author, Geraldine Elschner, took an interesting spin on an Easter tale and my children enjoyed the book.

What a cute Easter story!
I’m a sucker for cute animals, and holiday stories are always special. I found the chick to be cute, wanting to be an Easter chick and the premise was fun.
This would be a cute Easter book to put in any child’s Easter basket!
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
Hilda the hen has laid an egg and just like Easter is waiting expectantly for her egg to hatch. But to her surprise, a sweet little voice is coming from her egg asking when Easter is coming and the desire of the chick is to hatch on Easter. With all the farm animals, farmer and his family, and Hilda, they take care of this sweet egg. A lovely story and illustrations to share with your little ones.
A special thank you to North South Books and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review
Cute story. My favorite aspect of this children's book was the illustrations. There are hidden images on nearly every page and the way the animals were drawn were quite cute and demonstrative of the story.
The Easter Chick is a perfect book to read this Easter. If your child is interested in farm animal stories, they are sure to love this one. A chick wants to hatch on Easter, but how will it know when is Easter? After the chick makes a request to the Mom, she asks for help from the wise owl. The book also teaches about how the moon waxes and wanes throughout the months, days of the week, and makes it fun to count all the eggs and rabbits in some pages. I loved the inclusion of all the farm animals at the barn. This book is sure to become an Easter classic.
This sweet children’s fiction picture book is full of delight.
Beautiful illustrations, with a side panel view showing the progress of the unhatched chick and the moon phases which tell us when baby chick will arrive.
The barn is filled with adorable supportive barnyard friends cheering the little egg on. The little chick is determined to be born on Easter morning and will make his grand appearance when he hears the Easter morning church bells ring.
This book has been translated from German to English
Thank you to the publishers North South Books and NetGalley for the advanced e-copy of this book.
A perfect book for Easter! This was an adorable story about a chick that wanted to hatch from its egg on Easter morning. The illustrations were beautiful. Kids will absolutely enjoy this book being read too them on Easter Sunday, or really any time of the year.
