Humorous cozy set in Arizona with mostly but not all senior characters. The pacing of the book was right on and kept me turning the pages. I enjoyed the book and it kept me guessing until the end.

Saddled Up 4 Murder" the 9th instalment in the Sophie Kimball Mystery series by J.C. Eaton. With a killer on the loose and horse thieves plaguing the area, it’s up to Sophie “Phee” Kimball to corral the clues and bring an outlaw to justice . . .

I found myself engrossed in the story and reading it in almost one day. I love the characters which are well developed. There is plenty of humour, too with Harriet and Streetman her Chiweenie and the rest of her crew from the Sun City Retirement Community.

The mystery is interesting, well plotted as well as full of twists and turns. Always an entertaining, fun read. This is one of my favourite series and I always buy in Paperback as I know I will read again.

I highly recommend this series to all my cozy loving friends.

I requested and received an advance reader copy of this book from Kensington Books and Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

The ninth book in the series is a fun ride. Sophie is back at it in another murder and mystery to solve. Sophie is such a fun character to sleuth with. She jumps in head first.

This 9th in series was such a fun read that I read it cover to cover. Readers of this charming series find ourselves laughing out loud at the antics of the retirement village where Phee and her Mother reside. .I have enjoyed this series from the beginning and hope it will continue. Thank you to the publisher and to Net Galley. My review opinions are my own.

This was a fun combination of old west horse thieves, murder and laugh out loud fun. Phee's Mother has a mystery to solve with her book club and enlist Phee to help. With her boyfriend out of town Phee agrees and soon she is involved in red herrings and clues from all directions.

The writers of this series are a husband and wife team brillant at creating fun characters and good mysteries. I loved this next in series and hope the series will continue. Well done to the authors. This is one of my favorites of the entire series.

When a murderer strikes in Sun City West, Phee Kimble’s mother coerces her into sleuthing to find out who killed the most hated woman in the area. With Nate and Marshall off on a case, Phee is on her own this time around. How will Phee manage the case with no help from her fiancé? More over how will she manage her Mother and the book club ladies without Marshall there?

As Phee starts talking to people she doesn’t feel like she’s making much progress, but somehow, she keeps on keeping on and eventually gets some good intel and manages to put herself, her other, Streetman, her Aunt Ina and a couple of covens in the middle of a mess that’s bigger than just the murder of a hated woman. What will happen next, even Phee doesn’t know. With no phone reception in the area and no way to call the police, they need to think quickly and figure out what they can do to keep everyone safe until the police can be contacted and get there. This could be the end of more than just a Wiccan celebration…it could be the end of Phee and her family.

A really fun cozy series that I adore, along with the wine series they write as well. You can’t go wrong with this cozy full of eccentric characters, one neurotic, but adorable, chiweenie, and a family of women who seem to stir the pot. A good read every time.

Saddle up for a fun ride!
This is the ninth book in the Sophie Kimball mystery series, but the first book I have read.

The story involves the mysterious fall off of the Sun City West library tower, of a woman that many hated. It is up to Sophie, "Phee," to lasso in the killer before the annual Bye Bye Birdie Fest, and her mother's chance to appear in "Sonoran Living," television show.

I really enjoyed the story, and had to laugh at many of the crazy situations that Phee finds herself in. Sophie is an easy character to like. I love how her character seems to get herself out of tight spots. She jumps right in to solve this case, even though her reasons seem fairly silly.

Overall, I enjoyed this book. The characters are fun, the plot moves along well, and the story in enjoyable. My only critique is that the two story arcs going throughout most of the book, are only somewhat related, and the original mystery gets tied up, almost as an afterthought.

The dog, Streetman, is quite the character, and has a huge role to play in this story. I am curious to know if he plays as big of a part in their other books.

I look forward to reading the other books in this series.

I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review of the book.

Spring is in the air as Sun City West gears up for its Bye Bye Birdie festivities, when residents bid farewell to the snowbirds and happily reclaim the town for themselves. But planning comes to a halt when the town curmudgeon plummets to her death from the library bell tower and sheriff’s deputies declare foul play. Then when horses have been stolen she comes to realize they are bringing wealthy people across the border illegally using the stolen trail horses to do the trick and solving how the deli lady was involved and what got her murdered. These are fun enjoyable stories with the ladies of Sun City West. I highly recommend for a good laugh!

Fun, Frolics And Dirty Dealings…
The ninth Sophie Kimball mystery and horse thieves are trying their luck locally, but worse…there’s a killer on the loose. Can Phee get to the bottom of all this unscathed? As she dons her sleuthing hat once again, we wonder if Phee has bitten off more than she can chew. Fun and frolics and dirty dealings in Sun City West with Phee and the crew. Colourful characters, a great setting, plenty of humour and an entertaining mystery combine for some enjoyable escapism once again.

Fun. Good ol' fashioned fun. That's how I'd describe "Saddled Up 3 Murder" in short. Loved it and am still grinning as I remember some of the images the plot conjured up.

It's been a while since I last visited Phee and friends, not to mention her mother's tight circle of friends from the Sun City West retirement village. I immediately felt right at home but, no fear, new readers, as author Eaton does an excellent job showing us who each of these characters are as well as how the pieces all fit together. This is a fun read with lots of laughs, many even during some otherwise tense moments, go figure. I mean, even Phee's Roomba gets an action scene, so to speak, during the story. And what the heck, if anything, could the case of the stolen horses have to do with the murder?

I liked the characters, even the frequently over-the-top fretting ones of her mother's Booked 4 Murder book club. Or, are they over-reacting? I mean, one of them may have seen more than she realizes when a murder is committed. Could she be in genuine danger or have they all just watched to many murder mysteries. With boyfriend Marshall out of town on another case, Phee is on her own. She wants to help the ladies although, quite frankly, she admits that part of the reasoning is as much to keep her mother off her back as the desire for justice.

Phee and the ladies definitely need a hero to save the day and that hero comes from the most unexpected place. Nope, not telling. You'll have to read the book to find out. If you enjoy cozy mysteries with more than a dash of humor, this one is for you.

Thank you NetGalley and Beyond the Page Publishing for letting me spend some time with Phee.
