I love roommates to lovers so much! The forced proximity part of it it so FUN! I loved the connection between and Rory and Peter! This was cute and lighthearted story!! Very hallmark sweet and cliché, but still oh so enjoyable!
(First of all, thank you so much NetGalley and the publisher for providing me this ARC in exchange for an honest review).
Synopsis: Rory is broke and her new female roommate from London suddenly drops out. The woman's brother, Peter, shows up with a letter saying that the rental agreement is canceled. Short on rent, she agrees to take him as her roommate with the condition of no romantic involvement between them. Soon, Rory finds her new roommate was born with a silver spoon in his mouth, an unruly young man for the first time having to shoulder family responsibilities. While the pair learns to co-exist through a comedy of errors, Rory discovers something about him that leads to other lies and secrets.
Opinion: I tried to read this book so many times that I can't even count them. The premise was perfect and I was expecting to read it non-stop. However, it didn't happen as I expected. I don't know if it's the writing style or if I can't connect with the story and characters. Feel free to try it for yourselves, this is just my opinion and you could enjoy it.
It feels like I have read books like this over and over again and I didn't want the same story at the time that I was reading this. Maybe another day folks, this will appeal to me.
I was really intrigued by the synopsis of No Romance Allowed, however I was disappointed by the execution of it. I found that there was no actual romance through the book. The main characters were at odds with each other the whole book and then all of a sudden, they love each other. This scenario did not fit with what was happening in the story, there was no chemistry, fun moments, or hot tension. one was immature and naive, which did not fit in with information that we get later in the book about them. while the other just felt like a mother dealing with a child. Finally, the rest of the book mainly focused on the characters' work and the struggles with them. Overall, I got annoyed and a bit frustrated with where this book went, and I would not characterize it as a romance.
I received this advanced ebook, via Netgalley. This review is my own honest opinion.
I ended up not finishing simply because the writing style is not for me. I prefer fast paced and only necessary details for me to be engrossed in the novel, and the dialogue could use a little work. Like I said, just not for me personally!
Book review : No ROMANCE Allowed by Kana Wu is a thrilling , sweet and suspense touch romantic book.
The story revolves around the sweet, responsible girl , Rory. She lives in southern California. She works for Myraid Food and Beverages, a distributor for frozen food and beverages ranging from soft drinks to wine and spirits.
She was struggling to pay the rent on her own after her ex-roommate moved to Seattle. She had to cut back on all expenses and thought of RENTING a room.
She receives an offer from Jane to be her new roommate. But unfortunately on the day of boarding she gets to know from her brother ,Peter that she will not come and join her due to sudden surgery.
Short on rent, she agrees to take him as her roommate with a condition of no romantic involvement between them.
Soon Rory finds her new roommate was born with a silver spoon in his mouth, an unruly young man for the first time having to shoulder family responsibilities . While the pair learns to co-exist through a comedy of errors , Rory discovers something about him that leads to other lies and secrets.
I loved reading this suspense touch romantic book. I recommend this book to all romantic book lovers. The book is beginner's friendly with lucid language and no chit-chat romance.
I am thankful to @netgalley and @kanawu to give me an opportunity to read this book. I am eagerly waiting to read it's next part to know what happened next....
Happy Reading!

Firstly, I am in constant awe of anyone who writes and published a novel. That alone is a huge feat worth celebrating.
I give this book 3 stars.
I was unable to finish this book. To be clear, I don’t think it’s a bad book, I just don’t think that it’s a good book for me. I don’t relate to the main character, I find the dialogue to be a bit stilted, and there are definitely some unnecessary sexist moments that I don’t love. BUT there is a solid foundational plot and it’s a great book for people who like clean romance. It also talks a bit about the idea of loss, which is always great. I don’t think it was a bad book at all, it just wasn’t a good fit for me.
Thank you to NetGalley, Kana Wu, and Booklocker.com Inc for the e-ARC in return for an honest review.
I enjoyed this book! I found it to have a unique and cute storyline. Would recommend to anyone looking for a fun read!
I really wanted to like this book. Based on the description and title it seemed like it would be a cute romantic comedy, which at times it had elements of that genre. However, it took a very dramatic turn and the ending fell VERY flat for me. Basically from 75% to the end, I was so frustrated with the story that I wanted to just stop reading but I held out in case it took a turn for the better. It did not.
If you want a slow-moving drama, then this book is for you.
If you found this expecting a romantic comedy or even just a romance story, then I would not recommend it. I think you'll feel disappointed in the end.
This book is about an accountant named Rory. She is working in a company where she is overworked and underpaid. Her roommate has moved out and she can no longer afford to live in her house so she begins to look for a new roommate. She does not want men to apply, However in a turn of events Peter shows up and she agrees to let him move in. The romance begins from here.
This was a cute lighthearted romance. I enjoyed the relationship between the two characters. I found Rory to be a likeable character and enjoyed the journey she went on.

This book had everything to become a good book and unfortunately it was not.
The first thing that caught my attention was the plot, since I found it interesting that two people who don't know each other had to share an apartment. I admit that it is one of my favorite tropes. However, the author has not known how to make good use of all that potential.
In the beginning, the book goes very slowly. There are chapters that mix the present with a bit of the protagonist's past in the company and that took me out of the story a bit. However, past those chapters, the book already starts to pick up a bit. But then we get to the last part of the book where it is very obvious what is going to happen.
On the other hand, I didn't really get along with the main characters either. It seems to me that they have an attitude more of small children than of people of almost thirty years old. There is a lack of communication between them and in the end everything is solved without talking things over. They forgive each other and that's it.
It's a shame because it had a lot of potential and in the end it wasn't what I expected.
