I love the premise and execution of this book. Great message that there is more than one kind of bravery, and that listening to your own inner voice is braver than giving in to pressure to do something you don't want to do.

Wow, what an adorable and fun read with a phenomenal message! The illustrations were brightly colored and paired perfectly with the text. I loved how this story was told and how Wanda showed us more than one way a person can be brave! I would absolutely buy this for my children or my classroom, and hope to see it at my local library, too!

In Braver than Brave, Wanda wants to be brave like her big brother. She practises being brave so she can ride a scary roller coaster. In the end, she is brave in her own way. The surprise twist is what makes this book compared to other stories about bravery. I loved that the message isn’t that you should do anything that scares you, but rather that there are many ways of being brave. Braver than Brave will be an excellent way to begin a conversation about bravery in the classroom. It would also provide a way to talk about not pressuring others into doing something they do not want to do. I will definitely be reading this book with my Grade 1/2 class!

My 3 & 7yo children both loved this book, and have asked to read it multiple times. The takeaway message of different kinds of bravery is perfect - so often the idea of brave is seen as doing something dangerous, but bravery can also be standing up for yourself when you don't want to do the dangerous or scary thing! It really opened new conversation with both my children about trusting their instincts. Must read, and must buy for the bookshelf!

I loved this book. I was concerned that Wanda would give into peer pressure but she showed the true meaning of being brave! Standing up for yourself.

This is a great story about Wanda who wants to be brave like her older brother. This story touches on what brave is and the different kinds of brave. Wanda learns to be her own kind of brave in the face of peer pressure! This book is great for ages 5-8

Wanda wants to be brave like her big brother, but she soon discovers that there is more that one way to be brave.
This book is perfect for 5-7 year olds who struggle with confidence. Reading this to my daughter opened up a world of discussions about what it means to be brave and all the brave things that she does all the time.
I highly recommend this book for kindergarten teachers or child therapists looking to add to their shelves.

I love the message of this book, "there is more than one way to be brave". The story is short and simple. The drawings match the story. I highly recommend you reading this to the children in your life.

Nice, quick read focusing on a young girl who is in awe of how brave her brother and their friends are, and who has had to work on "her brave" all year long, knowing the roller-coaster at the local theme park is the goal in mind. Just a sentence or some small speech bubbles per page help the story's clarity come across in full, and the visuals are both cartoonish and a way for kids to see themselves in the story. Without the final, final twist I don't think the end result of it all would really be the right message, but this is a well-considered portrayal of what might happen when you look up to people for inconsequential reasons.

I loved the message of this book and how it was protrayed. It's an excellent example for young children. Sometimes being brave is standing up to people. It's not always doing something crazy. Loved it and highly recommend.

I cannot say how much I LOVED THIS BOOK. I loved everything from Wanda’s practice being brave to the surprise ending that teaches children to be themselves, find their own brave, and do what is right for them. I like that it didn’t skirt around how hard peer pressure can be either. Excellent use of white space to draw attention to different parts of the story, where illustrations bring the message to life. Wholeheartedly recommend for preschoolers and up!

There is more than one kind of brave. I absolutely love that and believe that is a message we should send to our students. Wanda was able to find her brave and she realized not everyone’s brave looks the same.

Okay, at first read parent read through I wasn't going to read it to my daughter. It's great to learn how to be brave in certain situations, but we're also teaching her that there's a different kind of brave which is standing up for yourself if you're being bullied by others. The beginning of this book was doing just that, but then it changes and she learns how to do just that, Parent and kid approved.

Thank you, Capstone Editions, for the advance reading copy.

This book is so adorable and kind of amazing in that it tells a story of a young girl who gets afraid to do some activities that other kids enjoy. It's about not thinking too much but learning how to start experiencing these activities and let go of the fears slowly.

The illustrations/artwork is really cute and easy to the eyes.
