An interesting read mainly because it was something a bit different.
Plenty of characters, many were pretty complicated and the vast majority i found very unlikeable.

A who done it with plenty of other things going on!

Lastly a surprise ending!

My thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for an advanced copy in return for my honest review.

Thank you Netgalley and Harper Collins UK, One More Chapter for this ARC of After the Party by Georgina Lee's.

Lizzie has had a somewhat obsessive crush on her co-worker Dean for years but has never confessed this to him or anyone else. On the night of their employee Christmas party she finally finds the courage to tell him. Except before she gets the chance, Dean informs her that he is in love with their co-worker, Rebecca. Heartbroken and torn, Lizzie leaves the party and goes home in tears. The next day, she wakes up to find out that Rebecca is now missing.

This was a good mystery with an unpredictable ending, however, I just could not get into this. I found myself skimming through somewhat unnecessary details throughout. I couldn't relate to, nor did I particularly like any of the characters in this either. I did enjoy the overall story and mystery, I just don't think this author's style is for me personally.

Mixed feelings about this one!

First, the writing is very good. It kept me reading all the way through, even if I had other reservations. I would read another story by this author, for sure.

However, the plot/mystery fell a little flat. It was very obvious early on who the killer was, and unfortunately the mc's arc was very repetitive. I wasn't sure why certain characters were in the story, other than to serve as potential culprits. The summary made it seem like the story revolved around the party, and 'something' that happened there, but the party scene was very short and not suspicious.

Sadly wasn't impressed with this one, but would definitely give the author another go. Very grateful to Netgalley and the publisher for the arc!

Lizzie has had a crush on her co-worker Dean for many years. One night at a work Christmas party he tells her that he is love Rebecca, a friend of Lizzie's. Lizzie is crushed. Soon after, Rebecca goes missing and everyone is a suspect. Lizzie tries to find out what happened to her friend.

This was my first book by Georgina Lees and I loved it. It was a quick and easy read. I did have my suspicions and I was correct, but it didn't take away from my enjoyment of the novel. Overall, a very entertaining read I think many people will have a hard time putting down.

Many Thanks to NetGalley and HarperCollins UK, One More Chapter for my ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This book was sent to me by Netgalley for review…a cast of unlikable characters…dysfunctional families and friendships that don’t work…romances that are secretive and do not even mention the different hook ups…the protagonist is out to get her man no matter what…she is enabled by her mom who will do anything to get her daughter that man. This book becomes so confusing that I had a difficult time keeping up with the characters and their lives…the story moves slowly but does finally end…surprising ending…this author is gifted at weaving a tale that keeps the reader going pn…

This one was really enjoyable. A wide range of realistic, complicated characters with well-motivated actions and plot-turns. Twists are unexpected without being unbelievable. A solid thriller

Desolate, Foreboding…
With a heavy and almost desolate sense of foreboding from the off, mirroring the feelings of Lizzie, a frustrated artist in love with one of her work colleagues but not with her work. Dean seemingly knows nothing of Lizzie’s feelings for him. There are others in the workplace, however, that do. When Rebecca, another colleague, goes missing following the works Christmas party a catalogue of tragic events is let loose. A compelling tale with an immersive and atmospheric plot and narrative and with a well crafted cast of characters. A one sit read which is never as predictable as you may at first imagine.

Fast pace thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat the entire book. Everyone will recognize the characters from their life and the plot is incredibly interesting and picked up from the start of the novel.

Wow, what a wild ride this one was! The story centers on Lizzie, who has been in love with her coworker Dean for years and is just waiting for him to reciprocate. When she finally gets up the nerve to tell him, he beats her to it by telling her that he is in a serious relationship with one of her friends. That friend just happens to go missing later that night, and the rest of the book is focused on trying to figure out what happened. The story is told in linear fashion and solely from Lizzie’s POV.

This one is full of twists and keeps you guessing the entire way through. I did get a little tired of Lizzie constantly bemoaning her love for Dean without doing anything about it, but most of the book was very action packed. I also thought it was weird that she kept talking about her “red hair”. We knew is was red and it felt like an odd speech pattern to regularly say things like “I am my fingers through my red hair”. Maybe that’s just me, though…..

The ending of the book was a surprise that actually included a few different twists. It didn’t turn out how I expected and I can’t say that I approved of decisions that were made, but I loved the unexpectedness of how it all came together.

Overall, this is a fun and fast read and I’d recommend it to those who like mysteries and psychological thrillers. Thanks to Netgalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

After the Party by G. Lees, published by Harper Collins UK/ One More Chapter, is a book that stays with you. I literally just finished the book and I can't even say how the story threw me. A thriller of it's finest, a story that quietly, sneakily grows on you, then grips you with both hands and doesn't let you go anymore.
Twisty full of unexpected turns gives all the feels books like this are the best reads ever. I loved connecting with the characters, sitting on the edge of my seat reading this unputdownable book.

Lizzie has been in love with Dean for years, but he has never tried to take things further with her. Then one day, at the office party, he tells her that he is in love with her friend Rebecca. Lizzie goes home upset, and is shocked afterwards to find out that Rebecca went missing after the party. What happened to her?

A thrilling read that keeps you turning the pages and guessing until the end. A good range of characters and you are kept wondering how each of them could be involved. Recommended!
