Spine tingling and horrifyingly descriptive. This book was brilliant and captivating. The characters were unique and well done. The plots and twists in the characters dynamic was evocative. The atmosphere was wonderfully detailed. An intense gritty read where it seems everyone has a secret and it’s all about to explode. The ending was absolutely twisted and horrifying. This page turner keeps your heart in your throat and your eyes flying though…. Because you have to know ….

Who knew house hunting could be so deadly? HGTV ain't got nothing on Tess Stimson's latest novel unless they re-vamp Love it or List it to Love it and Kill for it for which I would certainly tune in. 😉

We have three couples all vying to buy the perfect home. Their perfect home.

When you finally find the house of your dreams that you can't possibly live without will you kill for it?

That's the question Tess Stimson latest novel asks and the answer is deliciously diabolical.

We have a cast of unsavory characters that were all interesting and intriguing in their own way. The dark humor certainly aided in making this a proper page-turner. Shocks and surprises reveal themselves at just the right moment to keep us wondering just how low will these people go. The ending was the cherry on the sundae for this reader because it was so perfectly twisted. I'm thrilled to say that my first Stimson novel was a success! 4 stars!

Thank you to NetGalley and Avon Books UK for my complimentary copy.

What would you do if you found the perfect home… but it didn’t belong to you? Would you, if it came on the market, do everything possible to show you’re an honest, open, friendly potential buyer? Would you befriend the owner and move into their life? And what happens when there are three couples, and three houses, and the dream property highlights the good and bad personality traits of all those involved? If that’s whetted your appetite enough then Tess’ book should be on your radar. The Glass House is a must-buy and owners Felix and Stacey know that. Millie is desperate for the move, less so her husband Tom, but willing to give his wife anything she wants to avoid her dark side. Meanwhile, Kyle and Harper love Millie’s house and every sacrifice they may will be worth it. Won’t it? This is a much deeper, darker read than you’d expect and genuinely will make you feel a bit panicked, in a good way.

Stimson has certainly reached for a dark pen in writing this twisty domestic suspense!

Millie, Harper and Stacey will leave you shaking your head in disbelief at the lengths they’ll go to protect what they love and get what they want. These female psychopaths are manipulative, dishonest and immoral. They have no regrets and have no limitations.

They meet at a real estate transaction for their dream home, but you’ll never guess what these three women will do to get their dream life!

This vague review is my feeble attempt at giving you insight without spoilers. While I don’t feel it measures up to ‘Stolen,’ mainly due to pacing issues and abuse, it was still unputdownable suspense. Please familiarize yourself with content warnings prior to reading.

This novel with a real-life domino effect revolves around home buyers and sales and features aggressive acquisitions. The Glass House - it’s an ideal metaphor for the author’s message.

I was gifted this advance copy by Tess Stimson, Avon Books UK, and NetGalley and was under no obligation to provide a review.

📖BOOK REVIEW📖
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

#TheNewHouse by @tessstimson

⏩for book cover & synopsis

Well this book certainly packs a punch 😮

If you’ve not read a Tess Stimson thriller then your seriously missing out! She has definitely become one of my top thriller authors!

This book is slick; it draws you in easily and slowly curls around you becoming part of your being. There’s so much misdirection, twisting and turning, weaving of such a tangled web between all the characters it leave you wondering who can you trust? I was constantly changing my mind about who did what and who was to blame for this that and the other.

The detail in this book was on point - I loved all the fables about good and evil, the comprehensive medical details and the chopping and changing of narrator along with the podcast kept the plot alive and kicking. This book also had a quite a moral fibre - what would you do? After everything that happened would you still have made the same choice?

An Excellent read! Love love this author!

Thanks to author #TessStimson @netgalley and @avonbooksuk for allowing us to read this one early!

I’m not sure what to make of The New House,it was good book but I found it dragged a bit at the beginning for a few chapters. But it once it got going it wasn’t too bad,Millie has her heart set on the glass house so when it goes up for sale she must have it,with her son Peter showing disturbing signs of hurting other children she has every reason to be worried along with husband Tom, and when owner of the glass house Stacey becomes involved with the family things become messy indeed and with Harper gets involved who wants to buy Millie’s and Tom’s house things get even more explosive. It is a very good story in the end but you have to stay with it in the first few chapters,With plenty of twists and turns along the way it finally had me gripped,it’s a good 4=star read from Tess Stimson.

This starts off really well; a book about psychopaths and a woman who needs to break into houses to feel alive; then find her perfect house for sale. What follows is told from various perspectives and although this should work well, I found it confusing and irritating at times.
It's definitely an unusual read and worth a go.

Decent 3* good read.

Thanks to NetGalley and Avon Books UK for the opportunity to preview.

I really liked this book.. The story captured my attention right from the start and had me guessing who the villain was time and time again. I enjoyed each and every character and sympathized with Millie as some of the choices got me thinking, what would I do in her place? The plot was great and the entire journey kept me wanting to read late into the night just to see how things turned out. I give this book 4.5 stars only for the fact that there is no way anyone would just let things keep going without intervening (sorry trying not to give any spoilers here)

Thank you so much to NetGalley for the ARC and make sure you check it out when it is released in August 2022

Imagine....a triangle. At its peak - you have the "Glass House" and Stacey and Felix., then on one corner, you have Millie, who has always loved the Glass House and would do anything to live there. In the other corner, you have Harper, an influencer who needs to upgrade her house.

This book is more than real estate chess. It's about sociopaths and massive amounts of money, backstabbing and fake friendship all in the name of getting exactly what you want.

It's excellent domestic fiction.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Wow!!! This was such a gripping psychological thriller I have read! Tess Stimson has done it again!

Three couples--Stacie and Felix, Millie and Tom and Kyle and Harper. Stacie and Felix own the Glass House a beautiful house that is for sale. MIllie and Tom wants to buy the house as it is their dream home. So does Kyle and Harper from Millie and Tom. This is a thriller based on these three couples.

This was a fast paced thriller with the twists and turns. The characters are all interesting and was mainly told from Millie's and Tom's point of view. The author has managed to grab the attention of the reader and from the beginning till the end, I was literally hooked into the story that I actually stayed up all night reading the book! The characters are unreliable and a bit of psychopaths themselves. And the end...that was completely unexpected and I was so hooked that I felt like I was watching a thriller movie!! This was really a gripping psychological thriller that will keep you at the edge of the seat till the end!

So if you are looking for a thriller that will keep you up all night, reading about psychopaths, then this book will be one for you--worth five stars!

Many thanks to Netgalley and Avon for the ARC. The review is based on my honest opinion only.

I think I read a different book!

I'm in the minority, but this one didn't work for me for many, many reasons!

My second by the author, I do have Stolen, but haven't read it yet.

The beginning and the setup did intrigue me and I was enjoying Millie and her little addiction of breaking into people's houses! She really doesn't "do anything" though, just snoops around a bit. It rejuvenates her and she goes about it with a spring in her step.

Then, things took a slow dive (for me)!

I didn't buy into Millie's character, her actions didn't make sense much of the time. The three couples in the house buying/selling plot were also hard to imagine doing the things they did. The plot went pretty dark, they all had property crushes, very dysfunctional homes, some suffered from domestic abuse and their own dark angels.

You know the perfect storm is brewing, but for me it was more like a horror show with some cuckoos in their nests.

I'm clearly an outlier, read the raving five star reviews for other opinions.

*4.5 stars*

If you’ve ever been through the process of buying a house, you’ll appreciate what a stressful experience it is - so many things can go wrong to deprive you of the house that you’ve set your heart on - most of those things outside of your control. However, ‘The New House’ takes the house buying process to a whole new crazy and scary level!

Three couples, all of them eager to buy each other’s houses. An unnamed narrator relates the whole sordid story to us, along with the POV of the characters involved in the housing chain. They’re all desperate to secure the house of their dreams, but throw a psychopath into the mix and you end up with a mind blowing, dark, disturbing and twisty thriller that is difficult to put down, and difficult to forget! A terrific read.

In this book we meet three couples.

There is Stacey who is married to Felix. Who own the glass House who want to downsize. However they can't buy to just anyone and are desperate to find the right buyer for their gorgeous house and who will be able to keep the secrets that it holds.

Then there is Millie and Tom who have always desperately wanted to live in the glass House and cannot believe their luck when it goes up for sale. But is the house and its owners all it seems?

We also have harper and Kyle who want to find the perfect house, in the right school district for when their children start school. And they want to buy Millie and Toms house.

Everything seems to be going swimmingly buy then the sale of one of the houses falls through which has a toppling effect for everyone else and the end question is how far would you go to get everything you have always wanted.

It's always really stressful to move house but this takes it to a new level. This is a well written physiological thriller with many twist and turns along the way.

Wow, if you like dark and twisty this is the book for you. My head is still spinning after reading this one. The story revolves around three couples who have their hearts set on buying different homes. Tom and Millie love the glass house that belongs to Stacey and Felix that just went on the market while Harper and Kyle want to buy Tom and Millie's current home. After making offers and starting the wheels in motion, Stacey and Felix back out of selling the glass home to Millie and Tom. Millie and Tom have to tell Harper and Kyle that they have to back out of selling their home to them. Nobody takes these failed deals very well which sets off a lot of strange turns of events. This is an unputdownable book that I read in record time because it held me hostage from the first page!

Thank you NetGalley and Avon Books for the ARC of this fantastic book that is a real page turner.

I love books that combine thrillers with modern architecture. This book combined sinister elements in a perfect setting. You will absolutely enjoy the plot as well.

Wow this was a twisty story with lots of surprises. Loved it.
Three couples are in the process of selling/buying houses. Like dominos, each sale/purchase is related to the others. As the story unfolds, the characters become more developed, and what is exposed is nothing short of amazing. A great psychological thriller that will keep you reading and guessing until the end.
I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Dark, twisty, and utterly unputdownable! Three couples are caught up in a home-buying chain with disastrous and deadly consequences. This blurb doesn’t do justice to this brilliant novel, but it’s hard to say too much without giving anything away.

This story isn’t really about real estate. These aren’t your typical buyers and sellers, because at least one is a psychopath. This is a tale of greed, obsession, manipulation, and mental illness. The deep dive into psychopathy is fascinating. The structure of the novel is perfect, with multiple points of view, SET talks, vlog posts, and short chapters driving the reader toward the shocking conclusion. This is a true psychological thriller in every sense of the term. I was riveted from start to finish!

Many thanks to NetGalley and Avon Books UK for providing me an advance copy of this book.

Three house, three couples, all with strong women all in a housing chain – one of which is ‘The Glass House’ which is a house to die for – what could go wrong!

Millie, the best cardiovascular surgeon at the top of her game.
Stacey, a well known and loved morning tv show host.
Harper, a vlogger with a decent amount of followers.
Three very different women but all with one in common, they all want the others house!

Millie had already fallen in love with The Glass House so as soon as Stacey puts it up for sale she is determined to make the house her new home. But to be able to afford it she needs to sell her house, and fast.
As soon as Harper sees Millie’s house she is determined that she will have that house, no matter what.
What should have been an easy sell for all involved has become anything but straight forward.
These three women, who would have never met had it not been for The Glass House, are pulled together with some proper plot twists along the way and with an ending you will never see coming!
It is fast paced and keeps you reading for far longer than you planned as time flys by.
Really great characterisation of the cast so you can’t help but to feel invested in their lives, even the ones you don’t like!

Well worthy of all the 5 star reviews this book has already received as well as the hundreds that will soon follow.

This would be the perfect book for your holiday!

The New House will be published on 4 Aug 2022 and is available to pre-order now
