An update from the author's previous book, (it's been 10 years), he covers the economics of wine. Now, new things must be taken into account. Environmental shifts due to global warming. Demographic changes. It's all very technical. I like reading about wine, but this was a bit heavy for me. Perhaps it will appeal more to people invested in the wine industry.

While wine lovers enjoy wine, many do not know or understand the forces in the past and present that affect what style of wine is produced for different growing regions, the size of the wineries or consortia producing the wines, and external factors that can influence wine production and price, such as global warming, war, and COVID-19 or other pandemics.

This book, written by Mike Veseth, a wine economist, takes us through these topics in chapters he coins as Flights, as in flights of wine. If you cringe at the thought of reading an economics book, don't fret. This book is very easy to read and Mike makes economics terms easy to understand and gives examples of how they affect the wine that you enjoy. He provides examples of wineries from around the world. Not just the major wine-producing countries/regions, like France, Italy, and California. He also covers small regions, like British Columbia in Canada, Chile, South Africa, and Georgia.

A totally enjoyable read, whether you sip it along with a sparkling, red, white, rosé, or fortified wine.
