A story about a bound between friends, about promises, blackmail, motherhood, abuse and friendship.
A long time ago Selene helps Tansy to get out of a very bad situation, but her acts are a bit too violent. There is a muted pact between the two friends who don't see each other for 20 years, until Selene swings back in Tansy's life asking to cash on a favour. She strongly believes that her daughter is in a relation with an abusive man so she's asking for help to convince her daughter Jupiter to leave the guy.
The story is good and promising but there are too many things that makes the reader wonder how is this happening. From Tansy getting involved with Jupiter's uncle and hiding from Jupiter her long friendship with her mother.
The ending was as well a bit far fetched in my opinion. Not a bad book, but it could have been better.
Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for allowing me to read this nice book!

Thank you to Netgalley, Dreamscape Media, and Jody Gehrman for an advance listening copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I really enjoyed this audiobook and liked the narrators style and voice. Told over two different periods we find Tansy and Selene & the secrets that bind them together. Fast forward to the present, Selene is back and wants Tansy to help her cover up a crime because "she owes her". During this cover up, we meet many great characters and see how secrets can truly bind us together for a lifetime. I enjoyed the twist at the end and it definitely made the slow burn feel of the book worth the wait. You can pick up this audiobook and this book on March 8th, 2022.

To start off the review I have to say I enjoyed this book. It was well written, and it didn't avoid talking about some heavy subjects, even tho i think those heavy topics could've been pushed further at times.
This book is a slow paced thriller/mystery book, and that type of book doesn't do a lot of me.
There wasn't much thinking or guessing what happens next.
Most of the reveals I personally found predictable, so they didn't come as a shock when they happened.
Some of the characters fell flat for me, and i think Selene and Tansey were the most fleshed out characters of the book, while characters like Zach and Jupiter were one dimensional in my opinion.
Other than the thriller/mystery aspect of the book there is also the romance part that i didn't love. It used the insta love trope to set up the romance and i find that to take away from what could've been a good romance. Romance wise I'm glad it took only a small portion of the book, and the rest didn't involve it.
The ending was okay, but it wasn't anything to unexpected.
Also topics of mental illness are mentioned in the book, especially BPD but in my opinion it was very surface level and based on the basic symptoms of that disorder, and i felt that if the author was already mentioning it they could've at least put a bit more substance in that conversation.
Overall, even with the issues i have with this book, reading it i have to say i had fun and i wanted to see what will happen by the end.
Trigger Warnings included in this book are topics of mental illness, sexual assault, abusive relationships.
- Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for giving me this audiobook in exchange for my honest review.

This book isn’t my usual style for mystery. It’s quite slow, I had to up my listening speed. On that note, after the 30% mark I slowed the speed because I was hooked by then.
A solid mystery. I did figure out who did what but it was a compelling story. I needed to know what happened to the characters.
The ending threw me in for a loop. That, I hadn’t expected but maybe that’s why I enjoyed the book so much.
The author wove mystery and psychological thriller and the combination was phenomenal. The book is very well written. I’d definitely be reading more from Jody Gehrman.
Selene and Tansy were best friends who drifted apart. 18 years later, Selene shows up to call in the favour she’d done Tansy and to know more, you have to read this book.
